This 100+ yr old property perched on a hillside above the Brienzersee has been restored to all the elegance and ambiance deserved of such a property. We stayed in the Giessbach Suite which has a large terrace allowing a view of both the lake and the cascading waterfall adjacent to the hotel. There is a classic old cable car system...

There is a nostalgic magic that surrounds this hotel, true victorian charm. We spent hours on the terrace gazing at the view which is truly enchanting. I loved the hotel and its unique location - but I didn't love my room. I regret not paying the extra for a room with a view as (from when I glanced in )...

Dear Clarie B Thank you very much for your visit and your great and diversified feedback. Great you already found the reason to come back - to test one of our nice room overlooking the waterfalls or the Lake of Brienz. This is a historic grand-hotel, that is superbly well mantained at the level of a very good 4 stars property. PROPERTY: Spotless, no rust, with beautiful gardens and flowers. Unique facilities are the funicular (oldest in Europe) and the natural water pool, beside the old Kurhaus (an older building that recently got its wooden balconies and frames completely re-made). It...

We stayed here for 2 nights during a European tour. I picked this hotel based on positive Trip Advisor reviews and I can safely say that they are true. Overall Switzerland is generally expensive but we found this hotel offered good value for money. The setting is simply stunning. We had been in the Giessbach Grand hotel as a couple many years ago. We found it very romantic and special last time. It was our first time now to bring our 4-year-old with us and it was unexpectedly nice as well. We spent a day along the lake from Iseltwald to the Restaurant Giessbach. Sitting outside with the view towards the waterfalls is great. The foodselection is good and seasonal, pricing in the upper range and portions little too small. Service was good, they really try to help all the many guests to help. Worth a try.
