We recently stayed for 2 nights at this hotel since although it was overpriced, its nightly rates were better than its competition's. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, and our room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was standard fare for a Holiday Inn Express, and we appreciated the one type of fresh fruit each morning (oranges the first morning, bananas the second.) And the bed was comfortable. The worst part of the stay, and the one reason why I won't stay here again: the A/C in our room was SO loud . . . There was an A/C unit on the wall that appeared to do nothing, which led us to try the A/C unit directly under the window. It worked fine at cooling the room, but - even with ear plugs - was much too loud for us to fall asleep with. The only solution that worked was turning off the A/C completely, leading to a too-warm room halfway through the night. (Not okay with Florida's high temperatures.) So frustrating!! The location is okay; not near the things and people in Tampa Bay that we visited, and traffic in Pinellas as of late is awful. If this will be the case for you too, add some time to your calculations of when to leave to get somewhere.…
Great hotel - reception staff were really helpful and lovely. It had a nice outdoor pool which felt very peaceful, although I thought it should have been on the other side of the hotel as it didn't really get the sun. Would definitely stay here again.
My family and I recently stayed at this hotel. We were in Florida for a soccer tournament, and this is where the team was assigned to this hotel. We all had a good experience. The employees were friendly and very helpful if we needed things. They had a good breakfast. They were accommadating to us on times to keep breakfast going. The lobby is not too big but was big enough that we could have meals in it and enjoy hanging out in the evenings. Our rooms and the whole hotel were very clean. You saw employees all over the hotel cleaning and taking care of things. The hotel is only about 15 min drive from beaches. It has restaurants around it within driving distance to get food. If we are ever in the area again, I would stay at this hotel.
This was a last minute booking, because of indecision on our part. We booked another hotel, in Sarasota, but the rooms weren't available for 2 days, so we ended up here. We were expecting the typical Holiday Inn Express experience, so we were pleasantly surprised to find this hotel was recently renovated. The free breakfast was a nice bonus: muffins, bagels, fresh fruit and good coffee. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The rooms were nicely furnished and very clean and the breakfast was very good. We checked into this hotel due to a family emergency in the area and needing to be close to the hospital. Due to the situation, we needed to adjust the number of rooms as more people arrived and the staff was very accommodating. We had several families with children and some elderly as well, and the staff was very nice and made things easier. I want to thank all of the staff especially the breakfast lady who was so attentive and engaging with the kids and made up feel at home. Also, the other staff cleans up that area who never made us feel like we have to rush, even though we needed to stay in the seating area longer. Finally, thank you to the manager and the font desk for being helpful so many times. We were grieving and you all made this much easier with your hospitality.…
polite staff. clean room. guest laundry facility.. good breakfast. reasonable price.. convenient location. bed was comfortable.. pool was small but clean. they had a gym.. close to restaurants, groceries, etc.
This isn't The Ritz. It isn't a dive, either. The wow factor stuff: Penny and Nancy are exceptionally friendly and accommodating as breakfast attendants. The front desk staff is also very friendly There aren't a lot of guests so it is quiet. The laundry is easy to use (does not take quarters...use your debit card.) Housekeeping are friendly The needs work stuff: The pool had leaves and twigs in it. Also a tad heavy on the chlorine. The bathroom door in 207 sticks. It requires some strength to open it from inside. The front door doesn't shut all the way unless you pull on it. So overall a nice place
This hotel is in such a great location which is why I primarily picked it, along with Holiday Inn Express's reputation for cleanliness and good breakfasts. The map shows the hotel being by train tracks but we never heard a train. The staff working with guests were very personable and kind. I did Mark this hotel down one star due to cleanliness issues. With Covid, I don't know that any hotels are full service right now which is going to affect your stay no matter where you go which is affecting the following review. Covid mask protocol was enforced with hand sanitizer available. That being said, the hotel was not as clean as other Express Inn's we have stayed at. The main area wasn't very clean, elevators were dirty. (We used the stairs the rest of the time we were there) Even on our first day, I didn't feel our room/bathroom was as clean as it could be-we found hair in the bathroom, bedding was stained in areas but it was late at night and we were too tired to make a big deal about it. They only clean the rooms every three days so garbage and dirty towels pile up quickly, especially if you spend your day at the beach. We were staying six nights. For some reason, our room wasn't cleaned on day three. We talked to the manager who didn't seem to have an answer and said that only three people were there for cleaning the rooms but they had all gone for the day. So they either don't bring in enough people, or they can't get enough people to come in and do the job. Thankfully, a lady, whose job was to do laundry, offered to clean the room for us. So they do have people there that will go above and beyond their own assignments. The manager really didn't seem to know what to do as housecleaning wouldn't be back there for 3 more days until this lady offered to take care of it. So I would say Covid has made it less than pleasant to be in a hotel. The breakfasts were difficult to obtain as you had to wait in line for a long time to have what breakfast you would like to be handed to you. Again, not typical of this hotel but that's the way it is right now. …
Front Desk attendant said she called a plumber to fix it but it was not fixed. Front Desk not knowledgeable about area restaurants. TV guide not in room. Breakfast server, "Penny" is great! Efficient and fast!
This has to be one of the worst hotel stays that I have ever had. All was fine on our arrival with check in. Then when we got to our room there weren’t enough towels and the ones that were there, one had a huge hole in it. On one of the beds there were 2 pillows, unlike every other HIE we have stayed at that has 4. I went to put our extra cash in the safe and that didn’t work. We were leaving to go see the Yankees and as we were trying to get on the elevator the cleaning lady, just a ray of sunshine, pushed her cart in front of us as we approached and blocked us from getting on the elevator and we had to take the next one. Rooms are not cleaned daily, only Sundays and Wednesdays. Just ew. Ok, minor inconveniences that aren’t huge. Then we tried to sleep. Whoever’s idea it was to put laminate floors in a hotel room should be fired. Carpet absorbs sound, you moron. Every time anyone did anything above us, we could hear it...and I mean anything. (Including riding the rolling chair back and forth.) We decided that wasn’t awful because it worked out with the beach and the ball games and then last night came. Someone at the front desk decided to put kids in every room around us. When one wasn’t crying another one was. Today it all started at 4:17 am and continued until they left at about 9:45. We asked to be moved and because of spring break there wasn’t anything available. Management did nothing to rectify the situation. Rhonda was unhelpful and hung up on my husband while he was on with the gold club representative. We called the gold club hotline and some amazing representatives from HIE made it all right. We are moved to another newer and nicer hotel a bit further from the beach, but worth it if I can sleep. Because of the distance and renting beach stuff hubby and son headed off with that stuff, while my daughter and I waited. Husband asked for a late check out, noon, and the ever effervescent front desk lady (sarcasm) said it was fine. Then at 11:30 they call us telling us to leave by noon. (The cleaning lady couldn’t get in at 11 and went and told on us, lol.) When they called our room, Rhonda lied about what my husband told her (like I can’t check that information?!) and was curt on the phone. By this time I was done, and talked to her like one of my 3rd graders. She said that us staying was “fine.” We couldn’t get out of there fast enough. We appreciate all that Holiday Inn Corporate did to get us placed elsewhere. We are thrilled to leave here.…
