My friend and I got tired of paying inflated prices for Airbnbs where we couldn't make friends with anyone, and decided to fall back to the tried and true strategy of staying in a hostel. We took a chance on Posh, even though it was slightly more expensive than others. The first impression was good; unlike other hostels I've stayed at both in Miami Beach and elsewhere, Posh has professional, paid staff instead of random "volunteers" who only get compensated with room and board. It appears that Posh is affiliated with nearby hotels like Whitelaw and shares staff with them. Special shoutout to Angel who checked us in and took care of us during our 3 week stay. We came in late at night and usually, overnight staff are tired and grumpy, but Angel was upbeat and friendly and put us in a good spot when we said we wanted to avoid foot traffic and noise. I liked that you get a free towel upon check-in and can trade it in every day to get a fresh one. Also, they have on-site laundry (bring your own quarters and detergent). My favorite part of Posh is how good it is for meeting new people, which is the most important part of any hostel. They have a big kitchen / living room with a large TV, sofa, and lots of stools. There's also a pool (unheated, unfortunately) open until around 7 PM with a sundeck and lots of lounge chairs, and a downstairs patio area as well. While there's no free breakfast/dinner, they do have a free daily happy hour at a nearby affiliated hotel; as much gin/vodka + juice as you can drink (make sure to leave a tip though!) Like any hostel, things can get rowdy especially around holidays, but Posh has on-site security to keep things safe and to remove the occasional guest who creates a bad experience for everyone else. Another shoutout for Angel's professionalism in this regard; while working on my laptop upstairs, I see him graciously open doors for guests who've forgotten their keys, walk up and down the halls to make sure everything's in order, and I've even seen him pitch in to do some cleanup (probably not his job) to make the place look presentable. He is definitely treating his job at a hostel as if he is a manager at the Four Seasons, and whatever you folks are paying him, it isn't enough. A little constructive feedback for Posh is to repair the fridge/freezer and the laundry coin machine. Also, improve the plumbing of the toilets (they clog easily), and get a bigger water heater. Overall, had a great experience and I'll be back!…
