My wife and I stayed on a Saturday night and we had a roomy, comfortable room and a fantastic breakfast. The couple who manage this bed and breakfast are very friendly and try hard to please their customers. This is a very nice place to stay.

We had a wonderful Valentine's day stay with Amy and Don. They made us feel like one of the family and were very attentive. Our room was cozy and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was a special treat which we thoroughly enjoyed. Truly a Valentine's Day to remember.

The Blue Hen Bed and Breakfast is an amazing property: well-preserved with original architecture from the 1600s. Clean, cozy, quiet, and comfortable, The Blue Hen is located minutes from the bustling Main Street of Newark, where plenty of restaurants and entertainment may be found. (However, the best crab soup is to be steps from the Inn at Nutter's). Hosts Amy...

What a lovely experience. We were welcomed in as old friends by owners Amy and Don and they were so helpful! We were there to inspect a home that our son and his wife are hoping to purchase. We had lots of questions about the area as well as about contractors and Amy and Don were a wealth of information!...

Amy and Don were exceptional hosts, and Don's breakfast is something you cannot pass up. My husband and I were in Newark to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and our hosts made us feel welcomed and comfortable. The BnB is conveniently located to the University of Delaware, outlet shopping at Lancaster County, Longwood Gardens, and much more! We can't wait to...

Excellent B&B. Built in 1692. Delicious breakfasts. Amy is wealth of information and a delightful hostess. Convenient location. Clean rooms. We'll go back. Lot's of historical sites in the area. TV in the suite, not in upstairs bedrooms

Very friendly hosts, who were accomodating to our needing to arrive much earlier than planned in order to change clothes for a wedding. They make a big effort with food and drink--lovely baked goods. The beds are comfortable too.

This is a nice B&B, and was well located for us for visiting friends in Newark DE and also heading to Chadds Ford. The building has history and charm, and the hosts were friendly, as were the 2 dogs, so sweet! The breakfasts were great! The decor was nice, with nice art on the walls and good mattresses too. But...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we appreciate that very much. We apologize about the yard but because of the wet weather we’ve had for the past several days our landscapers postponed maintenance. In regard to the lighting in the living room, the two wall sconces are our only option for normal lighting. In addition, the...

(We actually went in September of 2015 but I forgot to write a review earlier - We stayed in the Mary Cassatt Room) My husband & I decided for our first wedding anniversary we would celebrate in the first state - We picked Blue Hen because the reviews were lovely, the prices were fair, the response time from Amy &...

I stayed 3 nights in the Cassatt room, and found it very clean, comfortable (great bed!) and private. The location happened to be ideal for me. It has a bucolic feel, even though it is just a couple of miles from town. Be prepared for some intermittent car noise from a road that's very close to the front of the...
