We love to stay in a sunset cabin because of the wood burning fireplace. The bed is always comfortable and the room is clean. It is small and no frills, but the fireplace makes it very cozy. Plus the cabins are close to the pool and hot tub. The dining room in the lodge is always decorated beautifully for christmas...

We stayed at Starved Rock Lodge in room 211 on Dec. 16th and 17th and had a fantastic trip! Everyone was so friendly including Jasmine at check in, Chris at the bar, our waitress (for two nights) Ember, and our bartender the second night, Ben, who made fantastic mojitos and Long Island ice teas :) We loved hiking and the...

We have been to the park several times as we live only about an hour and a half drive from Utica. But we needed a little weekend get away so we came for a weekend in November. We have been lucky with nice weather this fall and the weekend we were there it was beautiful. The leaves were mostly gone...

Thank you so much for your review, we are happy you enjoyed your visit. And yes winter is amazing. When there is snow it is quiet, beautiful and a little bit unreal. The waterfalls are frozen, the trails are empty and the Eagles are a site to see. Over the next few months we will be updating our rooms and...

I'll start my review by saying it is based upon staying at the Lodge for an offsite meeting my client was having. It turned out to be a very early blast of winter cold, ice and snow and I even missed my first night at the hotel. So I'm sure a reviewer there to enjoy the surrounding hiking and park...

We spent two nights get-a-way at the Lodge at the beginning of October and had a wonderful stay. We hiked the park, relaxed in the Lodge had excellent food. It isn't fancy shmancy but clean, nicely appointed and friendly staff. We live in the Chicago area so it's not that far, room rates are fair. We were hoping to get...

Fall was so unpredictable this year, frankly I didn't know if there would be any color at all since we went through a flood and a drought all in the same summer but we did finally get color around the middle of October and the nice weather stuck with us for a while. Sorry you missed it but hoping you...

If you like walking beautiful trails and enjoy the outdoors, you will love this Lodge! I have stayed here many times over the years (I used to rent one of the Cabins with a "real" fireplace for a getaway around the first of the year when I lived in Illinois) and always enjoyed the accommodations The Lodge has a awesome...

Thank you so much for your comments and were glad you enjoyed your visit. If hiking is your thing, I highly recommend a visit in the winter months when the trails are empty and the falls are frozen. You have the whole place to yourself and it is beautiful. Happy Holidays and we hope to see you soon.

Went here for a spring vacation with my then new wife. We booked it last minute and wound up with a room with 2 double beds. The bathroom was very small. The experience was great the food was great. We had more fun exploring and eating than you could imagine.

Graham, I'm guessing you were in one of our Lodge Wing rooms - these rooms are on the National Historic Register, having been built in the 1930's they are a bit small. Next time ask for a Hotel Wing. Glad you enjoyed your visit otherwise and appreciate your comments.

Wife and I came here for a wedding I was in. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere which makes for some nice seclusion. The park is beautiful, with canyons, cliffs, and forest. Some nice hiking trails on the grounds. We stayed in the lodge as opposed to the cabins. Upside, there was a TV. Downside, the rooms are...

Thank you for your review and I'm happy you had a good visit. Yes the Lodge Wing cabins are small and can be noisy. The building is on the National Register and there is very little we can do without ruining the historic nature of the room. Next time you visit ask about our Hotel Wing - built in the...

We had booked our room one year ago and were well pleased with how clean, comfortable and roomy it was for the two of us for one night. We had a room on the first floor in the newer section. I was impressed with the bathroom and the comfort of the bed. We hiked on four of the trails (lots...
