This was advertised as the newest hotel in the area - not sure what "new" really meant since
the place seems to be undergoing renovations.

Rather than make bad feelings (as others staying at the hotel at the time made similar comments), I wouldn't mention it. If you have peaches, then it's a bonus.
We did enjoy our stay even without our peach.
