Great location and affordable! More staff needed in diner...lines were crazy long. Could have been avoided had there been a couple more registers open. Parking cost $18 a day, yet watched the gate open and close without key entry. What am I paying for then?

We came down for a sports camp in the area and decided to stay at a resort. We needed to separate rooms but did not want 2 completely separate hotel rooms. The family suite was perfect and the view of Volcano Bay was beautiful. The suite was clean and using the online check in was a bonus before our arrival. It eliminated the long line at the regular check in point due to the large crowd of people checking in. The wait staff were very hospitable and timely. I expected some delays because of possible short staff or crowds but that was not the case. Very enjoyable experience.

I just returned today from a 5 day, 4 night trip to this resort. I went with my 10 year old son and his godfather. The resort is picturesque. It looks EXACTLY how it appears in advertisements in real life. It is immaculate and it has a multitude of things to do and enjoy. The food is incredible, the swimming pools are pristine, one pool area hosts a lazy river while the other hosts a slide in addition to cabanas. This is the first resort I visited where there was a multitude of warm towels poolside and plenty of chairs. They also sell float toys, as opposed to resorts that prohibit them. The pools are heated at night. The resort also has a bowling alley, an arcade and SEVERAL dining options. Shuttles run to Universal city walk round the clock and allow you early entry to the parks. If I had to be nit-picky just to be objective: I would say I wish the televisions were smart TV's so I could watch my apps from it...but who goes on vacation to watch TV? Also, we arrived super early and checked in online so checkin was a breeze, however we witnessed horrible lines as we walked through the lobby on some of the following days. Check in online and be prepared to wait, if the worst case scenario happens.

After reading about the horrible check in process and the lack of cleanliness, I wanted to change resorts, but I couldn’t get through to Universal so on we went and hoped for the best. Check in is as bad as everyone says - we arrived at 6:20 PM on a Friday and we didn’t get our keys until 8:15. We checked each night to see if it was a fluke, but it was just as bad Saturday evening and twice as long on Sunday! I still don’t understand why it takes them so long to check people in. There apparently is a mobile check in process, but only some of the guests are given that option, and you still have to wait in a line to get your keys, though that one seemed only about an hour long. Fortunately, our room was very clean and the rest of the resort was clean enough considering how many people were staying there. It was about on par with Disney’s all star resorts, which we’ve stayed at many times. But the crowds are unreal - be prepared to wait for anything you might need. Even calling the front desk was a 30 minute wait. The music by the pool was also super loud at night, so either don’t get a pool view or don’t expect to be able to go to bed before midnight if you’re a light sleeper. The one positive was the early entry and walkability of Volcano Bay. We got there right at 8 and were able to do all of the slides we wanted and swim in a relatively empty pool in the first 2.5 hours, which made up for the fact we couldn’t swim at the hotel pool because it was always packed with people. One last FYI for those who might be a little skittish about the new Delta variant even with vaccines - the driver of the shuttle to Citywalk packed us in like sardines and then encouraged us to sing. So bring a mask if you’re going to use the buses! Overall, even though we ultimately had a good time despite the terrible check in process, I wouldn’t stay here again. For the same amount of money you can stay at a Disney value resort and get much better customer service.

Enjoyed this hotel. Room was very clean, close to parks. Food was good. No disappointments at all. Would stay again and refer to others. Great value for the money. Cabana Bay is where we stayed. Parks were crowded and lines became long, but that's with any theme park I guess.
