Pool area is great for families. Rooms are clean and ample. The real shining star is the staff at this location are amazing! They are alway so friendly and helpful. This is the second time my family of 7 has stayed at this hotel and we have had a great experience. The location is only 45min from the city and it’s seems to be a very safe neighborhood.
Upon arriving the desk clerk asked if we wanted an upgrade for $50. I had already reserved a superior king room for five nights due to a family emergency, but agreed to the upgrade. To my dismay, the room did not even look anything like the picture of the room I reserved, and it was small with a tiny bathroom and no microwave. It overlooked the rooftop below. I have stayed here twice before, but it was several years ago and it has gone downhill since then. They are still not providing housekeeping due to Covid, so we had to request anything we needed from the front desk. Breakfast was not served on Saturday or Sunday. The staff was great but the room was not. On a positive note, the restaurant and bar are fabulous!
I was afraid to stay here after reading a recent review. I will say this is Glen Ellyn, there are no prostitution rings and seedy sorts (that should have tipped me off that the bade review was bogus). This is a Crowne Plaza property, it may not be the newest but it was very clean, wonderful kind staff.
This place should be condemned. Not only is everything about the property outdated and lacking upkeep, but also there is a lack of integrity amongst the staff. There are clear indications of prostitution being run out of this hotel, including used condoms in the parking lot, and yet the staff and "security guards" do nothing. Perhaps they're getting a cut of the action to look the other way? Drug addicts with bandaids all over their arms to cover open sores are allowed to hang out in the lobby because they're "a regular" and are "harmless". This was like I was on some sort of hidden camera show to see how much I could tolerate. Anyone who stays here is putting their safety at risk and asking for a potential robbery.
Hello I recently stayed at Crown Plaza in Lombard/Downers Grove I will tell you have been to many hotels ,due to selling my house so fast we suddenly needed a place to stay. I did the online survey in my email but that wasnt enough. I need to give recognition to the whole staff at Crowne Point Lombard/Downers Grove Illinois. They all went above and beyond to help me during my stay. They are some of the best people . Kind , helpful and friendly. Due the the sale of my home so fast . All friends & family us congratulated us, which I appreciated but it wasnt an easy adjustment we didnt have a back up plan. Suddenly happiness because stressful. From the start Dee let me check in early she was very pleasant. We were tired & hungry from the move . Just wanted a nap and food. Got in room early ( thank you Dee). Took a nap went down to restaurant for dinner. There was a wait (ugh were so so hungry and still tired) Carly saw us drained she said hang on let me help you squeezed us in . What a sweetheart! The manager Yosef was always pleasant kind. Leaving I had a car full of items needed to check out late Carly allowed me to do so God bless her. I finally packed all my stuff Chris saw how tired I was offered me a sandwich . (Thank you Kris) I can not say enough about this staff they go above and beyond I had to write a long review. Hope I spelled their names right I always try to read name tags and recognize good service. Bravo staff at Crown Plaza lombard Sincerely Roxanne Mejias…
We were forced to stay here for a stay and play tournament. Upon arrival we were told our reservation wasn’t until the next day. I ended up having to show the front desk my email confirmation on the dates to get our room. Then upon getting to the room we noticed the room refrigerator didn’t work and it was roughly 85 degrees in our room. I called down to the front desk and was told there were no other rooms available and that they knew there was an issue with the heat and air but couldn’t do anything about it and do open the window…. In March… in 15 degree weather if I wanted my room cooler. No one ever even came to look at our fridge and the front desk just shrugged their shoulders when we asked if someone could fix it. The next morning my husband went down to get our breakfast bags, despite being promised 4 full breakfasts per room per night through the tournament company contract, we were told the restaurant was closed and they would only provide 2 bags per room. They also tried to check us out the next day and turned off our keys because whoever changed our reservation the night before also cancelled the rest of our stay. The rooms are tiny, a family of 4 can barely fit. The bathrooms are dirty and tiny. Don’t expect housekeeping, you have to ask at the front desk for even trash to be emptied. We will be sharing our thoughts on this property with the tournament company as well so maybe they stop putting families here.…
Don’t take your hockey team to this dated, dingy hotel. Management and the inept security guard yell at you for being in hallways, having a can of beer at the pool, doing team building exercises in a conference room that was reserved for you. The pool doesn’t have enough chairs. There is no breakfast and the tvs are itty bitty in the rooms, which is tragic because that’s where management wants to confine you.
Putting a king bed in a small room with a small couch is hardly a suite. Have had more room in Motel 6 and LaQuinta. No microwave in room and no coffee pods at front desk. Did have a safe which most people don't need. Room appeared to be clean and staff was friendly. Not a place to stay if you really want a suite and space.
Don’t believe the photos! This hotel is Dingy & Tired. We chose it because reviews were decent and the pool. The pool is big as pictured and Covid restrictions are posted(you must reserve a time to swim) BUT not followed by anyone. We counted 30 people in the pool!! And decided not to use it at all. WORSE than that was the lack of any insulation in the walls! We could hear conversations, doors, the ice machine, all well into the night. And then again beginning at 5am!! Room was dingy and tired. We had a King with Parlor. And the AC kept the room at about 78-80. Looked like a thermostat from the 70s. This was the worst hotel I’ve stayed at since college, when we’d stay at cheap motels because that’s all we could afford! So disappointing! And where was the included breakfast!?! If discontinued during Covid then why were we charged for it? And why was it mentioned in reservations but at no other time!?! Avoid this hotel at all costs. Regardless of other positive reviews!…
I was coming through town to meet family. the hotel is just dated and tired.bathroom was tiny. The thermostat is not even digital. It has a good location and is clean . But it is nothing special . It's mediocre to the nth degree . Carpets in the hallways need to be replaced. No breakfast. I think I just went on reviews and this was just good enough. This seems to be a pattern with Crowne Plaza hotels that I have stayed in. If you just want a place to flop, its okay. I think you can do better.
