We stayed here in May 2023 and we really liked the resort. The hotel sits on the bay, so there is no beach access directly at the hotel, but they have a pool and beach bar with a great view. We saw so many dolphins. They also have a little golf cart that will drive you down to the local Sand Key beach which is a small, quiet beach. It was not crowded at all. They offer chair/umbrella rentals for a fee, I think $35 a day, but not positive. They had a little food truck there and public restrooms/changing rooms. When you are ready you just call the number and the golf cart comes and picks you up. The front desk provides towels and water. It's perfect. One of the best features is the hop-on hop-off trolley which is free to hotel guests. This trolley took us into the main Clearwater Beach/Pier 60 area which was loaded with restaurants and bars and lots of things to do, as well as the very large public Clearwater Beach. We did a beer tasting at the Three Daughter's Brewery, then lunch at Crabby's, and a tiki boat tour. It was such a fun day. Then, hop back on the trolley which drops us at the door of our hotel. Next door to the hotel, there is also a little strip of a few small restaurants/diners and little convenience store with alcohol, and some souvenier shops. This strip is connected to the hotel, but aside from that, it's not a very walkable area- however with the golf cart to the beach and the trolley, that was not an issue for us at all. The restaurant is Watercolour Grillhouse and was great. I left a separate review there, but if you go, ask for Lori, she was great! The pool/waterfront bar food was also great and they make great drinks! We had a balcony ocean view room. It was large and clean. We didn't hear any noise or have any neighbors. The service was great throughout the hotel. We would definitely stay here again.…

Beyond the beautiful location, the 5 day stay was everything we expected and more. Dan M checked us in at 1 am on Thursday morning making certain we had everything we needed. At the pool our hostess Kim (sp?) C was friendly and attentive. The room was clean, the room had great views, and the Saturday evening event included good food.

very nice hotel. the pool and the pool food are great. the restaurant in site had delicious food the area is not crowded. this is not within walking distance of main attractions but there is free trolley to get around (with your hotel key) and a beach buggy to take you to the other side of the island to use sand key beach (5 min drive). sand key park is nice for families too and within walking distance. definitely recommend if you’re trying to get away from the crowds. I stayed at the sheraton on sand key island and the hilton near pier 60 and this hotel was nicer.

After attending our niece's wedding at another Clearwater Beach hotel for 3 nights, we moved onto the Marriott on Sand Key. Our 4 night stay was excellent! I requested an early check-in via the app and was delighted the front desk was able to accommodate us. As a Titanium member, I was thanked for my loyalty and given breakfast coupons for the continental buffet, plus two coupons that could be used for free drinks at the hotel's bars. Our room was on a high floor, with amazing views of the bay. Our room was spotless, and everything was in excellent working order. I loved that we were able to specify daily housekeeping, it's a rarity these days! Beds were comfortable, there was plenty of seating areas in the suite including on the balcony. Water pressure was great in the shower and plenty of towels were provided. There was a good-sized mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Bottled water was re-stocked each day. My only nit on the room was the small size of the bathroom. You definitely can't get two people in there getting ready at the same time. The continental breakfast buffet was complimentary for Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador members. It included oatmeal, meats, cheeses (including an addicting pimento cheese spread!), fruits, yogurts, pastries, cereals, and fresh toast from the kitchen. It was $5 to upgrade to the hot buffet, which included eggs or an omelet made to order. Definitely a good deal! Although most days, the continental breakfast was more than enough food. We loved the pool area! Plenty of lounge chairs with both sun and shade. The pool was heated and clean. The hot tub was tucked away in a nice quiet spot. Service was excellent out by the pool - the servers were fantastic. A real credit to the hotel. There are several restaurants located in the shopping plaza next door, as well as a small deli market where you could pick up (pricey!) soda, snacks, beer, wine. In addition, you can take the Jolly Trolley for free by showing your Marriott room key and head over to Clearwater Beach. We walked to the Sheraton one night for sunset, picking up a to-go drink from their bar and heading down to the beach. And in the mornings, we walked the Sand Key bridge for stunning sunrises and did some shelling at low tide in Sandy Key park. It was a fantastic stay - we would definitely come back. And next time we will find the bar at Watercolor much earlier in our stay! Sadly we didn't know the bar was there until our 3rd night. My husband and I stayed here at the end of March. The hotel was beautiful and had a lot of amenities. We enjoyed the pool bar for drinks and lunch. Watching dolphins from our balcony was a real joy. All staff are super nice and accommodating. They even offer free shuttle to the beach and back. The restaurants in the hotel are all very good. Also there are several nice restaurants within walking distance, Backwaters being one of our favorite. We absolutely loved the Sand Key area and the Marriott Suites. We loved it so much that we have booked a room here again at the end of September, can’t wait to get back!!

The Hubs and I just returned from our third trip to Clearwater, Florida, and we are still hooked on this place like a fish on a line! This time, we set up shop at the Clearwater Beach Marriott Suites on Sand Key, which is just south of Clearwater Beach proper. It's like the baby brother of Clearwater Beach, but with all the same charm and none of the crowds! The Marriott hotel sits on the bayside, overlooking the water, and if you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of some dolphins swimming around. Just make sure you don't drop your phone in the water trying to get that perfect Instagram shot! And while the beach is just across the street, be warned, my friends, that staying on the bayside means you either have to bring your own beach setup or pay for a chair. But hey, at least you'll get a good workout carrying those chairs back and forth! Now, let's talk about food, shall we? The Watercolour Grille at the Marriott is a must-try, according to one of the locals we chatted up. Don't let the fact that it's in a hotel fool you, folks. The food is top-notch, and it's definitely on our list for next time! And while the complimentary breakfast buffet wasn't the best we've ever had, it was still some decent breakfast grub to get us fueled up for a day of fun in the sun. Speaking of fun, the Marriott is family-friendly and has all the amenities you need to keep the whole gang happy. A 24-hour fitness center for those of you who like to stay fit on vacation (we prefer the "vacation bod" look), an outdoor pool with a 35-foot waterfall, and an outdoor bar and seating area for all your poolside refreshment needs. Just make sure you stake out a lounge chair early, folks, because they go faster than a hot knife through butter! But don't worry, if you need a break from all that pool action, hop on the "Jolly Trolley" to get yourself to the downtown Clearwater area. The best part? The trolley is free when you show your room key! And if you're a beer snob (like The Hubs), they even have trolley brewery tours. How's that for a good time? Now, if you're like me and love a good artsy festival, make sure to check out Clearwater during the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival. This year, they had a walk through the decades from the 1950s to the 1990s. I mean, who doesn't love a good throwback? And while the Sand Key area may not have a ton of convenient stores, they do have a Dunkin' Donuts for all you caffeine junkies out there. Plus, there are some cute boutique shops to peruse. And while the beaches in Sand Key may not be the best for shelling, they do have some fun pink and purple clam shells that are perfect for a DIY decor project (or just for showing off to your jealous friends back home). The only downside we noticed about staying outside of Clearwater proper was that it can take a hot minute to get an Uber or Lyft. You’ll get one, you might just need to try a few times. But hey, with all the fun to be had, who needs a ride anyway? Just grab another drink and enjoy the beach life! Sadly, all good things must come to an end. The nearest airport is the Tampa Airport but it is a breeze to navigate. Sand Key in Florida and Clearwater, Florida are both wonderful destinations, but there are a few reasons why someone may choose to visit Sand Key over Clearwater. Sand Key offers a more laid-back atmosphere than Clearwater. It's a quieter area, perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The beaches in Sand Key are less crowded than those in Clearwater, which makes for a more relaxing and peaceful beach experience. Sand Key offers stunning views of the bay, with the opportunity to see dolphins swimming right outside your window. Plus, the proximity to Clearwater is still convenient, with the "Jolly Trolley" offering free transportation from Sand Key to downtown Clearwater. Sand Key is a great choice for those seeking a more tranquil beach experience with easy access to nearby attractions. …

I arrived late at the Marriott and was greeted by Dan M, the night supervisor, who was very gracious, got me checked in quickly, and explained all the amenities of the hotel. I was there on company business so had breakfast vouchers for 2 mornings. I was leaving before breakfast on the second day so told Dan I only needed one voucher. On the day I left, Dan had prepared a to-go bag of goodies for me since he knew I would not be having breakfast at the hotel. I thought this was incredibly gracious and definitely going the extra step on his behalf. The hotel restaurant is fabulous by the way!
