Comfortable bed and pillows, up to Marriott standards. Well equipped one-bedroom suite. Good location, at the northern edge of the sprawling senior development, The Villages. Good parking. Negatives include poor lighting (dim) in the living area and kitchen, the bedroom, and the bathroom. Our suite happened to be one for the disabled, but the water valve for the hand-held shower head was rusted and did not work.

We just returned from the Villages and were not impressed with this hotel. Our bed backed directly to the elevator mechanical room, which meant there was a loud noise every time someone used the elevator. I understand that a hotel is in business and needs to maximize usable space but this is really unfair to customers. We mainly book rooms to sleep in. The manager's response was maybe we would be lucky and no one would use the elevator. Our room (1 bedroom suite) was well laid out, but not maintained well. The shower fell apart while we were using it, there was blood on the bed linens, we did not get even 1 towel for each of us, the TV in the bedroom did not work, and there are no suitcase stands in the room. The pros - we liked the pool area and the breakfast.

Very disappointed, as a Marriott Titanium Elite member with over 1,000 nights, this is the property that needs the most work and improvement/upgrade of any I have stayed in. It is rundown, the room smelled, the property is just run down and worn out. Great location, good staff, but terrible cosmetics both inside and out. Won’t be staying here any longer.

Good things? Breakfasts varied and good, large clean area, staff courteous. Parking ample and well lit. Nice walking area. Located next to Spanish Springs Square. Beds comfy. From there, the place is a travesty. Mismatched and crazily placed worn furnishings in run down rooms (years of painting only covers so much). Some room to room noise, but walking out into the hallway results in very loud noise leaking out of every room. Creepy inhabitants hanging around outside their rooms texting and talking on phones at all hours. Outside doors left unlocked and open or didn't open at all with key cards lifted any sense of security. Check in backup even though 5 people behind desk (if mobile check-in thru Marriott app doesn't work, why offer it?) Solo traveling should be avoided; I would have left within 5 minutes, had I been staying there alone. Bath towels were thin and tiny. While I was afraid to open the stove, fridge wobbly and freezer had not been defrosted in years. I should have listened to my gut after reading the horrible reviews on multiple sites, but allowed my 4 relatives staying there at same time to sway my judgment. As the only Marriott property within reasonable commute of The Villages, they have a lock on full house reservations. Complainants to multiple staff and property manager constantly. I stayed several nights with Marriott and enjoyed my visit from start to finish. The staff was very friendly and helpful when it came to recommendations for good local places to eat, like gator's dockside and margarita republic, and events close to the hotel. I was pointed to the "square" where live bands played. The room was nice and clean which is a big plus for me. I really liked that the room came with a stove, giving me the option to cook if needed. Breakfast in the dining hall was delicious. 10/10 would stay again

Marriott recent purchased this property and should not have put it out for guests. Being a Titanium Life member I expected a Marriott quality operation when I booked two weekend nights. The check in was very good and the clerks were super nice, including gifts and warm cookies. The lobby area seemed disjointed, small, and worn. We had booked a suite and on entering it we knew at a glance we could not stay in this room. A battered kitchen area ran down one wall. Entering the sleeping area the carpet was actually torn to shreds. Everything felt worn and outdated. It had a bad smell that permeated even the hallway. We returned to the lobby and explained we were not staying, and were graciously refunded the charges. This created a quandary as we had a difficult time finding any suitable accommodations in the area. Holiday Inn came to our rescue. I am very disappointed with Marriott for putting this property out under their flag. Having spend hundreds of nights in their properties, I've never seen any so very, very run down. Booked for 3 nights, Thurs, Fri, Sat, and was $224 a night. We got to room and the main hallway smelled like someone was cooking a rotted waterbuffallo. Once in the room in was very rundown,beat up,dirty in the bathroom. Had to go to the bathroom after 4 hrs drive and the toilet didn't flush, the sink wouldn't drain, and the whole suite stunk. It is so run down and an old property I can't believe it's a Marriot property and especially for this price. I cancelled the booking and got the heck out of there. Writing this the next day after and my clothes I wore into that hotel still stink like that room smell. I was only there 15 min. Stay away from this place. I had to spray disinfect my luggage. The staff was very nice though and cancelled my reservation with no hesitation. It's in a good location in Spanish Springs, but to even rent it at any price, especially this price ,is RIDICULOUS! I drove 10 min away and stayed at a wonderful place for HALF the price. Marriot, you NEED to close this place down and do a complete revamp and remodel, although the floors are BADLY WARPED, I don't know how you are ever going to fix this mess of a property. Straight out of the 80’s. Firsts let me say the staff here are great! I am also always grateful for a place to lay my head. But I didn’t want to take my socks off, and I wish I slippers as the carpet in the room was so old and worn, just yuck. Marriott needs to do better!
