This is an excellent place! Great drinks, better views, yummy fresh food with generous portion sizes, and our server Missy was awesome and hilarious. Would definitely go here anytime I'm in Clearwater!
This is a beautiful hotel. We are a family of 5 and couldn’t believe the amount of room we had with 1 room, 2 King beds and a pullout sofa. The rooms and bathrooms are lovely. The views are stunning over the gulf, we were unlucky not to see a full sunset, however, the thunder and lightning over the sea were just as exciting. The pool area is kept lovely and clean and all staff are very helpful and attentive.
Looks great on first entrance and the rooms are great. The management is unfriendly and non accommodating. There is literally no one working at the resort that can give you a straight answer to anything when asked. It’s absolutely not worth the views or convenience to the beach.
Only 2 nights stay but great experience - helped by a free upgrade to a corner suite. The resort was easy to locate and the valet parking was extremely efficient. Speedy check-in and assigned a great room - suite with mini-kitchen/dining; lounge; large bedroom - and extremely large verandah (shaded all afternoon though) with a wonderful view of the beach. Good cooked breakfasts taken in the main dining room - but one evening dinner reservation was”screwed up” - the time on my e-mail confirmation differed by an hour to that on the resort system - yet they insisted their resort system took precedence? Resolved by another guest agreeing to swap reservations - rather than the resort accepting responsibility. Notwithstanding the meal reservation hiccup - overall a great stay - easy to recommend or revisit.…
The Opal Sands is posh and well run. The hotel was built about 6 years ago and is decorated in modern ocean shades The lobby is lovely but not pretentious. Rooms are very nice and all have water views. We stayed through tropical storm Nicole and the hotel weathered the storm well. Before the storm, the staff nicely finessed problems in the kitchen by sending us to another restaurant nearby. The entire staff was super friendly and eager to please. Definitely hope to return.
My husband and I came here with our girls for a much needed beach vacation. We got a suite so we’d have sufficient room for two pack n plays. We were extremely disappointed to learn that the “gulf front” suites are actually gulf views. They are east and northeast facing. There is also a large active construction site across the street. Instead of watching the ocean and listening to the waves we had to scream to each other over the noise of city constriction. The staff was pleasant and completely useless. They explained that it’s a “gulf front” view bc you can see the ocean from the side … I also completely understand they have no control over construction but they have the ability to warn their guests who will most definitely be affected by it. Instead they just acted like they didn’t understand the problem. Unfortunately, a hurricane was supposed to be affecting our travel plans on the day of departure so we requested assistance in booking an extra day. They said they had availability but refused to answer any questions about it. After speaking to a manager they said it would “be easier to just do it online bc they were at 99% capacity.” None of our questions regarding where the room would be or what it would include could be answered in person or online apparently. It was very strange. We were extremely disappointed with our stay here and chose to go home early. As a side note for parents of littles, neither of the cushions fit in the pack n plays. This was ok for our 2 year old but our infant kept getting stuck in between the bottom and the cushion and would have to scream for help. …
We have been to Opal Sands 3 times and love the location, staff and rooms. All the rooms are ocean front. We love sitting on our spacious balcony, watching the sunset. The rooms are clean with a coffee bar, frig and the shower is amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful. We love Megan out by the pool service bringing us the best drinks. She is sweet and knowledgeable. They have a great gym too. Our only complaint would be having to pay 25.00 for parking each day and the hotel fees . We will be back jan 8, 2023. Thanks to all the staff.
First let me start by saying this is my 5th visit to opal sands, and although it has a stuffy environment, it is one of the nicest properties on the beach. I arrived at the hotel for check in and asked the nice young lady if there were any upgrades available. She checked her computer and said yes we have one and sent the bellman with our luggage to the room. As she tried to finish the booking, she ran into an issue and went back to check with her supervisor. She came back only to apologize saying we don’t have any. I asked to speak to a supervisor because it is unprofessional to be told one thing, then management to override it. The manager came to speak with me, was apologetic and said we are sold out and gave me room 803. I went up to our room but something was missing; the full length mirror. I came back down and requested another room. The same manager stated that check in is at 4pm, (I arrived at noon) and nothing will be available till then. She then asked me if I would you like to GO get our luggage or have the bellman get them. This is where I felt we were being treated differently. Why would I go get my luggage from the room??? I’m on vacation! It really is a shame the way we were treated. She then called me to tell me that all the king front rooms (room category I booked on their website) don’t have full length mirrors. I have no choice but to stay at the hotel because they take full payment days before check in. I am sure this review won’t make a difference to anyone in the hotel because they have a certain client-tell, but I’m writing this for any one thinking if staying here. Think twice before staying Irene…
So far so good we came here Oct 23rd we’re leaving on the 28th there’s a lot to see and do in walking distance and the property is nice good bars & food. We were checked into a beautiful suite only to find it was not ours LOL. We were put into a normal room same view it was fine who spends time in the room anyway. Everyone is very professional and courteous. Look out in the ocean by the pool deck, lots of fun boats tikis, pirate, shark! We recommend a stay here, its couples, groups and family friendly. Construction is on the lest side for another 3 years so steer clear they start early. It will be a connecting sister hotel. You have to eat at Sea Guini the staff and service also get 5 stars Michael was our server.
Wow… what a hotel. Absolutely loved our 4 night stay here with our teenager. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean with beautiful views. The cookies and water was a nice treat each day. We ate by the pool each day where service was excellent. Really recommend.
