I always request the "newer" wing. Furniture is rustic looking and comfortable. Been coming here for years and years. This is the first time I stayed on the first floor and it was very nice and quiet. Rooms have plenty of room. Ate a dinner and breakfast at the lodge. Dinner was great, beakfast, had a skillet, was too salty...

We hoped to see some bald eagles from the lookout surrounding the Lodge but no luck today! We settled for a very nice lunch in the main dining room. Nothing fancy but the food was very good, even though it took a while to get it. We were there on Presidents Day and they were packed so I give them...

Loved the whole experience! Grounds and surrounding area are gorgeous! We visited in January which is Bald Eagle Season. The river wasn't frozen so we missed the big groups congregating at the river, but we saw 4 of them flying or perching as we went on our hikes. There is no shortage of beautiful trails to walk, the lodge was...

The Starved Rock Lodge is a wonderful get-a-way stop for families or couples. There is no match for it's amazing views and wonderful woodwork throughout the lodge. Huge fireplaces adorn the main hall and dining area, giving the rustic feel while offering awe inspiring views of the surrounding area. The rooms are a little dated, but nicely maintained. You have...

On our way across central Illinois we thought we'd stop by to see if the eagles were flying - nah - too windy. But we did stop into the bar and had a drink - very friendly staff, fun drinks, nice atmosphere.

A birthday tradition has been to go to Starved Rock State Park to look for the Eagles that fish on the Illinois River. Last year we added to the tradition by staying in a lodge room, so this year we decided to try a room in the hotel. We had a casual dinner in the restaurant-bar. The bartender was the...

Happy Birthday and thanks so much for spending your special occasion with us. So glad you got to see some Eagles, it has been touch and go since the weather has been so warm. Early on after the first snow there were over 30. I just wanted to clarify that not everyone gets a $15 breakfast, you must have been...

My husband and I met friends at Starved Rock Lodge for lunch. The dining room was very pretty and there was a roaring fire! My husband had the Walleye which he really enjoyed. I chose the Turkey BLT. It was loaded with turkey and bacon. It came with homemade chips. I was very pleased! Our friends had a Ruben and...

I recently stayed here with my husband and another couple, we have been here several times. They have a great pool area with a hot tub and sauna. A café to grab a coffee, snack homemade fudge and ice cream. A bar which serves pretty good food and a dining room. This is a great place to come to unwind...

Thanks so much for your review, you have given a lot of good advice. The Lodge wing rooms are more rustic and can be a bit noisy (we do supply ear plugs). These rooms were originally built in the 30's and are on the National Register so we are not allowed to make any changes to them. The hotel wing...

Attending a wedding here and a few of us wanted to book rooms for the night that we will be there. They have some policy where they refuse to let you book less than 2 nights, even if it's for an event they are hosting. We tried our best to explain the situation, but they would not budge and did...

We arrived to temperatures in the negative, we asked for the closest pet friendly cabin which was about 2 blocks from the parking lot, it also was very cold to walk the the Lodge which was where the reception and wedding was being held. On Saturday we had -2 degrees for some outdoor wedding pictures taken. My granddaughter (the bride)...

Sorry to hear that the brunch did not meet your expectations. I will certainly bring this to the attention of the chef. Hope the wedding went well and the your dog enjoyed his/her visit as well.
