This is the second time we stay at the Marriott at Hutchison Island. I do not recall the property being in such poor condition the first time we stayed there, but we will never return. We chose this property based on its location and marina. The property itself is in desperate need of a renovation. Popcorn ceilings, smelly dirty carpets... just to give you an idea. There were all sorts of smells emanating from the carpet as you walk down the hallways. We are loyal Marriott Bonvoy members and were never offered an upgrade at check-in. When we walked into our room, the bed appeared to be slept in. The corners of the fitted sheet were not pulled down and the bed was messy. I immediately went downstairs to the front desk to speak with the Manager. The Manager quickly issued new keys and asked "Would you like the same room or..?" Did she mean an upgrade? Why even ask? She issued the same exact room. Upon entering we noticed that the bed also appeared to be slept in - corners of fitted sheet not pulled down and sections of the comforter not tucked in. If Housekeeping is cutting corners on making a bed, then what else are they cutting corners on? The property, Management and Housekeeping at this property were all a disappointment. I recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The main building is overrun by birds making it impossible to relax on your balcony or enjoy the outdoor areas. The hallways are dark, small and musty. The room itself was decorated better and looked decent. Unfortunately, the way the room looked was deceiving. I woke up on my last day after a two night stay covered in BED BUG bites. I wish I would have read the review on Marriott’s site before I checked in, because another guest also complained about the bed bugs the day before I arrived. Marriott sent an independent party a week later to check my room out and found “no evidence of bed bugs” and offered me nothing but a sorry and hope you are feeling better message. As a platinum elite member that stays at a lot of Marriott properties, take my advice that this is not a Marriott quality property and find another property to stay at in the area. The reviews on Marriott’s site tells you all you need to know, and I only wish I went with my gut and booked elsewhere. Also, the main building, is not a beach front property. You have to take a van to the beach. On my last full day there, the van was out of service. I will say that the only positive thing about my experience was the wait staff at the pool restaurant/bar.…

We went there for mothers day and were not disappointed. Love the property and location. It is a large property that offers rides to different parts of the resort. It has several selections to select from main hotel rooms to villa by the ocean. The beach is a private beach which is nice. The food there is good grab a bite and drink by pool side. The staff is great and willing to help with all needs. It is also across the road from a nice smooth beach if oceans waves are not your thing.

Absolutely pathetic. I booked a room for my son and I for his birthday three weeks in advance. Paid for the entire stay ahead of time. We arrive at 7pm after driving 3 hours and told they do not have a room for us because they are doing renovations. Which was a lie. They overbooked and took our room away. I was told they tried to contact me earlier in the day which was also not true. Although, what difference wound that have made as we traveled 3 hours and no other hotels in the area had rooms. The manager was completely rude and and unhelpful. I will NEVER book s room with this hotel again.

STAY AWAY!!! They deserve ZERO stars. They are liars and the manager is a coward who hides behind her staff and refuses to call us back to this day. We booked a "partial ocean view room" but instead got a view of garbage and a dirt pile. The place should be condemned, seriously. Our room was dark and dingy and the lights went off and on at random. We asked to move rooms repeatedly but were told they didn't have any other rooms, which was a lie that we caught them in. How do we know? Because we had booked a second room for my mother whose room became flooded and uninhabitable. They immediately moved her into another room, which had an ocean view.

It started with booking an oceanfront room and arriving only to be given a pool front view. When I asked to be changed, they told me they were completely filled, but that they would do it the next day. It took till after 3 o’clock the next day to get into another room. Both rooms were advertised as having kitchens. There was one small Steaknife note cutting board or mixing bowls. Two pens in the entire place so really not a place to cook. The rug had more stains and I’d like to mention definitely could Use a renovation. The balcony or lanai were not screened in, so not able to leave them open during the night. The seal in the toilet must’ve been going because the toilet ran throughout the night for the entire week.. In two days it was well after three before someone came in to make up the room. And one day I called and was told that they had to turn over 164 rooms. I wanted to know what about the people that were staying there every night when did they get on the list? The breakfast wait staff was very accommodating. It was totally not worth the amount of money that I was charged per night.…

We stayed here for three nights The room had a nice view and was clean we ate a meal at the pool by the beach tower which was good and staff there was great The by doing chairs and umbrellas was great. When I checked in I showed the guy at the rest Kevin the better price I found and asked if they honored it per Marriott policy or if I should cancel and rebook. The difference was $350 a substantial amount. He said he would check and let me know. No one ever called We went about our trip. Upon check out the adjustment wasn’t reflected on the bill. The person at the desk was unpleasant, told me they had new employees who didn’t know the policies. I was very polite she was rude. I asked to speak with a manager. I was told the manager came in later she would call. I did not hear from her in 48 hours so I called and was told she was on vacation. I asked for her boss and was transferred to Hunter who said he was a manager. He sent the matter to accounting for a bill adjustment. I spoke with Lauren in accounting and asked for an updated bill so I could pay. She said she’d email it. I never revues it so I sent her an email. No response. The next few days they charged my card the unadjusted amount. I called and asked for Hunter. That was three days ago and I have yet to hear from him. This has been going on for a month. Marriott has a policy of matching best price plus 25 percent. I’m only asking for the discounted amount and I asked prior to check in. And was told to go ahead and check in. My next step is to try and find the manager of the entire hotel then I guess Marriott corporate. The resort is worn and needs upgrading aside from the desk staff was fine …

This place seems really great online but when you get there - not so much. While the place looks like a great golfing resort the rest of it isn't that up to snuff. It's really overpriced. We stayed on the beach at the Sandpiper building. The room was "ok" at least it was clean but it had some minor issues that became nuisances: 1) the AC was loud and it was too cold (temperature settings wouldn't work), 2) the toilet had hot water in the tank that heated the entire thing so the toilet seat would be warm and if you sat too long - would burn your bottom. We reported it to the staff. They were aware but nothing was done during our stay. 3) During torrential rain storms (there were a few while we were there) water seeped in through the ceiling onto the floor creating a puddle by the front door. Management was aware and checked around but could not find a source. 4) the soap shelf in the shower was not fixed to the wall properly so any soap, shampoo etc would roll right off. 5) the vending machine in the lobby area was sold out. Just when I had a craving for a soda! 6) the walls, doorways and structure looked like it needed some TLC. I could see signs of going "downhill" if issues are not addressed. But MOST OF ALL - the big issue was the fact that the resort DOES NOT ACCOMODATE guests at the pool and the beach. They do not have enough chairs for the beach. I was told that in order to get a chair you need to be on the beach by 10am. The pool area did not have enough seating as well. And when I complained to the management they didn't offer any solutions or even say "have a free drink on us for your inconvenience". And the beach wasn't the best: smelly seaweed lined the beach and was not attractive. Actually I didn't even want to stay on the beach after all. It would be nice if the hotel took care of it's beachfront by cleaning up the smelly seaweed - which I believe is the kind that causes rashes etc. In the end I had to take a shuttle to another part of the resort to use the pool. It just wasn't the best place and I'm surprised that Marriott doesn't do better. I think new management is needed. …

HOTEL IS NOT ON BEACH. Photos posted by the hotel are completely misleading. The beach is about a half mile away and it’s a crowded public beach. No private hotel access or parking. Hopefully other see this, so they don’t feel lied to like us. When we arrived the staff gave us a list of family events that were going on at the hotel. We got ready at 7 to head down to the pool to watch the movie they were playing and sat there for a while getting bit up by mosquitoes looking at a blank screen. No one thought to tell us they canceled it. Decided to wake up early to attend the sea animal painting at 8am only to sit around waiting until we finally had to ask to find out it was cancelled as well. Figured we would give it one more chance to attend the afternoon bracelet making and guess what happened? Sat around and finally had to ask. We were told they were going to build sandcastles, but someone had to go find sand. No Beach, Three canceled events with no notice and two extremely disappointed kids sulking around is a quick way to sour a vacation. Parents will know exactly what I’m talking about. We live about an hour south and we’re hoping for a nice easter stay cation and actually ended up stressed and disappointed. Soured on Marriott going forward.…

The location and amenities are perfect. But the hotel is worn and dated and needs some major updating and repair. We've been coming here for years and it's sad to see such a great location go downhill and continued neglect by the owners.
