For the price, Very nice and clean place to stay. Great pool area with lots of seating and right on the beach. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location. We would definitely stay here again.
I was very upset to learn that Surfs Inn was gone. We came to Maderia Beach every year and I looked forward to staying there. No it wasnt the best but we loved it. We love the small hotels. Good thing we have lots of pics. I guess now we will have to look for another small motel on the beach. Any thought please let me know.
Sad to see Surfs Inn go. Yes it was run down and far from perfect but I loved being there in an old time Florida hotel right on the beach. Quiet and relaxing. Many a years there ........Keith from Canada
No time wasted in tearing it down. Condo units are already being sold before it's finished. Sorry to see it go, even if it was old and needed updating. Finding nice places in Treasure Island. Still some reasonable motel prices in Mad Beach.
we stayed there many times for the location went by there friday it has been torn down to make way for condos ! few reasonable priced places are left on the beach We never went to the beach to stay in the room just to enjoy the ocean You cuold not get a better location Old but still worked
We stayed at the Surfs Inn three times in the past ten years. The last time was just this past May. Sad to say that the place has gone downhill. Most everything is in need of repair and falling apart. It will be tore down and replaced as as the million dollar condos are all sold. It's just a matter of time. While everything needed some attention, it was as if they were just fixing or patching what they could when called attention to it. The hotel is located in a perfect spot which makes it even more sad that it will be tore down. Close to John's Pass and lots of restaurants. It's directly on the beach without having to walk too far to get to the surf. We are sad that it will be tore down and condos will replace it. The small "mom and pop" hotels are far and few between and it was once a charming hotel.…
glad they are tearing this place down! overpriced for labor day weekend. gave us crappy room 112, on the end with the view being the stairway wall. Asked to be moved upstairs and they did. Bigger room, with a good view. Clean pool, no breakfast, just coffee. 248 for two nights in the dumpiest, well almost, dumpiest place i have ever stayed. Guy at the front desk was nice. Very small, one-way parking lot. hot shower, cold a/c.
I gave the place 1 star because it was so easy to cancel and leave once we saw our room and knew we had made a BIG mistake with this reservation choice. We went with our 2 kids, ages 6 & 8 for a weekend. The first HUGE turn off was that we had to walk through 4 other guests smoking/socializing right outside our room door into a smokey room that was extremely worn and dated. We did not feel safe or comfortable and for over $100 a night expected a much better arrangement. Fortunately, the front desk refunded our money immediately and tried to assist us in finding another location. We did at the wonderful Plaza Resort about 15 minutes away and well worth the extra $34 per night.
we enjoyed our time there, we stayed 8 days in rm 107, my daughter and granddaughter stayed 5 days in rm 112 , the kids had a great time in the pool and on the beach (the beach is steps away from your room, the staff was great , the cleaning woman were awesome did a good job, and i even had the pleasure of meeting the manger all were very nice, never ran out of towels having kids that was important. if your looking for fancy mint under your pillow well your in the wrong place and i am glad you can pay that price. were a family who can only do something 1 time a yr and if it wasn't for surfs inn , we would be sitting on our front porch, this place is affordable for family's like us. we had a small problem with our burner and it was replaced in mins.. IF THEY DO CLOSE IT DOWN FAMILIES LIKE US WONT HAVE A PLACE TO STAY ,we cant afford no where else like this , thank u surfs inn .…
I almost cancelled our reservation based on some of reviews. I am so glad I know better and didn't. Room 119 is clean and comfortable. Yes there are a few nicks in the furniture and things are a little dated but the location is the best I have ever stayed at. The staff is heplfull and polite. Each morning they are down cleaning the pool area and grounds. Maid service has been daily. Thanks to those who couldn't overlook small imperfectons and stayed elsewhere. It left more space tor us and the other great people we have met to enjoy the beach.
