Was not told that the lobby was going to be closed for construction or that the restaurants were not going to be open. The rooms are not very appealing and the rugs in the hall was are worn. The people at the front desk were not very welcoming and really gave no information about what was going. The hotel is also a maze
We stay here 10 times a year some weekend trips some 9 nights some in between. Have been doing this for years. I feel I have a good handle on this property and feel compelled to address some of the negativity in recent reviews. First off the front desk staff is amazing! Donna, Courtney, Jen , Hanna, Len and even Rollie are the best in the business. Craig the manager is fantastic and has always been helpful. Donna in house keeping is awesome! The hotel is an older beach hotel. It gets wear and tear like any beach hotel. That being said, winter, fall, spring ,summer the hotel is always spotless. There are people non stop cleaning the common areas no matter what season it is. Yes elevators break, but there are literally 5 elevators in the hotel that you can use if one is broken and honestly take the damn stairs if your not bringing luggage in and are capable of walking. The towels are always nice and clean, we always have multiple soap and shampoo bottles. The Ac or heat has never been loud in any of the 100’ s of rooms I have stayed in. If you have a problem with the kids in the pool what can the hotel do about it? Blame the damn parents. There is security all year round, in fact Donnelle is the best!!!! As far as the J1 kids, this is the way it is at every beach town and has been for years, there is going to be a barrier with language ,deal with it your at the beach. And the hotel locks every door in the place with the exception of the front lobby door. Every other entrance is always locked and I know this to be true as I often walk later in the night , its a fact at night they are all locked. In fact at check out today I saw the security guy unlocking a few of the doors at 6 am this morning. Thank you Sands for another great stay and we wouldn’t stay anywhere else . See you in 3 weeks!…
VERY ACCOMEDATING! Checked in after fearfully leaving another hotel! The gentleman who checked us in was amazing.Felt safe and Security at night. Great Location! Had a beach view!. Will Stay again! TY
Spouse and I just stayed there 2 nights for a class reunion. Joe McDonald handled everything pertaining to the reunion-VERY outstanding and “on top” things during event! Overall, our experience was wonderful! Very quiet for sleeping, very comfortable beds, adjustable thermostat in room, nice bathroom with plenty of plush towels and the usual necessities. Oceanfront open-air restaurant was delicious - had buffet breakfast this morning. All staff friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi service in room was spotty-gave up trying for IPad. Better on phone but inconsistent. Did speak to front desk about this and the suggestion given to solve this didn’t help. Highly recommend and would stay there again!
Check in and out easy. We ask to stay parked there after check out and did. Sea witch festival weekend. Room very nice. Clean. Beds and pillows comfy. Nice breakfast in restaurant there facing ocean.
Our room was on the ground level facing the pool and boardwalk. Great location! My husband said it wasn't private enough but if u closed the drapes it was fine! I like convenience and it was close to the restaurant which had a nice breakfast!
First visit to Delware and this hotel- for the most part lovely stay which the great part was the location. A ocean front room was not inexpensive but the view each eve and morning were amazing. Pros: Met Evelyn a beautiful spiritual lady from housekeeping( i believe she was the supervisor) upon checking in- she approached me in the lobby and greeted me so warmly and wished me nice stay. Then we had to summoned someone to the room because a large critter was discovered up on the wall. The person that arrived to was Evenlyn and she said critter turned out to be a monarch moth-and she proceeded to give my daughter and I a little history lesson in the monarch moths, very interesting. She utilized a broom handle with a rag tied to it and gently nudged it, it fluttered to a lower area upon which she captured it in her gloved hands and instructed my daughter to open the balcony door and she deftly released it. Such an interesting person, never ran into again after that day. Waitress Michelle at Kiwi Cove was also very nice. 2- Hotel is on the boardwalk and the beach is steps away. There was restaurant, little breakfast spot and coffee shop located adjacent to hotel. What one couldn't find a the hotel eateries -one only had to walk down and around the boardwalk areas. 3- there was never any trouble finding parking as each assigned has access to one parking space on site, such a pleasure Cons: Hotel is definitely older hotel much past time for updating and renovating, some rust present on bathroom fixture(towel racks)-chipped areas on toilet seat. Bathroom in general very small. Poor vent filtration in bathroom 2- Room AC could have yous some type of levers to direct flow of air- room would be extremely cold at back of room( near head of beds) and warm at front of room The main positive was the balcony had amazing view of the ocean-beach and boardwalk. TIP: for those traveling with a medical device bring and extension cord for outlets located on opposite far side of beds. The outlet that i had to use necessitated me to actually move box spring a little to access the outlet. I always travel with a 6 foot extension cord for that reason. table lamp provides two outlets which will probably be utilized to charge your electronic devices. …
Great location. We were there for 3 nights- never got room service! Called desk late afternoon for fresh towels and bar of soap. Next day we were still getting dressed when maid showed up-told her we’d be out in 15 min. As we left, we saw she was in the room next to ours. Returned 4 hrs later- room not touched. No extra door lock on connecting door to next room-just no door knob on one side.
We stayed in two different ocean view rooms, both with excellent views. This hotel is right on the boardwalk, very close to the ocean. The location can't be beat. It's a bit run down, though. Also, there is coffee in the rooms but no tea. Have never been to a place that caters only to coffee drinkers and ignores tea drinkers.
My room had a beautiful view of the ocean. Hotel is just steps away from the beach and minutes away from shopping. The location can't be beat!!. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Fantastic housekeeping department. Did not want for a thing. I would stay here again for sure. My room was very clean too!! Thank you for a wonderful stay!!
