First of all --- this hotel is doing renovations ! We did not experience bad smells in hallway or dirty beds. We were given a letter at check out ( which we were supposed to get at check in ) that explained them taking over property about 4 months ago and only being able to do renovations a little at a time ! That being said, the rooms are not horrible, just out dated and needed work. However, there are no locks on the outside doors into hotel and this should be a top priority seeing as how its not in the best part of town. So when making a decision , keep these things in mind ! We were supposed to stay 2 nights and only stayed 1 due to not feeling safe and having to leave our dogs there alone either. We did get a refund for the 2nd night.

I guess it's my fault for not reading reviews before booking, which I normally do. Halls smell like weed. It's pretty dirty and the bedroom has the bare minimum of everything. Bed was comfy and front desk staff was friendly. I paid way too much for what we got.

By far the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. I’m in my 60s and have traveled half way around the world and never have I seen a hotel more in need of a wrecking ball!!! I’d recommend that google remove this from there search engine. If I was clarion I would close or sell this location

The photos of this hotel are misrepresenting. The floors are disgusting with missing tiles. Ceilings are falling down. Stained bedding. Walls are beat up and dirty. Homeless people were sitting by the entrance. There was a homeless teenager they allowed to sleep in the hallway by our room. Out side of the room in the hallways was a horror show. I found drug paraphernalia in the down stair hallway. The walls/carpet/doors were in complete disrepair and grotesque. If you want to make a mental picture of this hotel think of a hotel that rents rooms by the hour in the slums. We were on Hot Rod Power Tour and arrived at the hotel about 5:00 pm and they had already charged us for the room. Unfortunately with so many people in town we were held prisoner there for the night. The only positive thing I can say about this place is that the shower had great water pressure and the towels were nice.

The Good: • The staff were all pleasant. The maid and maintenance staff were great, especially Manny. More on why we spent time with Manny below. The Bad: • This was the most minor issue: The TV was stuck in demo mode. The remote didn’t work with it at all since it was for the cable box. It could only be turned on/off at the source. 2 maintenance men helped, but Manny set it up again like it was new. Thanksomuch! • I chose this hotel because it was supposed to be pet friendly (albeit, at an additional cost). They knew in advance I was bringing a pet (a 15-yo cat who can no longer be boarded because of her age). But when I checked in and reminded the clerk that we had a pet (there’s always extra paperwork and the fee to pay), she told me, "We don’t take pets." As I’m mentally scrambling to try to figure out where we’re now going to stay, I questioned her about it, and in the end, she told me my pet would be okay, as if she was doing me a favor. That was not a great start. • The halls of the main hotel area, which is a separate building from the lobby & breakfast area, were vacuumed, but the outer and fire doors were so black with dirt, we carried wipes for after touching them • The room was tidy, but it had not been properly cleaned. — The the previous guest’s trash remained. — There were still pee drips on the floor from a previous male guest in front of the toilet — There was only 1 set of towels, and they were were still damp, seemingly previously used. One was still wet and drying on the side of the tub rim. — The floors were so dirty we bought swifter floor wipes to wipe them down because my pet, a cat, left black footprints across the bed sheets whenever she jumped on the bed. That wasn’t just gross, but a health issue for my pet. — Oh, and speaking of the beds — we reserved a king, but got 2 queens. Tho honestly, that’s not a really big deal, it just adds to the rest… especially the fact that there was only one pillow in the whole room. AFTER 3 REQUESTS (One in person) FOR AT LEAST ONE MORE PILLOW, WE GAVE UP AND WENT OUT AND BOUGHT OURSELVES PILLOWS & CASES!!! We don’t expect pristine or new anything from a budget hotel. But we shouldn’t have to wonder how long it’s been since it’s been properly cleaned. Much less have to buy pillows. I once cleaned hotel rooms, so I totally understand the difficult job it is. With this in mind, it’s important to me not to add to the maid’s chores with extra work because I travel with a pet. I bring a hand vacuum to clean up any stray litter, and the litter box left behind is completely bagged so it only needs to be disposed of. We routinely choose Choice hotels, and although we had never stayed at a Clarion before, we had a good impression of the chain. Now we’re unlikely to stay in one again. Well, I’ll start with the good: The maintenance staff was great. Manny gets extra kudos for taking the time on a Saturday to re-setup our TV from startup since when we arrived, it was in demo mode. Then that didn’t even work. Then it wouldn’t turn off. Then it would turn itself on for no reason, which is amazing since the remote didn’t work with it at all. Also, the main lobby seemed clean. And the woman who worked Saturday & Sunday morning was helpful enough.

Absolutely horrifying!! Zero Stars if it were possible. I am a Diamond member with Choice. I needed a room in Pensacola for the night of 5/4-5/5. We just got back for out west and my home was still being repaired from the tornado. So using my points I booked and paid for a reservation here. Under choice policy, a paid reservation is guaranteed until 7am before the guest is listed as a no show. I arrived at the hotel at 4:45 am due to my car having a flat. It was 2 hours later than I anticipated arriving. The door was locked to the office so I went to the night window with no response. So I went back to my car and continuously attempted to call the front desk to no avail. Finally at 5:58 the front desk lady comes by and says “can I help you?” I explained that I had a reservation and she tells me “you can’t check in until 4pm.” I told her my reservation was for last night but it is guaranteed until 7am. She then lets me into the lobby. She asks my name and then tells me I don’t have a reservation. Keep in mind this room was already paid for by rewards points, so by policy it is to be held until 7 am the following day. I called Choice reservations and they confirmed that it should have been held, however the clerk manually listed me as a no show. I then tell the clerk that I am obviously not a no show because I am here and have been since 4:45am. She then says she “isn’t going to argue back and forth with me and I need to find somewhere else to stay.” I told her I wouldn’t have to if she would’ve followed policy and not listed me as a no show. She then tells me that I need to leave the property. I asked for a refund of my points and she told me she wasn’t going to do that. So I said I will sit here and wait for the GM. I then get threatened by her and her remark “if you don’t leave I will call the police and have you physically removed.” This woman does not desert work in the hospitality industry, nor with anything to do with customer service because she obviously lacks the skills. I highly recommend that you find a more suitable place to stay when in Pensacola and steer clear of this hotel that doesn’t even deserve to bear the Choice name.

I have been using Choice Hotel chains for over 5 years, this is the worst ever. No microwave or fridge as stated, no remote to TV, and phones did not work. Will not recommend and will not use again. Areas not clean. Was not informed there were no elevator since I am a disable veteran.

I had scheduled a two night reservation. Didn't read previous reviews until after making reservations. Sequence of events upon arrival. 1) Arrived and received the key card from the clerk through the window. Similar to an urban YMCA. Doors are locked to lobby. 2) Door to outside has sign which says "Propping door is caused for removal". Well of course the door is broke, does not lock, and open to everybody. 3) Door to inside hallway is not locked and open to everybody. 4) Arrived at room and found bed not made. Went back to lobby window and received a 2nd room. 5) Went to 2nd room and found sheets and blankets laying on a chair. 6) Went back to lobby window and was offered a chance to cancel. This was idea for Clarion since I was then considered a cancel. Not considered for a refund. Great way to run a business. Treat customers awful and still get paid. After seeing these 2 rooms and reading other reviews could not risk a 3rd time try for a room. Decided to go to another hotel. At 9PM trying to find another hotel was better than chancing an opportunity for 3rd room at the Pensacola Clarion. Hope you read and believe these reviews before making any reservation.

There is nothing good about this place except the gal at the front desk who cares about guests. Complete disrepair is the best way I can describe the Clarion in Pensacola. Clearly, the owners care nothing about their guests or a successful business. Almost everything electrical is non-functioning, can’t be plugged in, is missing light bulbs, or doesn’t have a switch plate. There was no TV remote in the second room we were in (we had to be moved out of the first one). Also in the second room were similar issues with lights, cords, etc. I’m thinking of using up remaining Choice points and staying exclusively with Marriott and Hilton. Not willing to roll the dice on places like this again.

This place was so bad that even though we had prepaid for the stay, we left and booked a stay elsewhere! When we arrived at around 7:30pm, the place was locked up and all you could get to was an area with a bell to ring and a closed off reception area, but there was no receptionist there. We kept ringing the bell and no one answered. However, looking around at the place, and taking in the fact that it looked like somebody tried to break the receptionist's protective glass, we decided it was too terrible and scary looking for us to stay. Now, looking at the other reviews, I wish I had read them first, but I'm so happy we didn't stay! I can't believe this property had a rating or 2.5 stars!! Choice Hotels should be ashamed to even have this as a part of their chain!
