Last I visited was in March - on 5th floor. BEAUTIFUL VIEW. Nice and quite, as we had hoped it would be; for a short getaway!!!! We live in Panama City so when we want to "get away" we head EAST! Rooms have been maintained very well; considering the age of this ONLY BEACH FRONT hotel! Very clean; comfortable beds...

El Governor is an adequately maintained older building with friendly staff. Room rates are high because there is only one beachfront hotel for at least 25 miles in either direction. Nice beaches in still rural panhandle have no lifeguards. Some rooms have full size refrigerator, microwave and electric stove. Staff is pleasant and efficient. Parking is tight on busy weekends....

After looking over some of the reviews we were on the fence....We loved it....Our room was in the taller part of the hotel. It was perfect and clean with a wonderful view. The pool was warm and wonderful with lots of places to enjoy the atmosphere. The bar had plenty of space with a ton of seating either in the...

The El Governor is our second home. We have been visiting here yearly for the last 13 years. We are always welcomed with open arms and always have exactly what we need. The annex room are spacious and have a kitchen. Which makes life easier when feeding 3 growing boys. There are numerous places to buy groceries nearby. The entire...

This is a review by a 13 year old- My family and I enjoyed this hotel. They had nice rooms with a beautiful ocean view and balcony. Although, there was a lot of sand on the floor, there was a razor cover in the bath tub that wasn't ours, and there was hair and dust under the toilet. Other than...

I highly recommend this place! Before we visited Mexico beach an the el governor I read really bad reviews so I was expecting it to be not so great. Upon arrival it was beautiful. Let me start off by saying this place isn't outdated as others make it out to me the staff is very very friendly it has a...

My favorite beach getaway is the Mexico Beach area. My favorite hotel is the El Govenor. We stayed a few days after school was out and had a wonderful time. We stayed in the annex. Had two queens a desk and small table with two chair. Had a small kitchenette but was able to prepare meals for us. Not many...

First, before I say anything else, their bar made me the best top shelf margarita I've ever had in my life. Okay, remember that El Governor is a motel in the 1940's 1950's sense of the term. It's old. It's clean, but old, and could stand some touches that would make it a really nice place. Every room has a...

Nice little weekend trip with the family. Had everything needed for a toddler and six year old in room. We prepped and ate some meals in room using goodies from Port St. Joe market which we highly recommend. Beach was clean and uncrowned. The staff was very friendly and allowed us to check in early. Will return.

The location is fabulous! That's the best thing about this hotel. The rooms and property are in dire need of remodeling and for $180 a night for the beach front rooms there was a lot left to be desired. Save the few extra dollars if staying here and stay in one of the second floor rooms, they are literally the...
