He was a land surveyor for the St. Johns Railroad (whose tracks spread from the San Sebastian River to Tocoi) and was a heavy hitter in the development of the Intracoastal Waterway that links the St. Johns River to Miami. In the 1970s, it was converted into a guest house and has been entertaining tourists and travelers ever since! Today, Bayfront Westcott House is a 16-room, full-service bed and breakfast. Where to begin to try and describe this extraordinary bed & breakfast. As you walk up to this elegant and historic inn, you will notice everything is impeccably maintained. The staff at the Bayfront Westcott House should be the model for every hospitality establishment. They are truly second to none. They are warm, informative, and they will do anything to make your stay perfect. The rooms at the Bayfront Westcott House are impeccably clean. The rooms blend the best of modern luxury while still maintaining a historic inn. High quality linens, soaps, and hot water will greet you. Before you walk to dinner (as you are walking distance to everything in downtown St. Augustine) enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and hors d' oeuvres served daily. Imagine sitting on the covered porch looking out at the Matanzas Bay sipping your wine and feeling a slight breeze across your face, and hearing the inn's water fountain gently cascading. All of your stress will slip away. This inn is geared towards adults. A more refined atmosphere. In the morning you are treated to a gourmet breakfast served to you by the amazing staff. This inn runs like a well oiled machine. Free parking is included in your room rate. The parking lot just a few blocks away, and you are able to load and unloaded your luggage in front of the inn. If someone should have a complaint about this inn, than honestly your dealing with an unhappy person who could never be satisfied.

Words can not express the level of service, beauty, care, and cleanliness that this B&B exudes. Our stay was nothing less than perfect. Every request was taken care of immediately, down to the smallest detail of leaving ice in our room before the staff left for the night and remembering my preference for vanilla creamer with morning coffee. The breakfast was delicious, filling, and excellent quality. Afternoon snacks were a mini meal with a nice selection of cheeses, fruit, crackers, and wine. Everything was spotlessly clean, great quality, and done with comfort in mind. The location is close to everything you would want to see while staying in this historic city. You will not be disappointed. We are already planning a return visit in October largely to stay at this B&B.

The Bayfront Westcott House was absolutely delightful! The staff were amazing and could not do enough for us. The owner Joy obviously loves the inn, as her touches of hospitality are reflected in the exceptional service and personal touches you receive. The rooms are decorated beautifully, beds are comfortable with soft fresh white linens. Breakfast was homemade and delicious! Happy hour included a gorgeous cheese and fruit platter with wine daily, served whenever we wanted. The decks are comfortable with spectacular views of the inlet, bridge and famous lighthouse. My wife and i live 45 minutes away and we decided to go to ST. Augustine for a long birthday weekend. We love this city and have stayed at many places but none as friendly and attentive as the Baycott. From the minute we stepped on the property the entire staff introduced themselves and were friendly, informative and ready to help. There are lots of choices for breakfast and the food is awesome. There is also a 5 o'clock happy hour with snacks, desserts, wine and beer. The location is only two blocks from downtown and the river and all the boats are just across the street . Spectacular views from the porches and many balconies....this our new go to place to stay. Thank you Joy, Ryan and all your staff for a great weekend.

This bed and breakfast had a lovely honeymoon special including breakfast in bed with mimosas, hour long couples massage and a free happy hour. Everything you want to visit is walking distance and any accommodations needed are done for you. My husband and I will be returning to celebrate our anniversary!

This was our first time staying in a bed and breakfast. It was a very special occasion so I wanted something high end that would make us feel spoiled. The Bayfront Westcott didn't disappoint! The rooms were nice. The breakfast was AMAZING and catered to exactly what you need or want. The service was outstanding. We were treated like royalty. Unlimited non-alcoholic drinks all day and free beer/wine during their happy hour, with dips and cheeses. I may or may not have gotten just a giant plate of cheese. My advice to new comers is to look at the location of your room before booking. We had a room in the newer second building. We preferred this because we had a private entrance. Many of the rooms are inside the main house and you will have people walking by your room/door often. I imagine it would cut down on the privacy and "romance" a bit. The location is perfect walking distance to all of the St. Augustine attractions and a such drive to the beach. We will definitely be coming back!

After COVID hibernating for two months we made the short trip to St Augustine for a wedding anniversary get-away. Discovered this gem while looking for a waterfront view. We were not disappointed and the stay exceeded our expectations.
On arrival we were met by Ryan, the manager, who greeted us warmly, showed us the room and identified highlights of the property. As this was our first time staying at a B&B, his help throughout the weekend was always appreciated.
We stayed in Anastasia, a lovely room with hall access to the wide second story balcony overlooking the bay south of the Bridge of Lions. Large bathroom with a soaking tub. While the tub is designed as a jetted tub, the jets have been disabled on account of health department rules on recirculating water. Hopefully when the COVID threat has passed the jets will be restored. No matter, we enjoyed soaking after a day of exploring the town.
As it was our anniversary we requested roses and a card to be placed on arrival. The staff did an exceptional job and allowed us to bring the vase home with us.
In lieu of the social hour in and around the dining room, the B&B offered a nightly cheese and fruit plate delivered to the room. Once again, the attention to detail was apparent.
Sleeping was comfortable and quiet.
Breakfast was top flight with several delicious choices. The wait staff went above and beyond ensuring our culinary satisfaction.
All in all, a simply wonderful weekend. While the accommodations were exceptional, the care and attention of the staff was even more so. Every question and comment was received with patience and a smile. Equally important was the friendliness of the other guests. All those we had the pleasure of meeting had stayed here before. We made some lovely new friends too.
I am afraid this will become our "go-to" place for future weekend escapes.

We do not customarily stay at B&Bs but this property seemed to check all the boxes of what we were looking for in our one night stay at St. Augustine and it did not disappoint! We were greeted with information that was helpful to our stay; free parking a few blocks away (after unloading in front of the house); walking distance to most EVERYTHING; wonderful food; super comfortable bed; awesome bed linens. The room was a picture of perfection when we entered. One thing: the descriptions of the rooms are very accurate and if you are wanting a certain type of onsuite bathroom be sure to read the descriptions. Our onsuite was perfect for our needs - it appears to have been a converted closet. if someone was wanting a larger bathroom, they would not have wanted to have been in our room. we loved everything about the stay. wish we could have stayed longer.

I have always wanted to stay at a bed and breakfast. This certainly set the bar high and made my birthday getaway so very special. The room was really clean and well set up. The balcony and outside of the room were well-lit at night. I thought it was great that complimentary bottles of water were included in the room. The birthday package exceeded my expectations. Although I saw pictures online and knew about the package add-on, the special touches and attention to detail still made it a sweet surprise. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choices. The staff was wonderful and made me feel special throughout my stay. They were so attentive. Even, the newest staff member Austin was knowledgeable and helpful. He answered my many questions and even provided a restaurant recommendation which we absolutely enjoyed. I hope to return again one day.

We stayed for 5 days and 4 nights in the Caroline room. The room was charming, comfortable and well appointed. The entire inn was beautiful throughout.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. In fact, two of the staff were very, VERY helpful and knowledgeable about local restaurants, attractions, and happenings and helped us plan much of our stay.
Breakfast—every day—was exceptional. Both my wife and I are vegetarian and had certain dietary restrictions at that time and all of our needs were met without a hitch.
A couple things came up that, in my opinion, earned “almost” excellent status:
The happy hour was charming, but the hors d’oeuvres plate comprised of all store-bought food. The cookies in the parlor were store-bought. They did such a nice job at breakfast I am sure they could pull off some wonderfully creative fresh made cookies and snacks!
My biggest complaint is noise. While we absolutely loved the waterfront location, there was quite a bit of construction going on. And while I know this is uncontrollable, we could have been told. And, we specifically asked for a quiet room.
And regarding the noise, our room was on ground level, directly outside the breakfast and meeting area of the B&B right next door. So, early every morning and every evening we had people gathering right outside our lovely bay window for breakfast and social time. Good for them—I am glad the guests are having a good meal and a fun time. But again, I would have appreciated that my request for a quiet room would have been honored.
In the end, I do recommend staying at the Bayfront Wescott. Just make sure you have a candid discussion with the staff about the noise and how your room’s location might be affected
