We actually visited in January of 2020. So my wife and I had stayed there for one night. We were headed to Orlando for the day which is obviously a pretty substantial drive. Decided to have everything packed up because we had an early flight out of Tampa the next morning. Drove all the way back from Orlando and arrived at about 12:30 at night. Walked up to the room and the key didn't work. At this point I called the hotel and told them that we weren't able to get into our room. They stated that because our bags weren't in our room but they had determined that we had left even though we had paid for the evening. I said wait a minute it really doesn't matter whether my bags are in the room or not I have paid for the evening and at the bare minimum someone should have called me to confirm whether we were checking out or not. We hadn't turned in our room keys. At this point the manager lied to me and said that they had tried to contact us. I said dude I had my phone on me all day. No one from barefoot attempted to contact me. So he backed off that scenario and then told me that it was just weird that we had packed everything up. My response was that it could be as weird as it wanted to be but at the end of the day I had already paid for the room and again at the very minimum someone should have contacted me to confirm whether we were checking out. He continued to become more and more aggressive in his defense of how they had handled the situation. I told him listen I'm not trying to argue with you I really don't care what your perspective is it's 12:30 at night my wife and I are extremely exhausted we have to catch an early flight tomorrow. Getet us a room. By this point I wasn't being polite but being antagonized by a manager who was more concerned about expressing my fault in the situation then getting us taken care of on a room that we had paid for. He told me "fine I'll refund you your money and you can go find somewhere else to stay.". Mind you it's at this point 12:45 in the morning in Madeira beach. There wasn't a hotel anywhere close to us that had staff nor were there any available rooms. So I had to drive all the way back to Tampa completely exhausted and pay for a room. As you might imagine I was very frustrated by the time we finally laid down at the new hotel. So I wrote a scathing review. When I called the hotel to make sure that our refund was going through they refused to finalize the refund unless I removed my negative review which told the complete truth about what our experience had been. As the room was booked on a corporate credit card I didn't feel like I had the ability to stand on principal since it wasn't my money. So I removed the negative review. To summarize the rooms were nice. The location was fantastic and management was completely and utterly unprofessional to the point of holding the money that they owed me for a room that I had already paid for unless I removed a negative review.

This guest dropped his keys in the key box when they left. We took that to mean as all hotels would as he checked out. The room was cleaned and rented to another guest. This guest arrived back at the hotel at midnight and attempted to gain access to the room with the 2nd key they took with them. At this point the previous key was inactive since a new guest occupied that room. This Guest called our after hours number and demanded to get into his room. He was informed that unit was occupied. He argued that he rented the room for the night but was explained that the room was now occupied by a new guest. The guest said he dropped his second key so he wouldn't lose it. He was offered a refund for the night not stayed. But guest left negative review. We asked him to remove the review as we felt we were not at fault for this confusion. In over 20 years of operating hotels, if a guest turns in their key it means they have departed the hotel and checked out. I am very sorry for this misunderstanding but for any future travelers, please don't turn your key unless you are checking out or let a staff member know of your special intentions. 10 months have passed since this guest stayed. I am sorry this situation is still bothering you. Please stay safe and best of luck in future travels.

What a wonderful little resort! We had a two bedroom corner unit which was beautifully decorated. The full kitchen was very convenient and helpful for families. I loved the large balcony, I only wish I had a lounge chair out there for napping ;) The staff were all super friendly and helpful. It was the perfect place for a laid back, relaxed vacation. We will definitely be back!

This is such a charming Resort, directly on the beach! Thanks to Phylis for tending to all our needs! Our 4th Floor Unit overlooked the Gulf with it's majestic views, especially those magnificent Sunsets!! We also had easy access to the lovely Pool area. Our 1 BR Unit included a (pullout) Sofa in the lounge area, leading onto our Balcony. Our 'mini kitchenette' was adequate for our needs, which included a Coffee Maker, Microwave & Toaster. Housekeeping consisted of a wicker basket w/list of requested items (towels, toiletries, supplies) and was always outside the room upon our return from the Beach/Pool. Madeira Beach is a lovely, clean stretch of the calm Gulf Coast, which made for lovely walks. We were 2 blocks from JOHN'S PASS which has everything you need (Restaurants, Shops, Sports, Entertainment). LISA'S had the best Breakfasts; thanks to Lisa, Brittney, Crysalin & Dylan!! We rented bikes @ NK & Bikes for touring Treasure Island; thanks for the tips, Noor & Kate! This was such a relaxing and enjoyable mini vaca and we can't wait to do it again!!

We came here on a family vacation. When booking I paid for an ocean view vs partial ocean view. I will say don’t wast your money on the oven view for the two bedroom. Our room should have an “oven view” but is blocked by the building in front of us. I paid an up charge to not have a partial view. I’m disappointed in this factor. Although, staff have been nice and welcoming. Everything is clean and really nice.

This hotel is great! Do not listen to these people who say the staff is rude..they must have had done something because everyone from the from desk to the maintenance crew were nice! We got a new couch the day after we arrived and it was great! We never needed anything. We had the beach side room and it was fantastic! The only two suggestions Id make would be to remove the wall by the bed it gets a little hot and take away the little kitty pool no one was using and make the pool bigger. Rooms were clean, dishes were clean, fridge, bathroom, microwave, and coffee maker were all clean! Tv rotates towards the bed which was a plus. We stayed 3 days. Loved we had private access to the beach. Parking is tight not for full size pickup trucks unless you know how to drive lol. There are two buildings and the first one has a rooftop with amazing views, one of the beach side and the other of the bay.. just a little hidden gem! Overall we would defiantly stay here again 100%. Trust me dont listen to these reviews that are negative because its bs
