1- I was double charged for my room. I have called & emailed but still not resolved. Now they are ignoring me. Waited 3 weeks yet still owed over$500! 2- Construction: it's noisy and ONLY 1 elevator for guests at a high rise hotel! Long lines and packed like sardines to get up to your room! 3- Safety: first night=Altercation in the lobby resulted in ambulance being called and we had to wait outside to be escorted to our room via a service elevator. Second night= woken by gun shots right across the street. THIS IS NOT A LUXURY EXPERIENCE!!!!
Our company held a meeting here over three days. Hotel was under renovation and very hard to navigate. Worst of all, when I checked out I accidentally left some clothing items in the closet. When I realized this the next day, I called the hotel to see if I could retrieve them. At first they tried to be helpful, but then did not return calls, so I had to keep calling back. I talked to three different people but to no good end. One person even told me they found my items and would send them to me; she even confirmed my address, so my hopes were running high that I would get them back. Fast forward two weeks: nothing received, no phone calls returned. What a disgrace. I feel like I was lied to so I would just go away. A proper hotel always has a way to reconnect left items with their owner/guest. This one does not, and then makes it worse by lying. I am a loyal Marriott patron, but this one is off the list.…
We stayed here recently to attend a concert at the Amway Center and with the exception of the nice gentleman who met us at the valet and handled our bags, the rest of the experience was terrible. This hotel is undergoing a massive renovation at the moment. After traipsing through the lounge and restaurant, you are led down narrow passages to an elevator and then led to a converted meeting room for check in. Check in staff was not particularly friendly and looked about as unhappy as the guests who just dragged their luggage up. The room was fine, but was a bit dated. All electric outlets, etc. are not convenient to access. The biggest issue was that only one elevator was working during our stay. Upon returning from the concert, we literally waited in line close to 30 minutes to get up to our room. As I anticipated this disaster re-occurring in the morning, we had to leave an hour earlier than planned to get to the airport and as expected it took close to 35 minutes to get an elevator down and get our car. I heard a lot of other guests complaining that the extent of the renovation was underplayed when they booked. As others mentioned, expect to wake up to full on construction activities including jack hammers and back up sirens, etc. Hopefully this upgrade will be worth it, but with the amount of work going on, I think they would have been better off just shutting down the hotel during construction.…
We planned a 4 day weekend in Orlando with another couple and booked here because it looked stylish, is a Marriott, and location was great. It is a Marriott and the location was great and that's about it for the positives. The Aloft 2 blocks away and same $. I am a lifetime Titanium Elite Marriott traveler. Cons: No lobby and the construction starts before 8 every day and goes until early evening often on full display - power saws, hammers, dust. The room: Body hair, presumably from the prior guests, was noticeable on the bathroom floor. Gross. Our room door lock was broken and took some McGyver like tricks to get it to close because the deadbolt would not allow the door to close. The front desk sent the "Engineer" up who confirmed it was broken and needed to be replaced. He said he'd be right back and we never saw him again. The handset on our room phone did not work, the front desk said they would send someone right up. They never did. Dogs barking. I did not know the hotel allow pets they obviously do because we woke up to the very loud sounds of dogs barking 2 of our 3 mornings. It's not the dogs fault- dogs bark. But I don't want to hear it in my hotel room that is $500 a night. We turned in our free breakfast vouchers for points because the service was bad and breakfast was a few notches below room temperature. I could go on re: the elevators, etc.. but won't. I hope posting this review helps other travelers avoid this place. If you are going to stay here, do not pay more than $50 a night.…
Do not stay here. Extensive hotel renovations. There is no lobby and limited elevators in service. There was a line 15 deep to get on an elevator. Service is not very good. No one answers the phone for room service, and I received different answers from 3 people for the same question that I asked. Our pool view consisted of a hole in the ground. There was no mention of renovations when the room was booked. Terrible.
We stayed for 2 nights for a wedding. Even though I registered in block of rooms, we didn't get the wedding rate. Lobby under construction ( for over 6 months), no signs, but had to go to 5th floor conference room to check in. Mobile key system not working, lighting in room is terrible, particularly in the bathroom for anyone attempting to put on some makeup. There was no where to gather with our family. Due to construction, restaurant area was absolutely freezing with the cold snap. Way overpriced. Won't be staying again.
This hotel as of our stay (January 2023) is under a complete restoration. There is currently NO lobby, the internet in the rooms does not work, and the sounds of contruction can be heard in the rooms even on the weekends. The current entry into the hotel is thru the side valet door! And you have to walk thru a restaurant in order to check in! I can't say what this place will be like in the future, but currently, it is a DISASTER.
I own a marketing and PR firm in Orlando and my clients come in from all over the US. Without fail I am asked where clients should stay in the downtown area and my response is the same every time; The Grand Bohemian. Without question, The Grand Bohemian is the finest and most customer focused property in Downtown Orlando and I have experienced their hospitality first hand in meetings and dining. I have even had the privilege of attending two of their internal staff holiday parties. This is a property with heart and a world class staff who is as dedicated to making their guests feel at home as any of the finer hotels in Europe. I am a Marriott Titanium Member (Lifetime Platinum) and would put this property and team on par with the Marriott Park Lane in London, The Renaissance in Times Square, or the The Ritz Carlton near Georgetown (Washington DC), all of which are favorites of mine and I've reviewed in the past. The property is in the process of undergoing an extensive renovation, but it is very much a magical place. If you are dissuaded by the renovations, then you are missing out. The property is not about the physical appearance. It's about the staff and what they bring to the table. These are some of the most dedicated and joyful people you will ever meet and my experiences with them at their holiday parties are nothing short of remarkable. It's one thing if you have an issue at a property but it is worth noting when people go above and beyond to make it right. The Grand Bohemian is such a place. When my meeting room was not ready and as it should be this past Wednesday, they moved me into a hospitality suite and made sure I had everything I needed and more. My associate and I were spoiled and humbled by the generosity of the staff. They once again went above and beyond. It was more than enough to convert me from being a Grinch to a right jolly old elf. Thank you to everyone at the Grand Bohemian and I look forward to a long, continuing business relationship with all of you. Your hospitality and efforts are noticed and appreciated.…
The hotel was ok, but my neighbor partied at epic volumes until 3:30am and the front desk could care less. Then at 7am the fire alarms went off because they had forgotten to change the battery. Needless to say I got no sleep. If you want a place to party apparently this is it, but not if you want a good nights rest.
The Lobby was steeped in works of art. Front Desk Agent Sara expressed appreciation for my verbal appreciation of the mini-artwork room keys. Her pride was palpable as she showed me two other keys, each unique. The corridor leading to my top floor room was a veritable gallery of paintings. Even the room was a curated gallery comprised of four portrait paintings adorning the walls, their tonal palettes cool and calm. Two of several throw cushions were a rich, vibrant plum. My window framed a view of the Dr. Philips Center for Performing Arts located literally across the street. The room felt peaceful, a welcome respite. My toiletries stash includes bath bombs, one of which I happily lobbed into the bathtub which was filling rapidly. The morning shower was strong and hot; water pressure was consistent. Full-length bathrobes were luxuriously soft, and the soaps, lotions and potions seemed scented with a hint of chocolate mint. Internet service was strong and reliable; Downtown Orlando is safe and walk-able. I hope to return soon (after completion of restaurant renovation) and experience Grand Bohemian fine dining and jazz, prepared artfully!…
