Second time staying at gold leaf and very pleased with this moderately priced hotel on beach block and directly across from Nalu and the live entertainment. Though i would say no frills each room had a fridge and coffee maker, tV, and blow dryer. The WiFi and Parking are both free which is a nice perk! The staff is very polite and allowed me to park vehicle in the garage until room was ready for checkin so we could enjoy the day at the beach. They called me on my cell when room was ready. I would say that customer service is well above average in these new travel times as is cleanliness. I noticed staff sweeping the floor& wiping down surface areas. The room was very clean and smelled sanitized. I would not hesitate to stay here again .

Great location. 1/2 block walk to the beach. Right next to Nalu restarant. Very clean rooms. Adequate indoor parking. Rooftop pool which is a decent size. Well worth it! Dewey Beach is a little less crowded than Rehoboth but still a very nice beach with chairs, umbrellas and drinks and snacks available.

We were visiting Dewey Beach for the 3rd time and are very happy to have selected this hotel as it was a much better choice than other properties we had previously stayed at. We booked a 2-Queen bed room for 2 nights. Hotel prices have increased tremendously since Covid, so while the rate was reasonable in comparison to other Dewey/Rehoboth hotels, it was overpriced for the actual hotel. This hotel was originally a Best Western and could use some updates/TLC. Our room was on the 4th (top) floor and was clean and the AC unit worked well. The room was pretty basic. It did have a microwave and refrigerator. There was an armoire (no closet), a small table with coffeemaker and a chair in the corner of the room. The bathroom needed some updating. We had a “balcony” but it really is just two glass doors that open to a railing. Many people hung their towels/bathing suits to dry. Overall, room was basic, nothing spectacular. There is a small rooftop pool (3-4ft depth) which is in dire need of updating and a small exercise room (not sure if it was open) and the complimentary breakfast room was closed. There is a small indoor parking garage attached free of charge. There is parking outside, but it is metered for beach parking. There is a complimentary coffee machine available in the lobby and we had an ice machine on our floor. Upon arrival, we noticed signs everywhere stating that masks are required in all common areas and failure to comply will result in eviction from your stay. Honestly, we wore the masks out of respect for the staff, however there were many guests who did not. I did not see one employee enforce the policy while we were there. Staff was friendly with the guests throughout our stay. Daily housekeeping is not available; you must request replacement towels, items, etc. at the front desk. Now onto the positives...what a GREAT LOCATION. You are a block from the beach and a block from the bay. Nalu, a nice Hawaiian style bar/restaurant is located right next door and the Rusty Rudder, a nice, large bar/restaurant is located across the street on the bay. We visited both places and did enjoy them. It is a short walk (about 5-6 blocks) to the heart of Dewey where you’ll find more bars/restaurants. We did find some establishments that were closed and some others had limited hours and/or limited staff so wait times were long. Just be mindful that places are still trying to recoup from Covid, so have some patience and understanding. The Starboard and Dewey Beer Company have always been our favorite spots and there were no issues at either establishment. Overall, despite the room rate being higher than it should be, we would definitely stay at this hotel in the future. The location alone made up for the pricey room rate. If you like a cozy beach party town, Dewey is the spot. You can also take the trolley over to Rehoboth Beach as there is more to see and do, especially if you’re traveling with children. Looking forward to visiting again!

My daughter and I took my grandchildren there for a day and a night. The hotel is very close to the beach...about a 5 minute walk, if that. Our room was large and had two queen sized beds. We payed $25 extra for a cot. It was clean and comfortable. We really appreciated being able to check in early. We were only there for the day and night and being able to check in early was very convenient nice of them to accomodate us. It was very quiet. I would have paid extra to be able to stay a few more hours after checkout but it was not possible. I would stay there again.

First off Dewey itself isn’t the greatest place to visit right now. Everything was takeout and if you want to dine in you pretty much have to go to Rehoboth. The hotel was not what I had hoped for. They didn’t have anything on their site about all the things they closed due to covid. The pool, gym, and breakfast room were all closed. Walking around Dewey we saw other pools open and so I feel like the owner here was just lazy and didn’t feel like doing whatever he needed to do to please his guests. They said he’s probably not opening the pool all season. They also did not clean our room or give us supplies daily. You have to call for things or go to the desk. Then they have this envelope in the room like they want a tip, kinda funny to us to expect a tip. I would not come back to this hotel. They should have let us know that these things would all be closed and given the option to cancel. I feel like we were misled.

Dear kkalb1000, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review of your stay with us. As hearing from our guest is the best way we can improve our business. We are usually known for our friendly, clean hotel, with an attentive friendly staff. Yes during COVID-10 we have made changes and have updated all booking web sites. You'll be happy to know we adjusted all the rates since our breakfast room, gym and pool are closed. We’re sorry you were misinformed and apologize for any inconvenience it caused. Please accept our apologies. We're doing our best to keep everyone safe during this pandemic. Sincerely, Maria
