Wasn't so amazing for us. Standard fare pub food, really. Polite staff, rushed off their feet. Worth popping in if you're hungry and passing, but not a destination as such. Pub is very characterful with a good, busy atmosphere. Avoid the 'Death by Chocolate' ice...More
We had such a great time on our last visit we decided to return bringing our 2adult children - aged 21 and 24. Due to the popularity of the Inn I was lucky to book one of the family rooms. The room was cosy but...More
We had a delicious meal here. The Sunday roast was enormous, the meat tender, the roast potatoes were crispy and the vegetables perfectly cooked. The children's fish and chips were the perfect size for a hungry 10 year old. The pub has a very relaxed...More
Popped in today for a bite to eat before we headed home after a lovely few days in Lake District. We were not disappointed. The food was served quickly and was delicious. Great views too and ample parking.
We spent two nights here (room 12) with our 11 year old boy and 4 year old jack Russell. It's ace, and we live coming here.
From the welcoming fire to dry us off from the rain, yes even in summer, the great bar, superb...More

Lots to do, especially if they like the outdoors and walking. The hotel is an ideal base for walking to get the ferry on Windermere, we walked down to the ferry crossing and it took us about 20 mins. Windermere has lots of shops, cafes and places to explore.
The hotel is also very close to Beatrix Potters house which is a nice visitor attraction. Hawkshead village is 10/15 mins away by car.
Going slightly further afield, Consiton Water is about 20 mins away by car and you can find a nice little village with pubs and shops and Ruskins house.
We went to Tarn Hows which is about 25 mins away and had a lovely walk in the beautiful surroundings and then carried on to Grasmere.
It really is an ideal base but secluded enough to feel relaxed and 'away from it all'.
Hope that helps!
dog are only mentioned because it can be difficult getting a dog friendly hotel,we didn't take the dog and there were only two very well behaved dogs there hen we stayed.
Dogs apart cuckoo brow is a fabulous place to stay
