Excellent B&B. Built in 1692. Delicious breakfasts. Amy is wealth of information and a delightful hostess. Convenient location. Clean rooms. We'll go back. Lot's of historical sites in the area. TV in the suite, not in upstairs bedrooms

Very friendly hosts, who were accomodating to our needing to arrive much earlier than planned in order to change clothes for a wedding. They make a big effort with food and drink--lovely baked goods. The beds are comfortable too.

This is a nice B&B, and was well located for us for visiting friends in Newark DE and also heading to Chadds Ford. The building has history and charm, and the hosts were friendly, as were the 2 dogs, so sweet! The breakfasts were great! The decor was nice, with nice art on the walls and good mattresses too. But... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we appreciate that very much. We apologize about the yard but because of the wet weather we’ve had for the past several days our landscapers postponed maintenance. In regard to the lighting in the living room, the two wall sconces are our only option for normal lighting. In addition, the... More

(We actually went in September of 2015 but I forgot to write a review earlier - We stayed in the Mary Cassatt Room) My husband & I decided for our first wedding anniversary we would celebrate in the first state - We picked Blue Hen because the reviews were lovely, the prices were fair, the response time from Amy &... I stayed 3 nights in the Cassatt room, and found it very clean, comfortable (great bed!) and private. The location happened to be ideal for me. It has a bucolic feel, even though it is just a couple of miles from town. Be prepared for some intermittent car noise from a road that's very close to the front of the... More

We spent 3 nights at this wonderful B & B to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were greeted by Amy, our innkeeper, a Happy Anniversary sign, balloon and wedding bells! Amy's personal touches included a card and We received the kind of welcome a friend would give us. There is an amazing history that goes with the house and the... More

Spent three lovely nights at the Blue Hen while my son competed in a lacrosse tournament at U Delaware. Amy is a wonderful host and fed me well, and gave great recommendations (and driving directions) for things to do around town. She even sent me off each day with fresh baked goods for my son.

Just finished a truly amazing long weekend at the Blue Hen B&B. I threw myself a grown-up slumber party and invited friends from far and near, some who stayed over and some who came and went depending on the event. Amy and Don went above and beyond to make us comfortable – and we literally took over the whole place!... More

Liked the location her being just west of town. Makes it easy to get to places like Winterthur and Longwood Gardens as well as getting back to town and the University. We stayed in the Wyeth room and it was nice. Breakfast during the week was continental, pretty much the same both mornings. I understand weekend breakfasts are full and... More

My wife and I stayed at the Blue Hen at the beginning of May, 2016 and had a very comfortable stay. The Innkeeper, Amy, was very helpful and accommodating and always had a suggestion for sights to see or places to eat. The Blue Hen's rates are very competitive. Since it was continually rainy, we never got to explore the... More

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We appreciate it very much. The bathroom for the “Cassatt” separates the 1840 part of the house from the 1692 part and was at the time the “new addition”. As such, it’s the secondary emergency access to the rear stairs and cannot be locked at any time for safety concerns.... More
