Pros: the hotel was very clean and I always saw the cleaning staff working on rooms and public spaces; the location is convenient to many different locations including only 5 minutes to the beach; the front desk staff were welcoming and helpful; for the first few days of my stay, the pool area was very clean and everyone around was respectful; ample seating in the lobby area and a large TV; the hotel is pet friendly and none of the dogs I encountered were aggressive or loud, very well managed animals; loved the location of my room within the hotel; the noise level was very low and made sleeping easy; the temperature was easy to control in the rooms Cons: on the last day/night of my stay, the outdoor area and pool area were filled with people smoking and cigarette butts were all over the ground, it was so bad the air was hard to breathe in the outdoor areas which is concerning since this hotel is listed as a smoke free property; there are limited food options for people with allergies; my key stopped working (along with multiple other guests), but the head of housekeeping was fantastic and got me new keys; housekeeping only came two times and neither time did they fix the beds; the hot tub was not working the first couple days of my stay; the TVs did not allow you to log into your Netflix account to watch shows; the chairs by the pool are not adjustable and because they are curved in shape you can only lay on your back not your stomach…
We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights for a basketball tournament. IHG is not my usual brand but this was the team’s choice. Overall my priorities in a hotel were met. Cleanliness is my top priority and I rate it 3/5. It would have been a 5/5 until the last night when they didn’t clean the room or replenish the towels. Otherwise it was a very clean hotel with room cleaning 3/4 of the days we stayed. Location was 5/5 as it was close to everything, Amenities were 3/5 for a nice breakfast and a heated pool and hot tub. The hot tub didn’t have working jets, but it was hot enough to be enjoyable, even during a cold front. 1 day the hot tub wasn’t working properly, but it was fixed quickly and heated up in a short time. Pool towels are basically hand towels and have to be signed out from the front desk, which surprised me from a hotel in this price range. Breakfast is the same every day, but it had a few options to choose from. I rate the staff a 4/5, which would have been 5/5 had the housekeeping been done our last day. Staff were very friendly and the manager was very professional! This is a very busy hotel but they managed the crowd well. Some short waits for the elevator at times. Overall, if our team returned to the area, I would not object to staying at this hotel again. To be a 5 star hotel, ensure housekeeping services daily to all rooms that request it, provide a little variety to the breakfast for longer staying guests, fix the hot tub, and provide regular sized pool towels by the pool.…
I shall say I have had nothing but great service and a wonderful experience at all of the Holiday inn expresses I have been at in the last year. The upgrades are just lovely, and the consistency from hotel to hotel is super. All of that is the same story at this one. The difference in this one is that they have charged me a $250 cleaning fee for smoking in the room, but I did not smoke in the room. I do smoke a pipe, and I admitted to wiping it out with a tissue and throwing the tissue into the garbage, but I did not smoke in the room. I don't smoke in my own room. Nonetheless the housekeeper said the room smelled of smoke and that's all it takes to get $250 out of you. Here's the rub: The policy is if you smoke in the room you'll have to pay $250. It doesn't say if there's a smell of smoke in the room, it says if you smoke in the room. People who smoke sometimes bring the smell of smoke in on their clothing or in their smoking device. Apparently that's what happened here, but I didn't smoke in the room. When someone says, "This is a smoke free room, if you smoke in the room you'll pay a $250 fine," I can understand that. So I didn't smoke in the room. If the policy is if there's a smell of smoke you have to pay $250 then they have to tell you that at the outset. That's not what I was told, and I'm not going to win this battle. But I know who did this to me.…
Stayed here for a business trip. I was impressed as I had stayed at other properties in the IHG group. The hotel lobby and room was modern and updated. The breakfast was the same options daily, but the breakfast staff kept the area clean and well stocked. Your room is refreshed daily: New towels and beds made. As a traveler post-COVID, many, if most hotels these days are room attendance by request only. It is a great location with a two minute door-to-door walk to neighboring Walmart. Only down side was the lobby men's restroom was hard to find to the right of the elevators, and the toilet was out of service the whole week I was there. Great place for a return trip to the area!
Cleanest hotel we have stayed at during our US visit. From the pool, breakfast area and up to our room the hotel looked nipping clean and new. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. They obviously run a tight ship with good professionalism. Location is good, short drive to beaches and gulf boulevard/Johns Pass. Walmart and Publix very near and shopping Mall 10 minutes away. Breakfast was good with lots of choice and tended to by friendly staff. Pool area is ideal to spend some time and relax. We would definitely stay here again for 3 nights on a good rate compared to other hotels in the area. Free parking also.
Beautiful hotel!! Stayed here just for a night and wish it was longer. Staff was amazing, always smiling and greeting everyone as they pass by. Definitely the best breakfast i’ve had in a hotel, and i must add i travel quite often. Room was clean and so was lobby and all common areas, it is noticeable that they take good care of this property. I will definitely be back!!!
Room smelled of mildew bathroom and felt wet- bathroom filthy ! Manager Lizzy not willing to do anything about smelly mildew room or dirty bathrooms. Said we could switch room at midnight with 4 kids already asleep. Also won’t let you cancel if you book through their website. Booking direct from their website is almost twice the rate of all the third party sites and they don’t honor any lower price an can’t cancel . Dont not stay here if you can help it… do your research… for these prices you can stay closer to the beautiful beaches. The area is shady so not worth the bill $160-$200 plus a night- . And worst holiday inn express I’ve seen in a long time. Bad customer service and overpriced for smelly dirty rooms. Don’t let the nice pictures in the web fool you. Looks nothing like them.…
Booked this hotel primarily because it was ranked #4 out of 49 hotels in St. Pete on Trip Advisor. Location is not great as it is in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Breakfast was typical for a Holiday Inn Express. The hotel however is not well maintained. There was mold in ceiling the bathroom, the toilet paper roll holder was missing one of the bars to hold it in place (with holes in the wall were it previously had been attached), the shaving mirror was rusted and did not extend. The hallways leading to a from the elevators looked like they had not been mopped in days and were streaked with dirt (I am guessing people tracking in dirt and water from the pool area?) Worst of all, there was fecal matter on the half-wall adjacent to the toilet. We reported this to the lady at the front desk, who expressed her embarrassment. She did not offer to send someone the clean the area and offered no additional accommodation. Have stayed at IHG properties across the country and this is by far my worst experience.…
Our family absolutely loved staying at this IHG property. Very, very clean hotel, updated rooms, lobby and pool. Alot of selections for breakfast. During our stay we inquired about the paid parking at the Madeira Beach and the best spot. Emily, I'm assuming is a manager (if not, should be) told us where we should go, and they had a free shuttle and loaned out beach towels. Our shuttle driver Kevin was very professional and so polite. We were there a short time but felt like we had new friends when we left. This will be my choice again when we go back. Pam C. from Camden Point, Missouri
A few 30-somethings planned a last-minute spring break trip to escape winter in March, and with a Priceline gamble, we ended up at this hotel. While we were originally hoping for something right on the beach, we were so happy with this hotel. The room was nice, and we had all the basics we needed. The pool, lobby, and other common spaces were great, as was the location. I was not keen on living in a Walmart parking lot at first, but it was really useful, and the beach was just a short Lyft or hotel shuttle away! A few of us had to work a couple days, and the hotel staff was so accommodating, even letting us use the conference room to take work calls - Thank you, Alison! And I want to give a particularly loud shout out to Tariq, the manager, who made our stay amazing. He and his staff really went the extra mile to ensure that we were taken care of, and we will not forget it. We had a lovely week in FL thanks in large part to all those lovely people.…
