It may not be new, have the glim or glitter, but if you can appreciate old world charm, it is great. The owners have decorated with items that make the room comfy. The rooms are clean, staff is friendly and accommodating and the rates are very reasonable. Will recommend this motel to anyone who asks and I plan to visit again in the future.
Stayed here for 3 nights. Was pleasantly surprised. Rooms clean, well presented. Staff very friendly. We met the owner, management and housekeepers. All very friendly. I think if I was visiting in the summer with some friends, we would have a blast. Having a pool, grill/bbq and a good area to sit out is a bonus. Plenty of options for places to eat. From good southern sausage and biscuits to a French restaurant with a French chef. We are British and we think this is a great place to stay. Well priced. Thank you all
I needed a "rescue motel" when I fell ill during my travels. I found myself needing a place "out of nowhere." When I used my GPS, this motel showed up as the first hit. Fortunately when I called, a person picked up the phone right away. Always a good sign, and often not the case. When I arrived, the staff member dropped what she was doing, and signed me in. Very business-like, which I appreciated. Here are my impressions: When you walk into your room, the first thing you'll notice is the non-abundance of furniture. It's a little scarce. But at least the rooms are clean. (And there's plenty of floor space!) There's a small TV (good crisp picture, with remote that works), microwave, HVAC unit under the window (heat and fan work great) and a frig (clean, cold, and the freezer not iced over.) The sink is small but functional. I didn't use the shower, but the curtain is draped rather attractively, which I've never noticed anywhere else. There's also a fire ring out front, that's stocked with wood and ready for your lighting. There is also a pavilion out front as well. And an ice machine that was packed to the gills with ice. That's a rarity. Is there a table? No. But I always travel with a portable camping table and chair. (Google Helinox.) Is the area 100% safe and secure? Well, no place is. That's why I carry a $100 door jammer. Why should you stay here? Because for 40-something dollars, you get a clean roof over your head, with restaurants and a quaint, historical town a couple miles away. And it's right off the highway, and only 16 miles off I-20.…
The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because the man who runs the place was amazingly friendly and welcoming. For being an old roadside motel, it was clean. I was happy with that. What drove this place down so much was the other occupants. It was not the kind of place I would ever take kids to. I took my daughter there and felt super unsafe and uncomfortable. I spoke to the manager about it and while he assured me that it was safe, I just didn’t feel that way. I’ve never felt more unsafe in my life. Especially with it being just me and my 8 year old daughter. This place is probably ok for truckers driving through, but not a single woman with a kid.
It looks better than you would expect, but it’s still not clean. This is a small town with next to nothing in it. McDonald’s is considered fine dining. You will have to travel about 20 miles to get anything else.
