We stayed in a studio unit that looked like it had not been refurbished in decades. The furniture was beat up and the carpet frayed and appeared dirty. Our room was a long distance from the lobby so it was at least a 5 minute walk with kids. Even the bellman joked about the never-ending hallway. I was also disappointed that in the little kitchenette only had a couple of small plastic cups and 3 plastic bowls. Not your typical Disney Vacation Club unit. This is definitely not a “Deluxe Resort,” that I am used to staying at in Disney. The upside of the room were the amazing animals we could watch from our balcony. The pool was very nice and my grandkids really enjoyed it.

I have been a Disney vacation club member for over 15 years. I love Disney and their resorts but when at 1:30 at checking in you are told your room will is being worked on! Well it’s 3:30 how long is “ being worked”? Don’t lie to me so I walk away happy only to return to you pissed. Never in all these years have you ever been delayed this long! Also I was never lied to about room availability! And to boot where was our welcome home greeting?? This place has gone down hill so bad.

Our first visit here as a new DVC home resort and we loved it. First off if your debating between this lodge and Jambo, this one is definitely more quaint and quieter and the larger of the two resorts. It’s a 7 minute walk to all amenities of Jambo and is a smaller lobby, larger water slide on the pool and a trek if your room is far from the lobby. Jambo was very busy and reminded me of Polynesian crowds, plus is mute restaurants and other amenities. However our stay here in a 1 bedroom villa Savannah view was nothing short of spectacular and my worry about buses being infrequent and this place being farther away was quickly dispelled due to this place being closer to Epcot and Hollywood studios and just an all around nice resort. Rooms are decorated in animal themes and the villas here are huge rooms, more room than the Beach club or boardwalk and all around huge bathrooms etc. this is definitely a place to stay and off the beaten path of Disney busy. Plus they brought all the African exchange members back and they fill the resort teaching classes on animals etc to the kids. This also is the only resort I’ve seen with authentic art, all over the resort. A must stay if your thinking of a resort.

It is bad when a $100 a night hotel advertises a full size bed as a queen, but when you have paid thousands for a time share membership and this happens it is inexcusable. They also charge the same number of points for a two bedroom lock off verses a two bedroom non lock off. The difference? There is only one bed in the second bedroom. They put a sleeper sofa next to the bed and and called it a day. You can literally feel the metal in the sleeper sofa and sleeper chair. When pointed out that this was deceptive, they just said well we hope everyone is able to get a good nights sleep.

Staying onsite is such a convenient, wonderful upgrade to a Disney trip. We would highly recommend doing so if money is no object. For the price, though, you are truly paying for convenience over anything else. We found the rooms to be dark and a bit beat up in the Kidani 2 bedroom villa that cost around $1500 per night, with quality and comfort was equivalent to a 3 star hotel. We appreciated the easy-to-access buses and delicious restaurants onsite, but everything else was underwhelming. Jambo House has a more spectacular foyer than Kidani Village and is more bustling in general, but the actual aesthetic of the whole exterior of the resort is stunning. Animals abound and lovely landscaping. Overall, I don’t feel the price matched the quality during our stay.

We stayed for the first time at Kidani Village and was magical. We saw the African animals fro the time we arrived to the time we left. The animals are beautiful and loved watching them play. We had a Two bedroom suite that was beautiful and the beds are the best in all the resorts. Food at all the dining areas are great and staff the best. Only draw back is the long walks from your room to the lobby. We will be back for sure.

The room was amazing. Great for a family of 5. Savannah view was great. Saw animals at all times of the day. Amazing experience. Food was fantastic. Always something to do at the resorts. Would love to return.

Second time we’ve stayed here. Room didn’t look any different than the first time 13 years ago. Some of the fixtures in the bathroom are a little dated and worn out, these would be the only thing I might change. Beds were comfortable, and you can’t beat the view of all the animals around the place.

This is not a luxury hotel! This hotel used to be amazing but the suites are showing their age with chipped paint, holes in the walls and room cleaning is once every 3 days. Service is not existent by the pool, you have to go the little tent Maja where the servers are miserably bad. They gladly spend 15 minutes chatting up customers rather than taking orders, food items are pre made and not comparable to nearby properties owned by Hilton, Waldorf , 4 seasons, Marriot etc. the offerings are more like a travel lodge or holiday inn. The sit dow. Restaurants offer very good food, but outside of this I would never stay here again. The prices Disney charges for these hotels between 700-1000 a night for 1 bedroom suites or more during peak seasons, and what they deliver in return is laughable for anyone who has ever traveled to a true 5 star resort anywhere else in the world. Do yourself a favor, book a room at the Waldorf or Jw Marriot, you will enjoy better service, more hospitality, nicer rooms, all for typically less money and you can simply Uber it take their own shuttle to the parks when you are out here with the kids.

3 stars if you can ignore the not so great. Not so great... We stayed for 3 weeks in a deluxe studio. The studio has 1 queen size bed and a sofa bed. It is advertised for 4 adults but really only suitable for 2. The sofa bed is just horrible, painful to sleep on. The mattress is not thick enough so you can feel the metal bars underneath. So I ended up putting the sofa bed back to it's sofa position and slept on a sofa for 3 weeks. My back is now paying for it and I've been home 2 weeks now. I did complain twice at reception. They gave me a mattress topper which was hopeless and then a air bed but that went down in the night and often found myself about to face plant the floor so I gave up and slept on the sofa. The room was lovely and clean to start but I went and bought my own cleaning products to keep the room clean as housekeeping only cleaned every 8 days. Which was a bed change and wipe around the bathroom and kitchen area. The only time the room was vacuumed was when I went and asked at reception for a vacuum and did it myself. Other than that I bought a small brush and pan and brushed up the bits on the carpet. Housekeeping did come everyday and removed the trash but unfortunately they knocked between 830 and 9am every morning. So this became my alarm clock. No chance of a lie in if you have been in the parks late at night. Also learn what time housekeeping are coming to avoid taking a shower as they will be in the room with you before you know it. Restaurant, food was ok but very salty. I tried the nan breads that everyone raves about but mine were burnt and the dips that come with it too salty. Only option for vegetation is a vegetable curry (not much taste and salty) and a kids cheese pizza which was ok. I would recommend to eat before you get back to the hotel or go to Walmart for microwave meals. What was great... Savannah view, waking up ever morning and shouting giraffe was a treat. The balcony view was fantastic. The hotel was clean and the atmosphere around the place is brilliant..all staff were friendly. Shop was well stocked and I would recommend to buy a mug from the shop so you can get unlimited drinks for your stay. Buses to the parks were fantastic there was about 2 every hour for each park. Disability access is really good on the buses. They have 2 spaces for scooters and the bus drivers help the scooters on and off the buses. They were great. Laundry room is free to use you just need to take your detergent. You can buy some powder detergent from a vending machine in the laundry room for $1 which was really great and handy to have. In all I did enjoy staying at the hotel but wouldn't go back to a studio as the sofa bed ruined my stay
