I was coming from Vermont to Minnesota and they cancelled my flight to Fargo so stuck in Chicago. I got a taxi and the driver was an older lady from Ecuador and she was fantastic and drove to 7 motels to find me the best and cheapest and she went to the desk and talked in Spanish to help me. (Let me know if you wish here name. Lourdes at RSVP transportation) We settled on the Motel 6 in Elk Grove and the total rate was less than $70. So a great bargain. Staff there was outstanding and the room surer clean. The bed most comfortable and while very basic, it suited my needs perfect for a good nights sleep. I had Chinese takeaway delivered from China Wok II and it was of great value an oh so good. Some of the best Chinese food I have had in along time. So put aside any ill thoughts about Motel 6 and this was one of the best ever I have stayed in. My hats off to a wonderful staff and made my unplanned stay in Chicago all the better. Thank you. Jim at Maplelag in Minnesota…
Great location, clean and neat, but appallingly thin walls. I was a late check-in and an early check-out, meaning I needed to be able to hear the alarm, which meant I couldn't sleep with earplugs. The walls were useless - I could hear everything going on in the room next to me (thank goodness they didn't get up to any hanky-panky!) and the fact that the floors were linoleum and there were no soft furnishings made it even louder. And they were not loud people! But I had to go and knock on their door twice in the night to remind them I could hear everything. So in short, not a restful night's sleep. However, getting there and back from O'Hare is really easy: Just take the air train to the rental car yard (i.e. the end of the line), walk for about 1/4 mile to the corner of Mannheim/W. Higgins (the stop is on the far side of the road and the intersection) and catch the 223 Pace Bus which costs only $2.25! Bus stops on other side of the road from the Motel 6 and the return stop is right outside the motel. Bus drivers are very friendly and helpful too :) Sure beats $50-$60 cab fare!…
Stayed here on route to & from OHare Airport. Easy journey by Uber. 15 mins. Hotel is clean and quiet. Only provides the basics but all that’s needed after a long flight.Check in / front desk efficient and accommodating.Very good value even when adding the taxi fare. Many airport hotels boast transfer busses that don’t turn up so quicker and cheaper than a closer hotel.
After a long fight I was in no mood to drive home so I stayed here. They provide only the basics to your stay. That is a place to park and a place to sleep. I couldn't have had television on the list because mine did not work. Overall a no thrill experience.
This was a colossal step up from my last Motel 6 experience where the door knob fell off and trapped us inside (different city, different owner). First of all, despite the name, this one is actually a hotel, not a motel...no going outside to get to your room. The room was clean. The wood laminate floors were far less intimidating than normal budget hotel carpeting where you have to guess whether it's safe to take your shoes off. The wi-fi was adequate for streaming (took a minute to get going, but no buffering). The beds were comfortable, and it was surprisingly quiet for a family hotel near full capacity. Since we got in late and only stayed one night, I didn't engage much with the staff, but the young man at the front desk was very professional and efficient, considering how busy they were. Cons: You'll definitely want to bring a well-stocked toiletry bag, because the only complimentary toiletry provided was a cheap bar of soap (par for the course for budget hotels). No free breakfast, not even continental (again, par for the course). Also, I've never had to have both me AND my guest show ID to check in, even though the reservation was in my name only, but whatever. The price was a bit steep for a budget hotel, but for some reason, ALL the Chicago hotel rates were outrageous, thus my willingness to end my 20 yr long Motel 6 boycott. This was one was the cheapest hotel with decent ratings. My room through Booking.com was $107 after taxes. The person checking in line ahead of me with no reservation paid $200 for the exact same room! At the end of the day, I got what I was looking for...a clean, affordable place to lay my head. I would stay again...not for a vacation...but I would stay again.…
Pros: The room has decent space. The bed is acceptable (no bedbugs). The AC is working fine. Price is decent. Free parking. Cons: Bathroom is small. Coffee-flavoured water only (no food). Room has no view and trucks are parked outside. A little bit driving distance to the airport.
I'm not much for writing reviews but I had to express my appreciation for such a great front desk staff (Kev and Stella). This is my second visit and both experiences were stellar in comparison to other area hotels. It's a very clean facility and the vibe is pretty positive.
Neat and clean simple hotel, at very affordable price. Friendly staff too. O’Hara airport very close, international terminal is 10/12 minutes away. Will recommend others to stay here. Room furniture and fixtures are simple but modern and nice.
We arrived around midnight and check in was quick and easy. We just needed a place to rest for the night and this was the perfect spot. It was in a great location close to the city, and the room was clean. Definitely recommend.
All the girls Olga, the manager Magali, Tiffany, Dulce, and Estela are all wonderful, helpful, and always sweet. They have always gone out of their way to help me and always promote a very positive vibe. This is also the cleanest motel 6 I've ever been to.
