When we arrived at the hotel, we got to our room which was very basic but did have a nice modern bathroom, organised our bags and went down stairs to the Oscars Restaurant for our dinner. Things just went from bad to worse from here. The dinner room was silent, no music or anything it was like a mortuary! And...

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast at Durker Roods and my partner also enjoyed her Risotto. Oscars Restaurant is quite a large cold and old fashioned room and the white and grey decor did nothing for the ambience as well as the continuous playing of Coldplay during the meal. If you want a reasonably priced three course meal on a Sunday...

I booked this hotel for a Saturday evening. Earlier that afternoon the hotel rang me before I left my hometown to reassure me the restaurant would provide a meal up to 20.45 latest that evening, in the restaurant. We arrived in the restaurant at exactly 20.45 only to be told the chef had closed the kitchen and could not be...

Our family gathering of 13, including 2 children, visited here last Sunday for a celebratory meal in the large Function Room, due to Oscar's Restaurant being booked with another party. We assembled in the David Brown's bar/ lounge, which had comfortable tub chairs, for pre-lunch drinks followed by a three course meal in the Function Room. The bar had 4...

We visited and stayed here for a wedding in December ..... When we arrived we went to our room which was pleasant enough...... I went to sit on the bed and noticed hairs on the pillow cases , now I'm brunette and it was blonde so not mine .... I then pulled back the duvet to find what resembled pubic...

Reading some of the recent reviews we were somewhat worried going into our weekend at Durker Roods. However we had a great stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was really good - well cooked and tasty. The room was a good size and comfortable, if in need of some modernising. Breakfast was good - tea/coffee, toast,...

Stayed here with the Mrs for a night a night out in Holmfirth. The hotel is great. We got a deal which worked out at £58 for the night including breakfast which was amazing. The staff were brilliant. Very friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. The room was fairly standard but for...

I seldom write really terrible reviews - and I've written a quite a few fair one's - however, I will make an exception for this event (which was a family get-together for nearly 20 people). If you're thinking of going to the Durker Roods - don't. Almost without exception, every aspect of this Lunch (@ £30 pp) was dreadful.

One of the starters - the souffle was the worst I have ever tried, burnt outside and tasteless inside; one of the main courses was poor - too much bland risotto not enough topping. The fish was superb and my creme brulee was stunning though there was only half an inch of it. So they are easily capable they are...
