We checked in for the night before the Blackhawks Stanley Cup Parade. We had to move due to a strong sewer smell in the room. Once moved we found our room to be a room. This is not a fireworks exploding with bands playing hotel. It is old and in fact prides itself as being historic. We are not ones...

We booked a $400 two bedroom room at this hotel. A/C did not work and the units put out a smell like vomit. Were given a $75 refund, but will absolutely never go back. The maintenance guy told us that they are not allowed to do any proactive maintenance on their antiquated system, and just respond to complaints from guests,...

We stayed in room 659 which was a King room in a corner of the building which benefited from an extra fire door separating you from the hallway so it was very quiet. It looked over the L-train but it doesn't run all night so didn't bother us at all. Its true that some areas of this hotel may be...

Two teenage granddaughters and I vacationed in Chicago June 22 through June 25. We stayed at the Congress-An historic hotel, originally built in 1893, with additions added in the early part of the twentieth century. It shows its age, but the lobby and check in area on the main floor seem well kept. Our room in the south tower was...

This is a very old hotel, and the 2 times I had been there I got old rooms. Nevertheless they are in ok shape and is one of the less expensive and better located hotels in downtown Chicago. Stuff is ok, sometime they take a lot of time to give you what you need. in summary good location and decent...

It's big and old and worn out but you can't beat the price and location. The room we had was a nice size and glorious view of the other rooms in the south tower. I never trust or believe that the linens, furniture, appliances, bathrooms, anything is as clean as it looks so I won't even comment on that beyond...

The hotel has kept the old furnishings but is modernized. Located so you can walk to all the major sites. The view from room 780 is fabulous. We were looking out our window at the Buckingham Fountain and Lake Michigan. Highly recommend.

In Chicago for work for 5 nights and it was one of the most frustrating hotel experiences ever. To start there is an annoying odor of aged, old, which means slightly moldy, all around. Beds are cheap, uncomfortable, and you can hear what happens in rooms and and hallways around you, especially drunk people, and there seem to be a...

I guess this deserves one star and that's only because of the location. This place does not have charm - it's disgusting. The carpet, the drapes, the lamps.. Everything is horrible. This place is beyond creepy and in desperate need of upgrades. The bathroom is tiny, no counter space or room to even turn around. I was here for work...

Now we were in Chicago for 5 days and we stayed at the Congress. Granted it could do with a little TLC but to be honest we only use hotel rooms to sleep. The staff here are great. Steve the doorman is brilliant, the room which we had overlooked the parks we couldn't ask for anything more. Like I said...
