The couch and chair arms are so dirty they are almost black. The people next door brought sheets to cover the sofa and chairs The fridge, stove, pots and pans are rusty. They said there is wifi but I couldn't get it to connect. I missed work several days as the ATT service is spotty, too The lady next door said it's so bad she brings her own bedding, towels, cookware and dishes. Watched someone trying to get a pontoon boat out of the water on the ramp and it's so steep they broke the strap.
Georgia Boys is a great fishing camp. You have access to any kind of freshwater fishing you could want-creek, river, and two excellent lakes. The folks who run this place are extremely nice and helpful. We have been there before and it's as good now as it always was. You won't be disappointed if you want a good fishing trip.
I am giving Georgia Boys a 5 STAR because of the great 'customer service focus' of the Georgia Boys staff. This is the 3rd year we have traveled from Iowa to Georgia Boys Fish Camp. The first time we stayed eight days, last year 4 weeks and this year (2020)- five weeks. We stay in cabin #14 which is the 'deluxe' crappie cabin. This cabin can house as few as one person or as many 10 if you add the additional two bedrooms! In 2018, we were looking for a place to stay and to rent a boat. I called McGhee's Boat Rental to inquire about a boat, and Scott McGhee sold us on the place! It is because of Scott that we have been re-booking and adding more days to our trip. He is there to assist with everything from loading your boat, selling bait and answering questions 24/7. Don't get me wrong.... the place is 'spot-on' clean and is well-stocked with everything you need. However, the place i s beginning to 'show it's age', It definitely could use a facelift! The fish camp recently sold, and we are looking forward to meeting the new owners. Previous owners were at the property every week we were there but didn't really visit or make us feel 'welcome'. ..... that came from the staff. Now a little bit about our cabin. It was immaculately clean and well-equipped with kitchen and bathroom items. There is a safe in each unit which is a good touch! As noted earlier, the furnishings need a facelift but that can be overlooked because or the location and outstanding service! I will make an attempt to attach a few pictures. Thanks to Scott M. and Laurie K for the 10 STAR FISH CAMP SERVICE.…
Just finished another 7 days at Georgia Boys Fish Camp. Weather did not cooperate for all 7 days but the good days(5) were great. Black crappie bite was on fire. All those that fished for them got a limit(25 each) or very close. There is no doubt that spider rigged boats are the fishing platform of choice and they catch fish. I stayed in one of the kitchenette rooms. They have everything you need. Great appliances and kitchen tools. The rooms are very clean and neat and the beds are just like home. Bathroom clean as pin and very functional. As usual Scot McGhee was on the ball. Helps you launch and recover your boat which is great as I was by myself. Also, great to just sit around and visit with him and of course visiting with Kris and Diane is always a pleasure. Can’t wait to get back over. It really does not matter if the fish bite. Just being there and on the water is great. Beautiful Dunn’s Creek and the St Johns River are just plain fun to traverse. Saw several bald eagles and a rare siting of a golden eagle. Golden’s in Florida are not as plentiful as bald eagles but they do occur.…
Something about the St John's river and Dunn's Creek that I magical to me. Georgia Boys is not fancy. If you like five star accommodations skip it. If bugs and nature isn't your thing, you need not stay here. This is old time fish camp from days gone by. The buildings and dock has seen better days as the elements and hot Florida sun has taken it's toll but you couldn't ask for a more awesome place to be. Quiet, plenty of outdoor space, grill, picnic tables, covered dock with plenty of seating for making new friends, visiting old friends. Scott McGhee operates the facility and there is no harder working man. He does a great job and whatever they pay isn't enough. He is always accessible, either in person or by phone. Helps to launch your boat or unload, brings fresh towels, whatever you need. Each day he or the ladies collects your trash, brings towel, soap, etc. The grass and grounds are kept very manicured. There is an old fish cleaning station still used daily. The cottages are furnished and have basic kitchen wear, coffee pot, fridge etc. The beds have fresh sheets and are decent unless your super picky. This is a great get away for fishing people and nature lovers. Scott also runs a boat rental out of Georgia Boys. Cheap prices. We took a pontoon out one day. He gave us a great price. We had a blast. …
I didn't rate this place excellent because of the accommodations. The room is modestly furnished, with a small tv that we never watched. The bathroom was small. It was quaint. I rated this place, excellent, because of one individual who went out of his way to ensure everything went well. Scott is someone every company needs working for them. This fish camp had boat rentals, a well furnished bait and tackle store and a floating dock. The nature was so beautiful, with Eagles, Osprey and Heron everywhere.
Location, Location, Location!! The camp itself is outdated at best. If you are going to fish, 5 stars for location. My room did leave a lot to be desired. But, for $60 a night!! The linens were clean and the pillows did not smell!! The boat ramp is pretty steep, so be careful when loading or unloading your boat. I would stay again....
I highly recommend a stay here..its clean..friendly and quiet! Lots of fish to be caught and the owner is laid back and awesome...well worth your money...stay once and you will be back!!Thanks Georgia Boys for making our getaway worth it!!
In late September spent another 9 days at the fish camp. As usual the accommodations were great—clean and well appointed, especially for a fish camp. Kudos to owners Kris and Diane on a great camp and lots of thanks and atta boys and atta girls to staff members Scott and Tammy. Tammy keeps the living quarters extremely clean and neat. Scott is a great manager and fixer of many problems. Also both folks are very friendly with great personalities and just fun to be around. Will be staying with them again for a week this month—November. Water was unusually high due to continued NE winds, but fish still bit. Just took a little long to find them.
I just spent nine nights at Georgia Boys fish camp near Satsuma, Fl. Fantastic accommodations for an old time fish camp. I was in cabin number 12, a one bedroom unit. The unit had a twin and single bed and sleeper love seat. Nice big roomy shower stall. Ample storage Wall A/C unit was practically knew and did good job of cooling unit and it was in the 90s the whole time I was there. Enough utensils to handle my bachelor cooking needs. The kitchen appliances were practically new. Nice big fridge, decent size microwave, and large four burner gas stove. Big screen TV on the wall in the kitchen. Good boat ramp and non-ethanol gas available. Lots of good bait in the store. Owner Chris is great guy to visit with. Manager Scott McGhee is great and very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Fine housekeeping staff of one, Miss Tammy. Pricing was good. I paid for seven nights and stayed for nine. Can also do pay for five and stay for seven. This is a very good deal given all you get for the price.…
