As many others we received the call that Sandpiper bay was under renovation. We decided hesitatingly to go ahead with our booking. We couldn’t be more pleased with our stay. The people who work here are the heart of this operation. They truly care about your vacation experience and have work ethic beyond anything you could ask for. Lance is an enthusiastic leader. Not only is he friendly and helpful but he consistently interacts with guests, giving the best Windham resort experience. You can find him offering the best in entertainment and hospitality always with a warm smile. James is often on the sun deck bartendering but can also be found working at the slice terrace. You can recognize him by his fine brown skin, beautiful singing voice and fantastic customer service. They could really truly and honestly give James a gig to sing. He croons a beautiful love song and we couldn’t get enough of hearing him sing from his heart! Next I’d love to mention Jauquin. His friendly demeanor and help all attitude goes so far in this enterprise. He is constantly bringing a friendly and bright face to the guests. Not to mention his absolutely delicious Margarita. He is a joy to meet and know. Ashley can be found at the slice terrace. She is an absolute beast. When things are busy. When things go bad. Call Ashley. She is going to fix things up. Do the drinks, talk to the people. You can count on her. I was impressed with the freshness and quality of the food offerings in the Marketplace. It is a well run establishment, probably thanks to Cindy. ;) I’d like to shout out an unexpected member of the kitchen crew Tony (Tumee). His station can be found opposite of the bread. I had the most authentic curry as well as many other fabulous ethnic choices during my stay. All were flavored authentically and deliciously. I met this wonderful guy on my last day. After my high regards of his cuisine we shared a wonderful hug. He is truly a fine human and fantastic cook. Truly lovely. These are only a few of the amazing crew you will see diligently working the grounds, keeping things tidy and running smoothly. I will certainly be back after the renovations to create more memories in this beautiful landscape. I really appreciate all the hard work you are doing here. Thank you.

We arrived the day of Memorial Day me and my wife both in her 60s with our grandchildren 2 and 4. On checking the girl Natalie was very nice and accommodating. I asked to have a room close to the activities in the pool. I was given room B1 28which was very large somewhat dated but did the trick. The grounds and a resort Rare under construction/destruction. There is only one pool open with very little activities for kids and adults. The food there is only buffet in it is hit or miss somewhat like fast food but workers are very nice. The Riverfront was closed for 2 days while we were there so no activities. The bar service is good with a bartender and the liquor is of generic quality.. Overall I would not stay here again until they finished the renovations. our experience was one of we tried to make the best times weekly. The room floor even flooded a one-day.

We visited Sandpiper Bay in March before many of the current renovations began. We had a accumulated a lot of Wyndham points during Covid and it looked like a good place to use some of them. It is a very large property, a former Club Med, with multiple buildings in need of major renovation to achieve its full potential. As you may notice, reviews seem to be either excellent or either terrible or very poor. As a previous reviewer points out, it really depends on your expectations. If you expect a well maintained luxurious resort with a variety of specialty restaurants, top shelf unlimited beverages, spectacular entertainment and a beautiful beach, you will be very disappointed. If you expect a family centered atmosphere with activities for all ages and no worries about how to feed the children at every mealtime, you will probably be pleased with your stay. There were 3 pools open when we were there. Most of our time was at the infinity pool near our residential building. I did see from one review that only one of the pools was open during their stay. I would guess this will be an ongoing problem while renovations are being made. . The rooms are large and have been cleaned up a bit, but have a lot of minor problems that need repair or total renovation. The Mexican tile floors are cracked in places and were never really clean during our 4 day stay. We noticed broken outdoor lighting fixtures and many other items around the property that needed fixing. Food service is one large buffet open at mealtimes. There is a good variety of food and most everyone in your party should be able to find something they like. We did get a little tired of it, and went to outside restaurants a couple of times during our stay. Beer taps and wine are available at lunch and dinner. Wine bottles are mostly a pretty decent Chilean red or white. Speaking of beer, there are no craft beers on site. The only import we found was a Dos Equis tap at one of the bars. Also no premium liquors are included. If you want a Tito's martini, it is $10 extra. The beach is just a sandy strip on the river. Atlantic beaches on Hutchinson Island are about 30 minutes away. Evening entertainment by a couple who live on a sailboat nearby was quite good. They had a very nice mix of songs and were joined some nights by other area musicians. Still, this is pretty low key entertainment compared to what is included at many higher class all-inclusives in the Caribbean or elsewhere. The resort employs a lot of people and I am sure the property is a major asset in the local economy. Staff was well trained and generally very helpful. Bottom line, this property needs a lot of work, but ownership seems to be committed to getting it done. As an older couple, it wasn't that appealing to us, but it may be to you. It just depends on your expectations.

Honestly, I was worried after reading recent reviews. What I was happy to realize was that those travelers had different expectations. We were a multigenerational group of 17, ranging in age from 1-78. Yes, there was construction, but it in no way impacted our ability to get around. Yes, the food was buffet in one location but always many choices for the kids, the picky adults and more adventurous palate. Breakfast was great with an omelette station and lots of choices, lunch gave a good variety of light, healthy and more substantial fare, dinner had a pasta bar, always a carving station option and some interesting daily special including rices, braised pork, oxtail, salmon and a delicious cooked at station red snapper. Plenty of dessert options, ice cream and beverages. We were even given bottles of wine at our table. The F&B manager and staff accommodated us in a private area for a large birthday celebration and stored our cakes until service. We were able to bring in a photographer to have a family photo shoot on the beach. With only one pool open you would have thought it be too crowded, it was not. Always plenty of seats and room to swim. Many older children participated in camp, ours were too young but they did have an open bounce house event and a splash pad event we participated in both were well Staffed and very fun. The bartenders were terrific but I will say, someone should look into getting a “virgin frozen” bar for the kids since they seemed to always be having to pump those out. We enjoyed live entertainment each evening, corn hole and ping ping as well as using the kayaks. We rented jet skis and a pontoon boat for an evening cruise. While the facilities could benefit from upgrades it did not impede our fun. I have been to much more expensive places with equal need for upgrades and much worse food. The key here is management, they work very hard, the staff is so pleasant and accommodating. This is a FAMILY resort and if that is what your looking for, this is the right place. We hope to visit again in a few years.

We stayed at the Sandpiper Bay Resort with family and it was an excellent vacation for us all. We ranged in age from 1 to 78 and celebrated 2 birthdays. The staff was excellent. Yes, there is ongoing construction, and one pool was closed, but we were told that would be happening. The food was very good, and I would call it an upscale buffet. Every night there was at least one food item that was excellent, and most were definitely above average. The water sport service was especially excellent. We rented jet skis, I kayaked and our family went on the one of the boat excursions. The customer service was excellent. I would recommend the Sandpiper Bay All-Inclusive for an easy family vacation getaway and we hope to visit again once the renovations are complete.

My family had a reunion this past weekend. We had the best time. The resort is having some Contruction done but it did not get in our way of a good time. Thank you to the restaurant staff for letting us set up a table for my cousins birthday. Thank you to Shannon for the water exercise class. My mom uses a walker and with a tube she was able to participate. We will always remember this trip. I will be back in September for a girls trip. I look forward to seeing the resort's new look.

A great place to stay!! The hotel is undergoing renovations and the matresses are rough but don't let that stop you. The staff is wonderful. 5 stars!!! Let's start with the food. Amazing!! It's chefs like Cyndi and Olicia cousins that cook the most amazing fresh meat and culinary delights. Love these ladies and their cooking. Even my chef Tony from Taiwan killed it with his short ribs. Suze and Rosa at the restaurant bussing tables goes to show you its not your typical buffet, she kept the table clean and orderly. They actually care about your experience. Lets talk watersports, Gabbi, Yovan, David are awesome people. Well worth the price for the add on for jetski experience. Just go do it, they will get you into a great weather spot to go on the water. The bay is huge. The custodial staff Jean, the housekeeping staff Franni, were all wonderful sweeping and keeping the place spic and span even after the thunderstorms. Now for sports, we highly recommend doing a private golf lesson with Marie-Clair and tennis lessons with Geno. Both amazing pros and so worth the sports lesson. The spa staff were also outstanding. Ask for Christa as the MT and Ashley the estetician. Great people and run by Caroline...just people that take care of you. The fitness staff, Shannon was amazing to do aqua classes with. Leidy and her outstanding, super superb kids care staff were sooo great. Shout out to Cameron, Kobe, Mariya, Louis, Ava and so many more!! Bring your kids!! The bar staff like Kelli were always on hand to serve the good drinks. Finally let me recognize Brittany and Paige the front desk managers with their staff Angela, Jonathan, and so many to recognize for making sure our check in and entire stay were memorable. Thank you all again. What a team!!
