I have been staying at the Magnuson Hotel for an extended stay. It is very affordable and the new management is trying to upgrade the rooms. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are good, especially given the price.

I called ahead and asked for a fridge in the room and a king or queen size bed. Instead when I checked in I had two twin size beds and no fridge. When I complained to the front desk they said that was all they had available. However, the place didn't seem busy at all. The room was so dirty!...

Management response:

Dear Tanya, I don't know why you posting a fake review. First of all we do not have any twin beds in our property. We have only two queen or 1 king bed in room. Also the new management took over the property in January 2017 and you wring your past experience after almost a year. I like you to...

Keep looking. Don't be fooled by the price, it isn't worth it. The place smells terrible, like mold and cigarettes. To cover this up there were Glade Plug-ins everywhere, which was almost as bad as the mold smell. The rooms are awful. The curtains are falling off the tracks, there are no screens on the windows, so if you do...

Management response:

HI Blaver29, Sorry for your past experience but now the property is under new management and we are improving. Come visit us and you will not be disappointed. Thanks

Older hotel in Dixon. Tired, with numerous issues. New manager working on things. Room had evidence of roof leak with black mold on bath ceiling, lime accumulation on tub spout, missing smoke detector, dated tv and non working remote, bath exhaust fan as loud as an airplane and other minor things. There was a note requesting a tip for housekeeping that...

I lived 1/4 mile from this Hotel, then called the Reagan Hotel, next to the once great Brandywine Inn, a large, full service restaurant now reduced to wedding receptions. I lived here from the late 70's to 2001. I moved 8 hours west but still have family in area nursing homes. The Reagan Hotel had a large pool, dining room,...

I almost gave the Magnuson Hotel 4 stars, but they lose one for false advertising: their website states they have a laundry guest center, which is part of the reason I chose this hotel. They did not have a laundry guest center or even offer laundry service. I stayed here for a week during a business trip. Most everything was...

We were desperate and needed a place to stay. There are few other options. We were greeted by someone in pajama pants and this was at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. The first room spelled so bad we had to open the window. We asked to move to the second floor. This room was a bit better, but that is...

First- the people who work at the hotel are wonderful! They are friendly, helpful and cheerful and they are the best thing about this hotel. The hotel is clean but tired. Much work is needed--carpeting is stained, draperies are falling off the windows and halls smell musty. This is not a hotel I would recommend at this point.

If searching for a reasonable place to stay when in Dixon, Sterling Illinois area check out the Magnuson. Rates for a week stay are ridiculously low!!!! Rooms are clean and service is friendly. Downsides of staying are, no one is ever at front desk when you need them. Phone system was down the whole time I was there, which was...
