The Steamboat House is tranquil and absolutely lovely. The house is filled with beautiful antiques, and is currently adorned with decorations for fall and Halloween. We were pampered with delicious breakfasts (served in the formal dining room), wine and cheese social hour, and evening beverages with sweet treats. Who could ask for more? The experience was immersive and a perfect way to spend our wedding anniversary. Carol, and her daughter Katie, should be crowned the 'Breakfast Queens of Galena! Wish I had asked Carol for her recipe for cheese puffs - or maybe for a couple more of them for snacking! We also appreciated having a nice parking lot for our vehicle, versus other properties with limited parking on the street. Yes, it was definitely a million miles from Monday!

We had a great time staying at this lovely B&B. It's a beautifully restored 19th century mansion in a quiet neighborhood, but it's just a short walking distance away from downtown Galena. Carol is a wonderful, friendly host. In addition to a delicious breakfast, there's wine and cheese at 5pm and warm cookies at 8:30pm. It's a pleasure to spend time at the home, but the historic sights of Galena are just steps away-so sightseeing is super easy. We loved every minute of our stay and look forward to a return visit!

Favorite Bed and Breakfast we have ever stayed in. Decorated with exquisite detail. Several large rooms to play pool, piano, board games, read magazines and books. The owner is so sweet and hospitable . She had a wine and cheese hour, warm cookies and hot chocolate in the evenings, gourmet home cooked breakfast. Bedrooms are very large and comfortable. Beautiful gardens. Would definitely stay here again.

We've never stayed at a B&B before, and this was a TRUE DELIGHT! It was like stepping back in time to the Victorian era. The house is from late 1800's. It is very clean, cozy, attractive and decorated like the era. Carol (Proprietor) is a kind woman and runs a very nice place. There's so much décor to look at in so many public rooms. There are 5 guest rooms. We stayed in the "Bess" with out own balcony. We had a private bath - very modern/efficient. There was "wine/cheese" time at 6, cookies/coffee/tea at 8 PM, and breakfast at 9 in formal dining room. All was delicious and inviting. We loved the billiard room. Relaxing to sit on front porch or on our balcony. I would definitely recommend this to someone who wants to get away from hustle and bustle or city life and from busy hotel. It was relaxing and elegant. Wish someone had played piano as would've been lovely to listen to and even have a sing-a-long. Love all the rabbits/eggs interspersed in the decor. Can't say enough how lovely this B&B is and how nice everything was!

We loved our trip to Galena and especially our stay at the Steamboat House. Carol and Katie made our stay so pleasant and comfortable. The mansion has a wonderful history and is located perfectly for exploring Galena. It is filled with charming artifacts and furniture along with modern conveniences. Great breakfasts! (Ask Carol to make cheese puffs.) Thanks, ladies!
