Have thought about staying here a few times. When in the area visiting family we usually stay at the Courtyard or Residence Inn. As world travellers we look for both luxury and value for money. We wanted a romantic and relaxing week away- read all the reviews and decided to take the leap. We booked an ocean front room - one of the higher priced rooms. We received texts and emails pre arrival and made a few requests. At checkin we quickly learned the text messaging was a bot and not a person at all. As a result none of our requests were addressed. The staff at checkin were mediocre at best. We wanted a quiet top floor room and there was debate whether there was one available or not and in the end we were on the 4th floor. We learned without any help from the front deck parking was not included in the $40/day resort fee. The fee covers internet - seriously in 2024- BUT if you want better internet it’s another $10. Valet parking is not included (another $10/day + tip) So basically for $40/day there is bottled water and saw some random oranges and unhealthy cookies on the floor. The room was very small - see any average hotel room. The people upstairs sounded like they were moving furniture constantly. Absolutely no glassware in the room just paper coffee cups and when asking for martini glasses at the bar got an eye roll and a hard no. They could not allow that. Certainly not what you’d expect at a luxury resort. Room had some insect issues (moths and dragon flies). Nespresso machine was excellent and the extra towels and blankets requested were in room. Room was damp and felt mouldy. Deck was like being in a bunker and had ocean view but was terribly small. Overall the room was very disappointing for the price. One highlight were the evening restaurant staff. Saw negative reviews on the restaurant but we only experienced great service (Elson was great l!) and the food was very good - was definitely overpriced but everything we had was delicious. I do not eat meat but that wasn’t an issue. Was going to book the spa before arrival but with a mandatory 20% tip and prices above $250/service was too big a risk for me - happy I did not based on our overall experience. At checkout was asked how was my stay and I replied “meh” and she said okay - nothing else and we’re too busy helping a lady wanting to rent bikes that to inquire about our stay. . So for $620 USD/night not good value for money. If it was $250 you would get what you paid for. Looking for luxury and exceptional service - keep looking.

Hello Susan F, Thank you for your feedback. Sounds like we failed you on all levels during your stay and I regret your dissatisfaction. Please allow me to address a few concerns. You referenced our use of "Bots" messaging you. Well, my humans had to chuckle a little since it is real people fulfilling requests not computer bots. The requests we had for your room was: High Floor, away from elevator and feather free pillows all of which were filled by a human.

Hotel's Favourite
We had a great stay at Hutchinson Shores. The hotel is beautiful and clean, staff is very friendly - housekeeping was prompt every day. The beach and pool was perfect for our kids (2 and 5). The food was great, and the kitchenette suite was convenient for our family. We will definitely be back!

Just an outstanding property. We decided to take a trip to this hotel last minute for a brief staycation over spring break. Sometimes you just win. The hotel is charming, the staff friendly, and the facility immaculate and updated. We booked a two room ocean front king suite, and were frankly blown away how perfect it was for two adults and two teens. So far the food has been excellent and the prices reasonable. In the last three months we have stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Key Biscayne, and the Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada, this probably edges them out in terms of proximity and relaxation. Kudos to the whole team. We will be back again, and again.

We just spent 5 days to escape the cold weather up north. From the time we pulled up to the hotel, until the time we left, we were amazed at the cleanliness of the hotel and the great customer service from the valets, front desk, housekeepers and beach attendants! We especially loved our time at the pool bar, where Carman would greet us and serve us up some great drinks! We are looking forward to making this a yearly tradition and can’t wait to come back next year!

Do not bother reserving a spot here if you are under 30. The staff will treat you like the scum of the earth. I stayed here in 2016 and again in 2024. Beautiful hotel, intolerable staff. Incredibly disappointed and will no longer be staying here or recommending to others.

Hello Dreamer, I am not quite how to address your review, but it does seem like we made you feel a certain way based on an arbitrary number (30). My apologies for causing you to take offense from something that was spoken or conveyed by a staff member. I fear that your experience may have been somewhere other than our resort due to us not existing in 2016.

We came for a romantic anniversary and visit with family who live in the area. We are highly experienced world travelers. Instead of using a third-party booking.com, hotels.com or other middle man, we booked in person with the resort, by phone, because we wanted to create a long term relationship since we expected to return many times to family in the area. We have learned from other businesses also that a direct reservation often allows greater flexibility if needed. (However this didn’t turn out to be the case. We might as well have saved some money and used a discount booking website.) THE GOOD: The staff were world class, and the facility and location are spectacular. We would like to do a shout-out to the dining staff: Candice who served us our anniversary dinner, and Yvonne who went the extra mile for us at breakfast. Resort staff don’t get any better than this. The cleaning staff were also unusually responsive, personable and effective. The reception staff were friendly and efficient. THE BAD: 1. Junk fees: The daily room rate we agreed to was $409 but they added hidden fees --things like “resort fee” (free water, use of beach chairs), room tax sales, room tax occupancy, resort fee tax sales, resort fee tax occupancy. So each night was actually $500. 2. The view: We expected to have a water view. We ended up with a view of the front entrance and valet parking lot, with some palm trees and a tiny sliver of water far in the distance. Unlike our room, the rooms directly across the hall from us had spectacular ocean views. We had no idea, when we were looking at the website, how much we would miss with the “sunset view” room rather than the ocean view room. A family member who had stayed here recommended this resort to us, but it turns out they had been upgraded to an ocean view so they had a completely different experience. 3. THE UGLY: The noise! We specifically asked for a quiet room. Our four nights included two nights with a very loud beep beep beep backup from some giant truck directly under our window, waking us up between 5 and 6 a.m. When we looked out of our balcony door to see what the heck was up, there was a terrible sewage smell coming from below, so we had to close our deck doors. The noise returned the next night. We didn’t even try to keep the deck open this time. 4. THE BOTTOM LINE: We will try another place next time.

Hello ellenh872, I appreciate the GOOD as I will share your comments with my team. The BAD items are easily avoidable. Book the water Oceanview room since the upgrade your family received might not be available at the time of arrival. Also, the "junk fees" (resort fee) that you mention are disclosed at the time of booking. The taxes...well... those are unavoidable and is one of the few certainties in life. The UGLY is not acceptable and please accept my most humble apologies for the disturbance to you during your stay. Ill finish from one movie buff to another......."One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six. Hutchinson Shores Resort and Spa is a lovely facility. The lobby, rooms and pool(s) were all lovely. There is easy beachfront access--and our well appointed, pristine room had a beach view. No complaints there. The restaurant--DRIFT(?) was massively disappointing. We--a party of four--ate dinner there on the first night of our stay. Though the server was delightful and attentive and the appetizers (hummus and spinach/artichoke dip) were tasty, the very expensive main entrees were ALL poorly prepared, tasteless, and, frankly, disappointing. One dish (the Scottish Salmon) was not even as described on the menu. My friend said it was inedible and a mush up. My dish--the grouper w/ lump crab over roasted veggies-was an overcooked piece of grouper over cooked potatoes, a slice of zucchini (yes, one slice) and a few carrot slivers (yes, slivers). Credit goes, however, to dessert. The blueberry crumble was very good! The executive chef who developed an interesting and inviting menu. Too bad he/she wasn't there to see that it was properly executed.

A lovely hotel with gorgeous views of the ocean. Staff very accommodating. Only $10.00 a day charge for parking. Beds plush and comfortable. Only the sound of the ocean But… Skip eating dinner at The Drift Restaurant on the premises. Pricey and poor.

I am quite impressed with the restaurant inside the resort. I’ve become a regular there as of recent actually. If you don’t know about the restaurant, you may never stumble upon it because they don’t have a sign outside for the restaurant but I do recommend stopping in at least once. Jodie is an amazing bartender I don’t see much but when I do it is very refreshing and the young man Tariq that works outside. Also, the manager Vanessa is very polite and always comes by and chats with me for a bit. Very hard working and very sweet lady. The food is great and the people who work there make the experience enjoyable, definitely worth a try.
