We recently had the pleasure of staying in the Winchester Cottage, which is a very nicely and tastefully updated 1930's Florida cottage just up the road from the main hotel. The cottage has 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a great connected living room and dining room, and a well updated kitchen along with off-street parking. The 3rd bedroom also includes a...

Loved this place! Skip was a gracious host. The town feels like small towns in the 1960's. The room was tiny but homey and comfortable. It was very clean and the bed was great. It's a lovely couples or ladies retreat.

We appreciate the nice notes! The room size was one of our greatest challenges in the 2001 remodeling. It seems that in 1900, there was no such thing as a queen bed, they had twins or "standard" beds. In two of the rooms, the beds had to be set at 45 degrees so that the doors could open! A very...

We have been staying in nearby towns for years and wanted to try a different setting. The accommodations and grounds were beautiful. The hotel has a great - low key vibe. Skip and Kathy have created a gem in Carrabelle. Within walking distance of many great restaurants and shops. Lovely

This is our second time at the Old Carrabelle Hotel, but certainly not our last. Skip and Kathy are superb hosts and have created a wonderful place to relax. We requested the Magnolia room, which is where we stayed last time but it was booked so we were in the Hemingway. It was just as nice (as long as you...

Skip & Kathy are wonderful hosts. The hotel is meticulously clean, and quaint. Quiet town, and we like it that way. Awesome oysters and blues band at the one bar in town. We will always come back there!

Thanks for the nice words from our Canadian-Islander friends, eh? No, not Canadian Islands, but Canada and the Caribbean. We have been the fortunate beneficiaries of serving as designated stopover on the way from south to north for a number of years. May your future stopovers be many!

The stay was very exciting, we did not see the owners until time to check out, I guess they were staying downstairs. when preparing to pack and leave the owner met me as I was walking to the front door, '' mr. Fowler was that a siren that went off in your room at 4am this morning?'' No sir it...

Your comments were interesting. Our suggestion, before you "probably stay" here again, is to articulate your comments so that some corrections can be made. You may rest assured, however, that the non-working solid brass doorknobs will still be non-working in the future, and that the deadbolt will still handle security. We have a fondness for genuine articles. Skip and Kathy

The Carrabelle Hotel was convenient to the entire village. Our room was very nice and the setting was quite quaint. The Carrabelle Museum, the John David Patton Park and the WWII Museum are just some of the sites to visit.

My wife and I love this place, it was our first stay here and we already booked reservations for next year the same time frame. Location perfect to walk around town to local establishments and a short drive to various other attractions and local towns.

Hi Kim--- In addition to your kind words (for which we thank you), you've reminded us of something. You didn't mention that your visits are business trips, same as a small number of our other visitors. Now we aren't a corporate headquarters location to say the least, but there are a fair number of business travelers in and out. And...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Old Carrabelle Hotel in Carrabelle, Florida is a "Key West style inn on The Forgotten Coast". Once the end-of-the-line railroad hotel, now you may enjoy all the modern comforts in an Old Florida casual atmosphere. There is just something about the experience of a 1900-ish inn at the coast (or a coastal cottage at the coast) that no newer motel-hotel can equal. And we are a very different B&B operation - free beach restaurant breakfasts for Hotel guests, and self check-in -- just for starters. Make your own reservation online, and receive back a confirmation with all the info you may need. Don't Expect: traffic lights, lots of people, McHamburgers, bungee jumps or late-night noise. Do expect: the best seafood, eco-activity opportunities in every direction, cultural/historical activities and a lot of peace and quiet time on the property, in the forest or on the beach or water! ... more   less
