Beautiful place, has everything you need, great location with so much food options nearby. The front desk stuff is very welcoming and friendly, the room was very clean. So much has changed since the last time I stayed, I am very satisfied this time and so glad I stayed there.
I was spending 24 hours in the city and just wanted a decent, up-to-date, nice place to stay in a buzzy location, and the Emily is all of that. Really friendly welcome from staff (who gave me some good recommendations for dinner and drinks). Spotless crisp design (it was formerly the Ace Hotel, so of course). Comfy bed, super quiet, nice toiletries. Perfect for a city break or a business trip.
I loved the Emily! It's in a great section of town. The rooms are good and the sheets wonderful. They have everything you want for business or leisure travel. Good restaurants AND they give a discount to guests -- something every hotel should do. I was booked here by a client, but now look forward to staying here again.
First the good: The location is amazing, with easy access, excellent restaurants and bars nearby, the Loop only 10 minutes away by L train. The hotel Ground Floor is first rate, with a restaurant/bar and outdoor patio with fire pits. The front desk staff was helpful and courteous. Our room was clean and very quiet. Now the bad: The plywood walls in the elevator were the first indication of the design aesthetic of the upper floors. But when the elevator doors opened, the corridors were downright frightening; somewhere between orphanage and insane asylum. (See photo.) It took a while to figure out what they were trying to achieve, but the first impression was "cheap". The stains on the light squares of the hallway carpet didn't help. The rooms were better, but not much. Ours had what appeared to be metal bed frames screwed to the wall across from the bed and more of the cheap looking clear coated plywood used for the desk and trim. The bed was spare but comfortable. The toilet/shower room was spare and dark, but not in a good way. It was mostly painted drywall and just seemed cheap. Even the lighting was as cheap as could be. In summary we decided we would stay there again for all of the "good" reasons. They were really good. If you can get past the aesthetics of the halls and the rooms, the hotel is quiet and comfortable - even hip on the Ground Floor. And the neighborhood feels like Greenwich Village with lots of low buildings allowing the sun to actually hit the street - rare in downtown Chicago.…
Stayed the recent weekend for three nights for a family wedding. We found the rooms comfortable and spacious. Every employee we encountered was kind and helpful. The lobby area was perfect to visit with other guest and family or enjoy something from the coffee shop. The location was close to a bunch of restaurants and shops as well as a short walk to the train. We enjoyed brunch at FORA and cocktails at SELVA.
We stayed there for the weekend, friends blocked rooms for people attending their wedding. The room was comfortable. Excellent valet service unloaded our car and brought it to our room. They did the same on the day we checked out. We are morning coffee drinkers & had brought our single-serve Keurig & K-cups. Good thing we did, a pot to heat water for tea or STEEP a bag of coffee. They have a coffee bar in the mornings, for a price. We did eat in the restaurant at the bar, a chicken burger & fries. Very good. The wedding party had a 'meet and greet' Sat. night in the SELVA room. It was classy & great fun! The wedding was Sunday in another venue. I recommend The EMILY HOTEL. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Large, clean rooms with great amenities, and super accesssible by the El. The minibar offerings were hard to say no to! And Leo at the front desk was amazingly helpful and accommodating. Will be back!
Everything was clean, well-cared for, well appointed. The staff was both friendly and helpful. Great experience, and at a very reasonable price. (Because TripAdvisor mandates at least 200 characters, I've added this sentence 😊)
The Emily is a beautiful hotel in a great location! My family and I got 3 King rooms (3 couples in total) and the rate for each room was lower than any other hotel in the City. With a coffee shop and a swanky rooftop bar and restaurant in the hotel, we had everything we needed right there! Rooms were nicely decorated with comfortable beds and newly updated bathroom amenities. Hospitality was very attentive to our needs by quickly responding to our needs for extra towels and pillows making our trip more enjoyable overall. The valet was a very convenient option while parking in the city. Highly Recommended!!
The room was kept in great order and everything was clean. I would stay here again. Leo at the front desk was incredibly helpful and personable sorting out the buisness credit card on file. The location is great as well.
