We only stayed 1 night at the Kona Kai Motel, but I guess first impression is usually the right one... The Manager Brenda is really sweet and extremely helpful. And at first glance the place looked nice; small cottages situated around a pool and BBQ area. But our room was not OK. It was very shabby to say the least,...

Dear Mai C, Thank you for your kind words about me and my interactions with my guests. I wish I had been approached about your dissatisfaction with your accommodation. I would never hesitate to move a guest to another room if asked. The Kona Kai was purchased by new owners less than two years ago. Lenny and I were hired...

We would like to keep secret what we have discovered at Kona Kai. We don't want EVERYONE to know what a great place this is to stay on Sanibel..First of all, the location is perfectly in the middle for shopping, beaching, eating, and biking. We have stayed at Kona Kai twice before, but this visit was the best due to...

i was aghast at the review I read by Nana G when I went online today to book my annual stay at the Kona Kai. My family and I have been vacationing on Sanibel/Captive for the past 20 years. We had always stayed at the larger resorts but a couple years ago decided to try the Kona Kai at the...

WOW. What a wonderful place to stay. It's in a central location of Sanibel with everything within biking distance and several things within walking distance. Brenda & Lenny ? I can't say enough nice things about them. Two of the nicest people I've ever met. The room was great. Very quaint, quiet and romantic. Though not directly on the beach,...

Our experience was pretty much opposite that of Anne F.'s family. We were driving from Ft. Myers to the Ocala area to visit relatives and decided to spend a couple of nights on Sanibel. We had visited Sanibel several years back and loved the nature and beaches there. The Kona Kai was available and within our price range ( high...

My husband, myself and our 4 year-old son come to Sanibel every year for our holiday. In the past we have always stayed at one of the bigger beach resorts. This year we needed to save money and chose the Kona Kai. It was the best decision we could have made. We had the most fabulous holiday ever thanks to...

We stayed a couple of nights here and found it an oasis after the zoo of Fort Meyers. Much money has been spent and the result is excellent. The rooms are close together and the balconies are shared but this was not a problem. Having the first caffeine-dose early morning sitting on the verandah was a wonderfully tranquil, peaceful experience....

We drove onto the Island with no reservations and thought we'd wing it! I had seen Kona Kai online before we went out to Fla. I stopped in and spoke with Brenda and explained our situation. Not only did she set us up with a nice, newly renovated room, which was very comfortable and had great water pressure in the...

My husband and I recently returned from a 4-day stay at the Kona Kai. A Sanibel resident on a Tripadvisor forum suggested it as a budget option, and it really worked out for us. In reflecting upon our stay at the Kona Kai, here are a few of our thoughts. We stayed there as a couple and went with the...

If Sanibel is your destination, Kana Kai is a must visit. We loved the clean rooms, moderate price and tropical grounds. Lenny and Brenda made us feel like family. Will definitely make it back for another visit.
