Hello friends! As I am writing this caption, Penny (my puppy) is sleeping next to me exhausted from her exciting day! Our overnight (Thursday and Friday) at Eagle Ridge Resort was nothing but pawfection! The team there is lovely and their amenities are never ending!! Below are some dog friendly MUSTS when staying at Eagle Ridge: ✨ The marina, pack a doggie life jacket and make sure to take your pet on a paddle boat around Lake Galena! You can also rent a pontoon with a driver to do some extra sight seeing! ✨Take your pup hiking!! They have over 22 miles of trails! So pack some tennis shoes! ✨Visit Thunderbay Falls! The lake is primarily spring-fed and has a spillway at one end creating a beautiful 40-foot waterfall. ✨Go golfing! Eagle Ridge has four courses, offering 63-holes of stunning and scenic golf! We played the South Course, Penny got lots of treats and pets from all the workers and players! ✨Eating, haha! We recommend the highlands restaurant & lounge 289! Their view of the land was incredible and all of our meals were delicious! If you love crab cakes, this is your place to get the best ones! Some other things that Eagle Ridge offers for humans are, hot air balloon rides, foot golf, swimming, spa, horse back riding and they have a shuttle to take you downtown shopping! We stayed in Walnut Hill Townhomes (9) it was 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath, kitchen and two outdoor seating areas with a beautiful view! Everywhere we went Penny got a treats! Check in, golfing and even at the country store where we got coffee at! If you are looking for a pet friendly vacation, Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa is your destination! Xoxo, Lauren & Penny 🤍…
I have been playing Eagle Ridge golf courses since they opened and my visit to the South Course on the 29th of August was the worst ever. The course is in TERRIBLE shape. Greens are slow as all get out - probably haven't been mowed in nearly a week. Both the fairways and rough are also overgrown. For a course that touts itself as a premium resort, it is a joke. I live in Galena and can GUARANTEE that every other course in Jo Daviess county is in better shape than Eagle Ridge. Don't bother.
I have stayed at many Resort and Spa facilities and was very disappointed with the condition of the room in the main lodge. The AC vent was leaking onto the dresser and the carpet which I am sure was the cause for the musty smell in the room. The bed lamp and the wall light were tied to the same switch so you had to get out of bed to turn the lights off. The shower/tub was in major decline and moldy. We did love our experience with the spa staff. Christy, massage therapist, was fabulous! Marshall at the boat dock was very helpful! I feel that pricing should be more like $150to $200 per room rather than $329. Just my opinion.
Wow, to say this place has went to crap is an understatement. Been coming for 12 years, and it just gets worse and more outdated every year. Or condo was filthy, showers barely work, carpet stained, bugs everywhere. And then the golf course....the General is in such bad condition it's heartbreaking. We are going elsewhere next year. No pride in Galena.
Haven't been to Eagle Ridge in about 10 years, and it used to be THE place to stay in Galena. High end prices for high end resort. Stayed there this month and was really disappointed. Water stains on walls. Carpeting is old and in need of replacement. Windows in house we rented were broken. Trash wasn't emptied in three days. But they still charge high end prices for a mediocre experience. If I wanted mediocre, there are lots of other, cheaper options. Needs a facelift badly. Front desk folks were nice, but that was the only high point.
