We visited the recreation area last week for just the weekend and had a great time. The camp grounds are very well kept as well as the bath houses. You really need more than just the weekend to see and do everything available here. The recreation area is part of the Ocala National Forest. We hiked 12 miles total on...

We did the canoe trip at the end of September this year. Although we haven’t really had much experience and the route said not for beginners, we figured as we are both young and sporty that we would be fine. Let me tell you we were wrong! The route is definitely not for beginners; I can confirm that. The actual...

We camped in the camp ground with our small 19ft Camper van (no hook ups, but have hot showers) and loved that the campground was a short walk to the "day use area" or spring swimming area. We had the entire place to ourselves in mid October with about 12-15 people swimming in the spring over the course of our...

This spring is very small and it is not a place to snorkel. The swimming area is like a swimming pool and it has a wall around it. It is very deep and if you don't know how to swim don't go in the water without wearing a flooding of any kind. You will need it there. You can camp...

We were passing through from Daytona to Clearwater beach and decided to go a tiny bit out of our way to see this beautiful spring. It was a nice break to get out of the car after a long drive. We were here in August and did the one mile hike to fern hammock spring and back. Its a relatively...

We were camping near by and told about Juniper Springs. Decided to check it out and were really delighted. We took a picnic lunch with us. The concession store closes at 1pm but there are soda machines outside. Other than that, there is no food available after 1. This was on a weekday and I believe the store is open...

We were on kayaks going down the river. About an hour down we saw an alligator swimming around and looking towards us!! It was too narrow to pass!! Holy crap that was the craziest experience ever. I turned around immediately but my friends watched it until it submerged. Nope !! Will never forget staring down an alligator on that river...

Had so much fun here, camped for two nights with my family. Nice campground very spacious and bathrooms were very close to us! So many Raccoons visited us and stole our food as we didn't put everything away! My family and I kayaked on this run, I enjoyed it a lot however we are all beginners so it was definitely...

Listen to the information at the park about this trip. It is easy paddling but there are many trees across the river which requires almost laying flat in the canoe. However, beautiful scenery, lots of turtles, a couple of alligators. We camped at Alexander Springs. Very nice campground Deer flies in June however.
