Resort was very clean, staff was attentive and friendly and the bed was SO comfortable. Food was excellent. I would definitely stay again. One of my family members had a wedding at the resort. The grounds were beautiful, no BIG BUGS or mosquitos annoying us. It was quite the pleasant stay.
The Henderson Resort Spa Destin Beach Florida. The good. The resort is beautiful, the entrance is villa style lined with palm trees and tropical plants. The grounds are well maintained. The rooms are spacious with a balcony. The resort itself I would not argue lives up to the expectation of luxury touted by Travel and Leisure and other publications. The pictures do represent the aesthetics. The bad. We noticed the lack of attention to detail when we entered the room, which should have been a red flag. There was no do not disturb sign, resulting in mandatory turn down service. In the current environment, limiting the time and access to our safe space seemed reasonable. The option to decline would have sufficed. We asked the front desk for a do not disturb sign, they took our name and room number with no follow through. The next day we asked housekeeping and they had our sign in minutes as well as the iron our room lacked. This was after being awakened at 0730 to hammering as they worked on the room next door. This time a face to face encounter with management took place. We told her about the work being done and noise in the room next door. She said she was on a call but took our name and number and would call us back. There was no follow through, we never received a call. Spent the night wondering if another rude awakening was in store. A spa resort is synonymous with rest and relaxation which was not achieved. The ugly. We spent time at the beach. The beach does live up to expectations. We stopped at the Horizon bar for some drinks. There was one guest at the bar. We stood at the bar waiting for the bartender to acknowledge us. The acknowledgement never came. She made two drinks, asked the guest how his drink was and proceeded to make a third drink. Meanwhile we are just standing there a few feet in front of her. We have never been treated with such disregard. We left in disgust at being treated this way as a guest. No eye contact, I’ll be right with you, nothing. An explanation is in order this is not acceptable as a guest of any establishment. Especially one touting luxury.…
I’ve only had one other pedicure In my life but this one was awesome! The lady Ms. Amalia was so so sweet and patient with me as I am not used to this. She was so friendly and just really made the visit worthwhile. 😁 If I ever come back here again I will definitely come back to this!
5 Stars for the view, 1 star service unless your a known local millionaire. When we got there we ordered our 2 drinks and a cheese plate. Drinks came out quick since we were 2 of 6 people there. Never got the cheese plate even though the table that sat down by us a half hour later got their cheese plates immediately. Our drinks sat empty for a half hour while we tried to get our waiter but no luck. We ended up going to bar to get our tab so we could get food elsewhere and they tried to run our card without showing us the bill and when we requested the bill first, there was 2 things on there we never got! Our cheese plate of course and an extra premium drink!
Not the resort for peaceful and relaxing. On Friday they had “Private events.” Paying room guests were not able to use the adult pool or hot tub (because they were closed for the events.) Access to beach was also blocked.Dining was over run with event guests. Saturday they closed the Rooftop bar because of another private event. When we complained it was suggested we go off site. The DJ at the Friday night event played extremely loud hip hop and went late. We dined our last night at Primrose but a very large and loud table ruined everyone’s evening.
