We've been staying at Anchorage (usually a couple times a year, Summer and Fall) for a few years, now. It's always been stellar but this visit things were kind of off. There were problems with hot water, heating and some flies. I'm sure the management will sort these things out by the time we are ready to visit again. Great staff, quiet atmosphere, clean up to date rooms, and loads of parking.
We were happy to find a place that would accommodate a 1 night stay on a summer weekend. The room was big and also clean. It was convenient to restaurants and shopping. And we were just a couple of minutes from the beach the next morning. Easy check-in and check-out too.
It’s a few minutes from the beach 10 minutes maybe. We had one of the older rooms this time . The last time we had a new room they are step up from old rooms , Room was clean WiFi worked ok . Guy next to us was a pain sat outside smoking the whole time . It’s a step up from the really cheap places. The guy in the office helped us out when we requested something.
We were only staying one night so the Anchorage was good for us. This is not really close to the Beach so know that; Depending on Traffic it could be Ten to Twenty minutes. It is very near the Outlet Stores. The room was clean and nice. The Beds were good I slept really well.
I wanted to take my family to the beach but on a budget. I don't mind foregoing amenities since I rarely spend much time at the hotel anyway. My may concern is cleanliness. After some research I decided to book at Ancorage because it was inexpensive and has some pretty decent review regarding cleanliness. I was sorely disappointed. My room smells like an ashtray. And not like the last occupants may have smoked but like someone smoked in this room for a decade straight. Mind you this is a non smoking room. I am contemplating checking out early.
This place was affordable, in a GREAT location, and was clean/newer than anticipated. The exterior of the building still looks somewhat dated, but it looked like the room had just been repainted/decorated. King bed was big and comfortable. Parking downtown in Bar Harbor gets difficult sometimes, so having free parking here was awesome. We weren't there to spend a whole heck of a lot of time in the hotel either, were out hiking, eating and enjoying the trip, but it was a great place to come back to and rest. Would definitely stay here again.
full Covid safety in place here. slightly better than your average roadside motel. front desk man a bit terse but a decent fellow. easy parking right outside most rooms. if mobility is an issue, there is no elevator to upper floor. our one king room was in the first floor "tower" area (photo 31 on Hotels.com page I believe) had two issues. first was that the exterior lights just outside the room’s windows were extremely bright and the curtains could in no way black this out. it seemed like daylight all night. very unpleasant. second, and i think this issue is throughout the motel, is the walls are very thin and any noise next too or above you is easily heard. toilets, kids, showers, etc. so if you can work through these issues, it's okay for a night or two. if these things disturb you, look elsewhere.…
This turned out to be a super clean, quiet option for an overnight stay at the beach. Everybody’s prices were inflated for the holiday travelers, so this was a reasonable option. Another plus was its proximity to Surf Bagel for breakfast.
My wife and I made an excellent choice when we stayed 2 nights in Rehoboth Beach recently. This motel has been recently renovated and our room was excellent. Very quiet and clean. The staff was very helpful when we realized that my wife had not packed her hair dryer (life saver). The location is very convenient to many great restaurants and activities. We would recommend the Anchorage Motel to everyone.
A clean, convenient place to stay close to Lewes. It’s a motel, so none of the frills some of us are used to in fancier places, but it was clean and well kept. Bathroom was small, but bright, clean, and totally serviceable. It had clearly been updated recently. Staff was friendly and helpful. This place is older and close to Coastal Highway, so there is some road noise and it was a little bright in the room, even with the curtains closed. But the price was good and the location was great for me. I would stay here again for sure.
