Me and my wife thought we would try here due to its good reviews, and I have to say it didn't disappoint. I would definitely recommend the whitebait starter, I had never tried it before and was a little daunting, but they was very nice....More
We have stayed here a couple of time. Always great rooms, service and food. This time the staff were extra helpful to our needs.. Very happy with attitude. This place is a hidden treasure, so close to Windermere but without the crowds.
Stayed at this lovely little gem again for the 2nd time. I felt this time the staff seemed more pleasant and welcoming, food fantastic as always with a good choice leaving you full to the brim! We don't have dogs however this is a great...More

Lots to do, especially if they like the outdoors and walking. The hotel is an ideal base for walking to get the ferry on Windermere, we walked down to the ferry crossing and it took us about 20 mins. Windermere has lots of shops, cafes and places to explore.
The hotel is also very close to Beatrix Potters house which is a nice visitor attraction. Hawkshead village is 10/15 mins away by car.
Going slightly further afield, Consiton Water is about 20 mins away by car and you can find a nice little village with pubs and shops and Ruskins house.
We went to Tarn Hows which is about 25 mins away and had a lovely walk in the beautiful surroundings and then carried on to Grasmere.
It really is an ideal base but secluded enough to feel relaxed and 'away from it all'.
Hope that helps!
dog are only mentioned because it can be difficult getting a dog friendly hotel,we didn't take the dog and there were only two very well behaved dogs there hen we stayed.
Dogs apart cuckoo brow is a fabulous place to stay
