Wonderful staff at a hotel which nearly died. Shearings have taken over this charming hotel and are gradually restoring it to its former glory. The Spa needs a bit of TLC, but a "budget" hotel with a sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and pool is a real bonus. Food was the usual Shearings menu and the staff were lovely, entertainment was...

Thank you for your kind words and your right on the mark about us restoring the hotel to its former glory. Our aim has been to really put the hotel on the map over the last few years and it seems that our efforts are finally coming to fruition with a tirade of happy guests and a trip advisor certificate...

We arrived a little early around 2:30pm, as usual after a lengthy trip, hoped given we were only 30 mins early, that we might be able to check in and use the loo! No such luck. We were told very abruptly by a front of house staff member that check in was no earlier than 3pm and we would have...

Thank you for your review which stands out as rather an anomaly in a sea of otherwise fair reviews. Thank you though for your kind comments with regards to your breakfast experience. The staff in our restaurant are well deserving of praise. Check in is generally at 3 o clock as we usually have a full check out on the...

Booked for a 7 night stay, primarily as a base camp to visit this area of the country. The hotel offered the most affordable option by far and seemed good value. With this in mind I wasn't expecting much, at the end if the day you do usually get what you pay for. The hotel is very olde worlde in...

We stopped in on the hop and was bitterly disappointed. Service was poor, food terrible and over priced for the quality of what we thought we'd be served at this Spa/Hotel/Restaurant - some outlets can do it all. Eden Arms for us, struggles with the basic.

Are we a hotel, spa, restaurant or a pub? I read your review with some concern as there was no mention of the unsurpassed quality of our newly refurbished rooms, no reasons why you didn't enjoy the charm and magic of our 16th century coaching Inn, and no elaboration on any reasons why you may not have enjoyed the luxury...

Eden Arms Hotel is another one of our great character hotels. The building dates back to the 17th-century when it was a coaching inn. Many of our guests use the hotel as a base to explore the city of Durham and the picturesque countryside around. The location, just eight miles from the historic city centre, is the ideal place to relax and unwind for both leisure and business travellers alike. For those who are keen to explore further afield, the city of Newcastle with its regenerated riverfront and great shopping and hospitality is within easy driving distance. The Eden Arms offers comfortable accommodation and also boasts a leisure club featuring a gym, swimming pool, sauna, steam room and spa.
