We had an fantastic time the staff was great, a great place to have a break away. Snorkeling was the best I have ever experienced. We had a great sea view from our room and our private pool was a feast. We can really recommend this lodge.

Great remote retreat. Service is excellent. Food outstanding and awesome rooms. Staff is very knowledgeable of the area and birdlife. Beach was very safe and unspoilt. Love the diving and turtle tours. Will definately return.

Beautiful setting on KZN's north coast. What a wonderful surprise. Unspoilt beaches, wonderfully appointed villas, fantastic service. The (free) sunset drive to Lake Sibaya was a treat, as was the turtle watching (between 2300 and 130am) under moon lit sky was like a dream. Awesome dive, revealing Black tip shark, turtles, crayfish and eels. This resorts initiative to train and...

Wonderful place - Walks on the beach, rest, snorkeling, visit of a zoulou village: various activities are proposed. Time has gone too quickly ! People must just be aware that the lodge is not accessible with 2x2 wheel cars

You are so right to point that out. Thank you. Yes it is highly recommended that you travel by 4x4. We had the most incredible 4 days at Thonga Beach Lodge. The location is incredibly beautiful, remote, and unspoiled. The rugged beach and dunes and the charming community of Mabibi made for a very memorable visit. We loved all of the activities - we did kayaking, snorkeling with the dolphins, diving, whale watching, sunset cocktails (sundowners) on the Lake, dune...

We went to Thonga having been at the Rhino Ridge and Kosi Forest and it was wonderful. The beach and sea were stunning, could walk for miles without seeing anyone or anything - totally unspoilt. Rooms were great, food wonderful, staff very friendly indeed. Cultural tour a definite, kayaking good, snorkelling not so great - once cancelled and 2nd time...

My husband & I visited Ash & team at Thonga from 1st Sept-4th with our family for what was once of the best experiences of our lives. There were 9 of us in total and the lodge catered for our every need. There were activities to suit us all - long beach walks, snorkelling, kyaking & diving for the boys...

That was a perfect stay in a beautiful location with best food I have so far experienced in a lodge in SA!!! Compliments! Even better knowing that the earnings support the local community. Next time I will definitely stay longer. Two nights are not enough.

Of course you cannot beat the location, absolutely fabulous, but:compared to other lodges we have been to the price is far to high. The staff is friendly and helpful, some of them very nice, but overall it is just professional and nothing special. You are considered as a paying guest and nothing else! The management couple was unfriendly and did not even say good morning or...

What a special part of the world. Surely this must be the most beautiful spot in South Africa. The accommodation, food, activities and location was world class. The staff were friendly and helpful. Well done to the Chefs who produced the most amazing meals.
