So…. I was a little sceptic to book this place based on other reviews… .. And when I first pulled up I was worried.. parking is tight for sure… and not going to lie it’s out dated on decor.., but it’s super clean and love the office folks. So super friendly…. It’s a small hotel and I loved the feel about it. It’s in an area close enough to things to do but far enough away from being to busy!! We loved it so much we are booking 9 rooms for our family outing next summer…. It’s not the Hyatt.. but I rather be here!!!
The Arvilla is older but clean and well taken care of. The room we stayed in was newly painted. No maid service with Covid but staff will provide towels etc. location is perfect for the boardwalk between Treasure Island and Johns Pass. Beach is beautiful.
A group of friends have spent spring break at the Arvilla for some 20 years renting around 11 rooms during the 3rd week in March. Additional friends have stayed a few weeks before and after because of the accomodations (which have gone down), pool, friendliness and price. 2020 was different. We arrived March 11 and paid for around 7 weeks of rooms for us and our kids who were coming. Then March 16, the pandemic becomes "real" as the restaurants close except for carry out, the beach closes except for walking, thoughts of closing the FL/GA border were tossed out and the Arvilla closed the pool around March 27. Canadian friends left early because of the Canadian border closures. Our kids decided not to come for various covid related concerns. The Arvilla said they would contact us by May for 2021 reservations. We never heard. We understood that we may lose our deposits because of a less than 30 day notice of cancellation but thought the payment for the balance of the stay could be forwarded to 2021 (did not get any advanced room payment back). We were told that they would assist us in finding another motel. An 84 year old friend received a letter asking her not to come back. Our friends called to reserve rooms for 2021 and no return calls. So don't complain about noisy frigs, bad outlets, blinds that don't cover the windows or that a maid woke up a grandson who was sleeping. We are all back to Treasure Island, all in a different motel and look forward to a great spring break together.…
I could see how this would be sufficient for a family with kids who don't care what they stay in, but not for a couple. For $140 per night I didn't expect an outdated room that needs to be repainted (chipped paint and some sort of black stuff splattered on the wall above one bed, that we wiped off for the most part) and replace the 1980s style bedspreads. One bed wasn't firm at all, the other was decent. The blinds in the bedroom had a space in the middle where people could look into your room walking by. We had to hang up a towel from the top to block it. No hair dryer.
We stayed the week between Christmas and New Years and are so glad we did! Our unit 212, had a great ocean view. Our bedroom had 2 queen beds looking right out to the ocean beach, and pool. We had an additional sitting room with sofa, breakfast table, and kichenette. Our room was clean and neat with 2 flat screen TVs in each room. Our bathroom was clean and recently painted. We played shuffle board on the court and enjoyed the quiet ambiance. This is a classic Florida beach hotel, recently painted and well-maintained. It is obvious that the owner takes pride in this facility. Our hosts, Jason, Brenda, and Jim were very welcoming and made us feel right at home. Brenda provided sight seeing suggestions and restaurant tips. This motel provides a little "old Florida" in a modern package. If you want a quiet, well located motel on the beach, this is the place. I will be back!…
