My family visits Everglades City each year. Having lunch at The Rod and Gun Club's restaurant after a morning fishing/nature expedition is our family tradition. Walking inside is like stepping back a century in time. You're surrounded by antique dark wood -- thick moldings/woodwork, wood floors, wood bannisters, bead board, knotty pine, etc. We like the fried grouper sandwich, but...

Visiting friends on Marco Island who took us to visit Everglades City. Said we "had" to stop at the Rod and Gun Club. They high standards though I was not sure what to expect looking at the outside of the building. I was completely blown away by what we saw on the inside. We were simply amazed once we walked...

Do NOT eat here - the food was really bad. We stayed over for one night. The lady at reception was very unfriendly, but got us checked in okay. The room was comfortable and clean and had recently been redone. The bathroom was great. There is a fan and AC (noisy, but effective). We made the mistake of eating at...

I recently found myself in Everglades City, I came across the Rod and Gun Club. I first would love to say how blown away I was with the beauty of the building. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a very welcoming staff. After seeing the place I decided to stay. They got me checked in with...

If the woman who identified herself as a member of the owning family and as the manager, took a course on Hospitality and read the other poor reviews published here the Rod and Gun could be easily made a desirable place to dine. We have never had a more embarrassing dinner experience. The foreign couple next to us did not...

The everglades rod and gun is like walking into a time capsule, it is an amazing building right on the river. The staff is friendly, the rates are good and the rooms are awesome, we had a 4 poster king bed, real hardwood floors and a brand new bathroom, also a mini fridge. We caught fish off the dock right...

Spent one night here while driving across the state. Jeff at the front desk was very helpful and gave us a great room, which was very reasonable this time of year because it's off season, and Everglades City is pretty much abandoned. Rooms are very clean and have an old Florida feel. Beds were comfy, sheets and pillows were nice...

Visited last week and was impressed with the old building and grounds. Its a very lovely building with original floors and furniture. The sitting on the river is beautiful. We did not eat at the restuarant but several people seem to be enjoying their meal. Will return when we have more time to stay at one of the cottages and eat.

History - loved it- very friendly and helpful staff. Family feel. On the water and a pool. Small cabin like rooms on the water with palm trees and birds chirping. Watching the sun set. Not fancy but very unique. Two beds in room for a reasonable price. The gun club is like a small museum. Great porch seating for lunch...
