I posted a review back in August, titled hit and miss. After posting I was contacted by Georgious Atzemouglou and he was adamant that I allowed the hotel the opportunity to make it right. When I returned to the hotel he met me personally and apologized for the unfortunate experience. He took great care of me and my entire entourage who also had rooms at the hotel. It felt really great to know that customer service wasn't dead, and that someone actually cared about retaining my business. I have added this hotel back into my Miami rotation, and will contacting Georgious (as he instructed) whenever I am staying with the hotel. Thank you for a wonderful stay and for showing me that a customer is not just a number.

I would give this stay a 5 star review! Special thanks to LI, the front desk staff, for his help. First, there was no extra Bay View room type available when I booked, but he took the initiative and eventually helped me upgrade to this room. Fabulous view and more space! Second, he took the initiative to ask about our stay, nothing was perfect, but he made it all perfect in the end! Lastly, absolute recognition for the housekeeping staff at this hotel, they are very professional in organizing your stuff and putting it out in a lovely way!

The hotel and the location are just perfect but the people working in this hotel… worst I have ever seen. I had to wait 50 minutes to get my car at the valet without any explanation. When I asked to the front desk I just had… no reaction from the girl, just looking at me saying nothing and I assume thinking “Talk my friend I just don’t care what you’re talking about”. When you pay $ 400 a night, it’s just a shame. I will never go back, please don’t waste your money and go somewhere else. One suggestion for the management: switch the useless people at the front desk by plants: it will be cheaper and the results to solve your clients’s problem the same, and it will be make the lobby more beautiful.

We are very sorry to hear that retrieving your vehicle took such a long time. We truly understand your frustration, and if you would like to provide us with your name (as this is an anonymous review) we will be more than happy to make it right. Kindly allow us to emphatically disagree, however, with your assumptions pertaining to the dedicated and caring nature of our team. We cultivate a culture of care, prominent all throughout team's training and daily employment. We would appreciate being given a future opportunity with a return visit, where we can oversee your stay and ensure you experience our hospitality and care.

So I frequent Miami rather often—a mixture of work and pleasure. Depending on my needs and itinerary during a particular visit, I choose to stay in Brickell or South Beach. The last few times when I’ve needed to stay in Brickell, my hotel selection had been EAST Miami. However, after this 4th stay with them in October might’ve been my last. #1: While still nice enough, I’ve noticed is that the rooms have become a little rundown. I get that wear and tear is unavoidable as the property ages and more guests visit, but that doesn’t mean that plumbing or flooring should go neglected. #2: The housekeeping is just not as attentive as during my earlier stays. Going into day #3 of our stay and housekeeping stilll hadn’t come to service our room. At the end of day #2 we had to call the front desk and ask for another roll of toilet tissue (which should’ve tipped them off there). #3: While I wouldn’t say all of the front desk are cold and non-personable, a handful of them certainly are. I’m just not used to that in such a touristy town like Miami. Staff needs to be trained/retrained. The most pleasant front desk associate was a gentleman from NY who’d checked us in. Such a nice guy! #4: The pool area was once enough for me, but unfortunately not anymore. It’s just too small and not enough space to really have a private enough experience away from families with small kids or folks trying to get “the perfect IG shot”. The love affair was real while it lasted, EAST, but I think it’s time that we part ways. I will however come back for Sugar (drinks and small bites are always solid)! =)

Dear Rachel. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay. Even though we are not able to cross reference your name with a registered guest, allow us to review on the points raised. #1: As every property, despite being only 6 year old building, we have many ongoing programs for maintenance, plumbing, flooring, painting, enhancements, that are taking place throughout the hotel in units that are in rotation out of service, so we can constantly maintain our edge and our guest's experience. #2: Unlike other brands (including some international heavyweights) who have done away with daily service since the pandemic, we still provide daily service for all our guests, between the hours of 9:30am and 5pm. A guest can always request a preferred cleaning time and we will accommodate in sequence accordingly. #3: We (just as the entire hospitality industry) are indeed in a post-pandemic hiring spree to accommodate the peak travel and leisure sector that has skyrocketed more than the return of hospitality professionals. As such, we have many ongoing training programs throughout our departments, and we certainly take your comments in serious consideration and as training tool to keep enhancing our team's fit within our culture of care and effortless stay for our guests. #4: As a city hotel we have a very sizeable pool deck with 4 seperate pool/plunge areas, but we do understand that you would like to change up your experience to more of a beach property with a resort feel. Thank you very much for having been our guest, and we are looking forward to entertaining you at Sugar/TeaRoom in the future.

The hotel itself looks modern and chic, but once you look past the glamour and you check into the rooms you see that the rooms themselves are just a facade. I had my wedding party stay at this hotel and between my room and the others, all we had was complaints. Complaints were addressed with the staff over the phone and according to them, housekeeping was the issue. We should've taken that as the first red flag. I had a nice view overlooking the bay, which was about the nicest thing that this hotel had to offer. Months prior, my now wife, had reached out to the reservations department and spoke with Alexandra and we were able to get the necessary rooms for our wedding party along with a discounted rate. The email that we received had the final amount disclosed for the stay. NOWHERE ON THAT EMAIL DID IT SAY THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE THE CARD AN EXTRA $150 PER DAY AS A RETAINER. Checking into the rooms was another nightmare, the wedding party had to get approval from the bride in order to access the rooms. Mind you my wife had given specific instructions to the reservations staff, prior to check-in, on which party members were to go to what rooms which gave them automatic approval. Just to reiterate, everything had been previously coordinated with the Events Manager Melissa and the Reservations specialist Alexandra. The hotel was overbooked and check-in was about 30-45 minutes later than promised for any of the rooms. The first night that I was there I was taking a shower and a live roach was next to my foot. I don't know if the roach came out of the shower or the towels that were under the sink, but it was absolutely disgusting and I'm adding pictures below for proof. Let me not forget the towels, I could have used them as sandpaper. The towels were rough and falling apart at the seams. They looked used and worn out. I would've accepted these towels from Motel 8 but not from this hotel. My mother-in-law had a terrible experience on the ninth floor. On her first day, the room had not been thoroughly cleaned. There was hair from the previous guest all over the bathroom and shower. Also, she called several times to fix an issue with the fridge and no one came to the room. It wasn't until the cleaning staff came that they reached out to the maintenance department to come and fix the issue. Multiple guests apart from our wedding party had similar complaints about the staff. Multiple times the receptionist was called to get more toilet paper and either the staff ignored the calls or blamed housekeeping for a lack of communication and coordination. This hotel staff seriously suffers from "not my job" syndrome. Apparently, it's no one's job to make sure guests have a good experience throughout their stay. Overall my complaints reached the desk of the director Wayne, who claimed he was going to make a note in the system for a form of compensation for all the issues we had, but when I checked out nothing was done. This to me was like a slap in the face. Now I'm being charged more for my stay and have no receipt to see the charges. The front desk assured me that they were going to compensate us for all three of our rooms and send us the receipts. It's been almost a week since we checked out and we haven't heard from anyone. Neither Wayne, Alexandra, nor Melissa has reached out to us. I'm disgusted by their attitude and customer service skills. My best advice to anyone wanting to stay in this hotel is don't unless you want to put up with disappointment from the staff.

Dear Ariel. Thank you for taking our call and accepting our sincere apologies for what transpired. We reviewed all your concerns together which we later reviewed with all relevant departments utilizing them as a training tool pinpointing areas for improvement, allowed us to provide a generous recovery and a future invite, where we will hopefully be honored with a possibility of a future return where we would be able to pamper you and restore your faith in our property and brand.

Be careful when checking in and what they charge you. Security has an attitude and so does the manager. They never refunded my money back despite them advising they would 3 times due to them messing up and charging me an extra night. The only good thing was the location and room.

The room is big but very dark so you can’t see anything, the hotel is so crowded with outside people going to the hotel bar and the pool is the worst, they let everybody smoke inside the pool and play whatever music they like. The hotel says the pool is public area so they can’t control smoking and music. I would never go back to this hotel again.

We appreciate your feedback on your recent visit and understand that the hotel design and ambiance, which lighting is an integral part of, was not to your personal liking. Our restaurant and lounges are among the top culinary and mixology destinations in the city, and as such do have a very large following with many patrons visiting them nightly. As we already responded to you in the other media which you have also posted this review, we enhance the pool experience by playing a special curated music selection and do not allow guests to play their own music on any personal stereo systems. Our non smoking policy is very strict and upon identifying a guest not upholding these guidelines we have a zero tolerance policy and take immediate measures. There are always guests in every property who refuse to comply with the rules and regulations, but our policy calls for immediate action in such instances.

1st time at hotel. Paid upgrade at check-in to 1BR suite. Room was nice but main view was a construction site. Front desk said only alternative was to downgrade, so decided I could live with the view. Woke up at 4am to a loud tone coming from either the construction site or the rooftop bar. Went on for over an hour. Called front desk to see what it was and if there was a quieter room. MOD (same front desk attendant from earlier) could hear it, but had nothing available for either tonight or the following 2 nights. BTW, their 1st response was that the hotel wasn't liable (not unreasonable, but just felt like an odd start), followed by: they couldn't say whether the noise was normal, no other rooms facing any other direction were available because nothing was inspected (incl. downgrades), and their shift ended soon. The best they could was leave a note on the reservation for someone else to take a look at later in the day. It was a pretty uncomfortable call, so I didn't press them on why they couldn't inspect a room, and instead asked them to have the morning team call me.

Truly appreciate your constructive feedback on your recent stay. Due to the username not reflecting your name we cannot locate your actual reservation and identify the specific circumstances of the reservation so we can understand what you mean by stating "the alternative was to downgrade". We are happy that you chose to enhance your stay in one of our premier 1 Bedroom Residences and Suites. Being in the epicenter of the action, in the midst of Brickell, where the newest, tallest and most luxurious buildings are going up and adding their allure, amenities and activities for residents and visitors alike (much like the East building and Brickell City Centre complex was a few years ago, which we all currently enjoy) is setting the Brickell area into a renaissance with such a slew of developments. All contractors have agreed with the city to not begin any noise related activity until 7am, and we are certainly investigating further on the matter via all authorized channels, to reach to the bottom of the matter and take any and all action avenues to our disposal in order to ensure compliance. Of course this is of little consolation to you that you had to endure such issue in a time where you would need a restful sleep. Our sincere apologies that you had to be inconvenienced in such a way at an inopportune time. We also understand that due to our constant sellout, other units were not available, which we can only imagine made a situation that much worse. We truly empathize with what transpired and would love the opportunity to review and assist on a personal level. Kindly reach out to our Guest Experience Management team via emailing guestexperience@east-miami.com, so we can review together and make this right.
