This little island is a great place to visit if you're in southwest Florida. There are secluded cabins in which to stay, but many go just to eat at the restaurant. The interior is festooned with 1,000's of dollar bills which is a story unto itself. However, while one might not rate the menu as gourmet, the fish is local,...

Glad to hear you enjoyed our cuisine! Tour boats come over to our island on a daily basis, or one can opt for a water taxi or private charter. Our island cabins are of varying sizes and make for great weekend getaways, by yourself or bring the whole family!

Rebecca and Michelle are always happy to make our guests’ stay memorable and enjoyable. Come back soon for another vacation “away from it all”. Bring the whole family, or book a cozy cottage for two. We have accommodations for groups of almost any size!

We've visited Cabbage Key a few times now with various family and friends, we love the outlook while dining and having the tortoise strolling by is just another bonus, even though most people were calling them Turtles! Food is always good although the last time my black beans were very watery. Our last visit we actually walked the nature trail...

Sounds like your group had quite an adventure! Our Gopher Tortoises were very grateful that you noticed the difference between them and other Turtles. Rebecca was tickled pink to hear your kind words about her service! We can’t wait to have you back to visit us again!

Great atmosphere and food. Super service by Josh. Been there several times for lunch. Always great time. I hear that the dinner meal is also outstanding; only need to find a way there, as its only accesible by boat.

Josh was very happy to hear your positive review! Our dinner atmosphere is very different than our lunch, and still a great experience for all. There are several water taxi services and charter boats that make dinner trips over to Cabbage Key. Feel free to give us a call for more information on enjoying Chef Steve’s amazing nightly chef specials!

A great stop by boat. Food is good and the cheeseburger a must. The dock hands are very helpful making pulling up easy. Be sure to call in advance to make sure they have room. There is limited space. Also it was helpful to find out when the tour boats will be there. We arrived after they left and we're...

We are very pleased to hear you enjoyed your meal! While we always appreciate our guests calling ahead, especially with boats 50 feet or larger, there is no telling when the docks will fill up. The turn-over rate for docking space opening up can be fairly quick, and our lunchtime crowds can depend on how nice the weather is, as...

This was our first trip to cabbage Key. The Harbor Master made it very easy to dock. The restaurant setting was fun and relaxing. The Mahi Mahi sandwich was great and Marcie was an excellent waitress. She was very accommodating knowing we were on a tight time frame.

Mary is a new fantastic addition to our staff, here at Cabbage Key. We are very glad she has joined our team! And remember folks, every dollar that falls from our walls is donated to various local charities. So some on down and tape your name to the walls, ceilings, support beams, counters, doorframes…. Any spare inch you can find!

Getting here is half the fun! Arrival by boat only - ferry or private boat. Cabin rentals are available. Need exercise? Explore the island with the well marked trails. Need ice? Ask at the bar for a big bag full. Seating in or out - no A/C. Great sandwiches, full meals, snacks, beer, full bar. Fun place to just sit...

Rebecca always enjoys seeing her guests come back time and again! She is an excellent server, whom we are thrilled to have on our staff. Our restaurant is open air, until the winter chill rolls in. Our Dock Master works very hard, and is always thankful when his service is appreciated. Our resident Gopher Tortoises love visiting with our guests, and are wild roaming on our island. Marci was delighted to hear your compliment! Come back soon for a holiday event, or maybe a quick bite to eat for lunch!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Cabbage Key is a 100 acre island located five miles off of Pine Island, FL in the Pine Island Sound. The Inn, built in the 1940's by the family of Mary Roberts Rinehart, now houses our famous Restaurant & Dollar Bill Bar and six guest rooms. The rooms in the Inn are all different with old Florida charm - they do not have TVs, phones, or refrigerators. We have seven cottages on the island, ranging from a 1 bedroom/1 bath cottage to 3 bedroom/3 bath waterfront units. All cottages have refrigerators, televisions (no cable) and coffee makers, some units have full kitchens. Our restaurant is open seven days a week and serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. If you want to relax on a beach...we do not have one here. But, Cayo Costa is a close kayak or boat ride away. This is a great retreat to discover "Old Florida", relax with a book, fish from our docks & watch the boats go by. ... more   less
