We just returned from staying at this location for 4 night. Our stay was enjoyable and the best thing about staying here is that this hotel is family owned and run. They truly care about their guests and seem to go above and beyond to...More
Our room smelled of something (smoke?) and the safety latch had been wrenched off the door. Breakfast bar selection was poor and the quality was low - everything except the apples (sugary pastries, sugary donuts) came out of a box . Nothing fresh except perhaps...More

Not that close, but which beach are you talking about? There's a nice beach at Fred Howard Park, which I'd guess is about a 20 minute drive from the hotel. The beach at Fred Howard Park is very nice and a short drive away, but, the beach at Caladesi Island is world class! I'd recommend it if you have the time to go there. I believe the nearest town to it is Dunedin, and you have to go to the state park there and take a ferry to the beach. As I recall, the ferry costs about $5.00 per person, but it's worth it. It's a nice short ride through the Mangroves to get there, and there is a locker room where you can change into your swim suit, a snack bar and a shower to rinse off.
Caladesi Island beach is well worth the extra drive and the fare for the ferry. If you're only going to one beach, splurge and go to Caladesi!
