We are again in aw of mother nature, watching the dolphins and fish in the gulf is amazing. The park is pretty far from the supermarkets ,so come prepared. The sunsets are beautiful on the beach ,it's a true event for all. Trails, deer, biking, fishing, boating, it has...More

Holy cow. I love this place. Worth the 14 hour drive to get there and the campgrounds were bear-free and that's just the way I like 'em. In all seriousness, we stayed 3-nights at a tent-only spot and loved every minute. The weather was beautiful,...More

We've stayed here for many years and it suits us but may not suit everyone. Realize there are two campgrounds in the park. The Gulf Breeze campground is relatively open and sandy, and the middle section is crowded. This campground does have one very modern...More

Not many parks ON the beach. This one is nice! Full access, easy walk, no stairs, pull your wagon or beach cart. We're a fishing family. Apparently we're not the only ones. Lots of fishermen out there on a beautiful October weekend. All we caught...More

We are a family of 6 considering tent camping Labor Day week or sometime in September to make use of scallop season this year. Typically we camp somewhere on the Gulf in October to avoid the heat. We camped once in August and said never again bc we overheated (granted there was also a bizarre thick algae in the water so you couldn't get in to cool off- literally). I am seeing several people with summer travel dates that tent camp. Is it not that hot? When I look at the average temps (close to 90), it seems like a really bad idea to even try. We love nature and wildlife so I'm sure we'll love this campground and would be near the water most of the day, but I'm second guessing braving the heat just to get the scallops. Would it be substantially more pleasant if we waiting til October? Thoughts? And yes I am aware of the biting bugs - we're prepared for that. THANK YOU in advance for any insight.

First off, no matter the time of year, you should not have to worry about algae or anything unpleasant interfering with your enjoyment of the water here - you have the bay on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other... More

We just went a couple of months ago. We could get a signal while on the beach (not bayside) but could not while in the cabin. Hope that helps.
