When we first got engaged we quickly started looking into wedding venues. Being from California, we’d been to many winery weddings. Although fun and beautiful, we felt like we wanted to do something different and decided it would be fun to get hitched at a backcountry lodge. We are really into rivers and had done a few trips in Idaho’s...

I just got back from an amazing wedding at Mackay Bar. From the second we arrived, every detail was perfect. Joni and Buck are amazing hosts and the entire staff works so hard to make sure everyone is happy. Our group of about 40 people spent the entire long weekend there and got to experience many of the best things...

After returning from a weekend at Mackay Bar, it's hard to find the right words to describe this adventure. Our family of 21 was embraced by the Dewey's the minute we arrived at Vinegar Creek. Even little Dax was offering to carry some bags to the boat. Having grown up in Idaho, I already appreciate our state's history; however, Buck...

In celebration of our 50th Wedding Anniversary, we took our five children, their spouses, and the grandchildren to Mackay Bar Guest Ranch. We were a party of 21 and our ages range from 74 to 3! The accommodations were tremendous and the enthusiasm of the owners and staff was infectious. What a wonderful way to see the beautiful wild and...

This experience is fantastic; It's hard to give more superlatives than the other great reviews...we flew in with Arnold's aviation, which was tremendous in of itself. It instantly set the spirit of the visit...we had a blast jet boating, fishing, horseback riding, swimming....we saw bighorn sheep, a mountain goat, bald eagles, osprey...we went up and down the river, had great...

We live a busy life in Denver, CO and travel a lot. We'd recently returned from New York city and took a cruise to Canada and still our kids (3 and 7) will tell you Mackay Bar was more fun. My husband and I loved to be so unplugged from our busy worlds, and surrounded by such beauty! Incredible! This...

What a place! From the location, to the scenery, to the people, to the food . . . everything was perfect! Enough good cannot be said about this amazing destination. The minute we stepped on board, we felt like family with all people involved in Mackay Bar. Each and every one of them added to the overall wonderful experience!

There's nothing like being greeted with smiling faces and the beauty of Mackay Bar after floating down the Salmon River for a week. It's the perfect way to transition back to the "real world" after losing yourself in the Idaho wilderness. Mackay Bar sets the bar for wilderness hospitality.

Our daughter and her fiancé wanted a small, destination wedding in Idaho. Although Mackay Bar was remote, it seemed like the prefect setting. For months, Joni Dewey, the co-owner of Mackay Bar, worked with me planning the menu, itinerary, answered ongoing questions from me and our curious guests, and accommodated every request. From the moment we were greeted at Vinegar...

My husband and I wanted a wedding where we could explore and adventure while giving our families time to connect away from the distraction of phones and email. My expectations for the weekend were blown out of the water (literally) in the first ten minutes on the jet boat ride. I don't think we stopped smiling for 3 days. I...
